Balthier approves!
I had a Chevy Celebrity in the 90's and into the early 2000's. It would not die. I kind of miss it, even though the drivers side door wouldn't open, the ac was long gone, along with the radio, and brakes were not good compared to a modern car. For all that, it was very comfortable to drive. Nice to see one still on the road.
I wanted to like The Long Earth series, and I gave it far more reading than it deserves. It was a great concept, badly delivered. Pratchett was not long for the world and Baxter isn't Pratchett even at his worst.
I got the feeling long before Lower Decks that StarFleet is probably where the most unstable persons in a near-utopia like the Federation would wind up. No one else would want to do it, considering their losses. So it's a collection of often brilliant but always screwed up people.

I encountered these Lionhearts at a Pride event in Maryville, TN where they are based. Their pastor tried to talk over the event using a louder amplifier. I guess he compensates. They had a few velvet paintings of lions and tried to shout down the Pride event, and failed. Then it was too sunny and they left. They were weird, even by Maga standards. I don't get the lionheart thing. Did no one tell them Richard I was probably gay?

Memphis had the best tasting tap water I ever had. I miss it. They could bottle and sell that stuff. The city sits over a very deep aquifer.

This is the same "person" that tried to force the Lakota to open up their reservation to visitors when they tried to lock down during COVID, knowing fully well they had shown higher infection rates and were further from medical help (which was why the tribal government had went with full lockdown, to begin with. She's done a hell of a lot worse than murder a puppy, but I am glad that this is drawing the spotlight on a reprehensible piece of trash.
