TSLA fell 18% in a week after Q2 EPS of $0.33 missed consensus and free cash flow swung to negative $1.09 billion.

The Cybertruck sold one-sixth of Musk's 250,000-unit annual projection and posted the steepest sales decline of any U.S. EV nameplate in 2025.

Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and Tesla didn't make the cut.

Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) investors got a brutal reminder last week that ambitious targets can curdle into cautionary tales. A Bloomberg report published July 22, 2026 argued the Cybertruck has eclipsed the Ford Edsel as the auto industry's benchmark commercial flop on a target-versus-actual basis. Hours later, Tesla posted a Q2 earnings miss, and the stock logged its worst week since 2022.

PS Elon is a nazi

I shall forever be impressed by the swasticar at its ability to look incredibly fucking stupid in photos, and somehow be immensely worse in person.

That the Cybertruck is the Biggest Flop in Automotive History is frankly shocking, considering that the Yugo is right there...

Good.

PS, Ford was founded by a Nazi

When your products are worth less than 0.05% of your companies stock, you shouldn't exist.

I had two of them in my neighborhood that I saw frequently 2-3 years ago. One was the standard shitty N64 model. The other was painted matte black with "cybertruck" written in red cyberpunk lettering on the back. I haven't seen either in at least a year. I hope both owners took a bath and their shitty trucks just stopped working. I doubt either had a come to Jesus moment.

The idea that a car company would belong in a list of top 10 AI stocks is just bonkers to begin with. Diversifying is one thing, but this feels more like they're abandoning their core business to chase the latest trend

Ah yes, the Incel camino, the swastikar, the panzerwanken, the KKKlown-car.

i won't be happy until tesla is worth negative money

They misspelled Wankpanzer

Even the VW Type 181 ("The Thing") had better riz.

So here's my question: what changed? He's been blowing smoke up everyone's ass for years about Tesla. There was no reason to expect spacex to be any different.

EVERY Musk company has been over hyped stock scams. I'm still amazed after 30 years watching the stock market how Wall Street is completely incapable of evaluating tech/internet stocks. Seems like the entire community is scared ****less of "missing the next Microsoft/Facebook/Amazon/etc."

The soulsucking shit-hole I'm stuck in is seemingly singlehandedly keeping Tesla limping along... There's four cybertrucks here, and roughly half the sedans are fuck-ass Teslas.

I don't care what you say, I love my Cybertruck. And I'm not crying; I poked my eye on that pointy bit of the trunk.

Sarcasm too subtle for the online world

I enjoy that they have zero trade-in/resale value. Owners are stuck with them.

Already overvalued by 100/ share

*Overvalued by 308 a share

[it was $309.22 when I wrote this]

A reminder that the Edsel was also not just a poor seller, it was a bad car... poor build quality, and a push button transmission that didn't work.

I will note that the Cybertruck is also a bad car, with poor build quality, serious safety concerns (gas pedal getting jammed, a hood that will cut off fingers, a cast aluminum frame that shatters if you tow anything and everyone you drive past giving you the finger cuz you are a Nazi.

TBH, Ford and Musk are both Nazis, so they share that as well

There is no set of circumstances where I would buy any American car.

My household has been buying Japanese for the past 30 years and will continue to do so.

One nice thing about Ford though is that he's dead.

Also the Edsel sold more units than the cybertruck in a market with less than half the number of cars

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'd imagine part of this is because Edsel was a whole line of cars, not a single vehicle.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My thought on your comment was "Technically the cybertruck is a whole line of cars... sat unsold in multiple places" ;)

I see a lot of cyber trucks going around painted colors now as if that makes them look any better

Wasn't the Edsel a usable car that could at least be considered interesting?

One drove past me on a Tokyo street a couple weeks back, so yes. I’ll find the video and post it.

There were multiple Edsel models. Not just one.

Lol yes

They did include several innovative features that eventually became standard and, when assembled correctly, were fine mid-range cars. Edsels had pretty serious build issues, they were made on Ford and Mercury assembly lines. Workers had to swap in Edsel parts bins whenever one came down the line but weren't given time in their quota for it. Edsels regularly went off the line with parts shoved into the trunk to be attached at the dealership or just missing entirely.

nothing wrong with this at all

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think the saying “Mercury sucking a lemon” didn’t help at all.

There was the famous issue with some Edsel taillights, if you're turning left, the taillight looks like an arrow pointing right and vice-versa.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes. And it's not ugly at all.

1 month ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

There seem to be sillier looking versions of it.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Edsel was a fiasco and the fact that it was ugly was the least of its problems.

I know nothing else about that car, but it was in '87 first Maniac Mansion game, and it had rocket engines.

Gotta put the meteor in it and blow it up, after all.

A few years old. I just heard it a couple of months ago at the hospital. I was listening and thinking "this doesn't sound right". Good song though.
