Shit, I'm Gen X and I watched my parents lose the bulk of their retirement get nuked in '08, then had the company my dad worked his entire adult life for, dance on the ashes of his retirement fund to make sure there was nothing left because the CEO brought in to "save" the thing, needed a golden parachute of 30 million when he failed. And I grew up facing world nuclear annihilation. Your generational trauma is genuine, but hardly unique, we've all been getting fucked by capitalism since Reagan.
So, the DNC then, nice if they just called it what it was. Good. They deserve to rot in hell. I did fine up till they put the alphabet in that shit. As such, anything adjacent, involving numbers, was right out, and I've lived happily ever since. Anyone who thinks some other higher math will be better than the prior higher math is well, high.

Let's not forget Zero Tolerance. ANY amount of ANY drug found in ANY vehicle coming across the border into the US, meant immediate, vehicular seizure and confiscation. I lost my 1 year old (basically brand new) car for less than .08 grams total of marijuana. Another guy lost his sailboat (that was also his home) over a joint found in a pocket of a guests jacket left accidentally, months earlier. The list goes on. All seized vehicles were auctioned off, proceeds used to fund "The War On Drugs".

But as someone who has strong manual learning skills, as well as above average IQ, but was forced to follow a college prep track rather than vocational ("that's for retards", was the 70's/80's mantra) I suffered some serious mental health stress over where my life would go. Had I just become an electrician out of high school, I'd be retired, have had a much more financially stable life, possibly still be married, etc.

Until it started to flesh itself out, I was thinking the woman would be the liberally minded one, and the guy, the MAGA incel.
