Private capital does a tremendous job of increasing the _productivity_ of the sector. Of course, a private company measures productivity as the dollars of profit per dollar of input, not of the outcome of education, healthcare, or whatever service they provide, but who cares about such details anyway? Praise Mammon.

This is happening in the UK with the National Health Service - probably the single greatest British achievement since WW2 - and the BBC are carrying water for the Tories on it, running articles & features about "polls show dis-satisfaction with the NHS" like it's a big news piece, when it's actually just 1000-ish people asked if they are happy with the NHS, without context. If we're not careful we could end up with a system more like the US.

Republicans have been at war against public education longer than I’ve been alive and they’ve only gained ground. Plus an insurrectionist with violent zealots as his base is polling higher than the current president who has done a better job by every metric. The police state has only gained ground since I’ve been alive. The current Supreme Court has the lowest approval rating ever recorded because we all know at least four members are corrupt and we do nothing about it.

I don't believe polls anymore since 2016, and especially with Russian interference. There are Republicans now that can't get behind the R nominee, and R reps leaving the House. When the other side (R) are as fractured as they now are is no time to give up and surrender. Now is the time to work harder to ensure a blue wave.
And, we can still call our congressmen and let them know our opinions. Phones ringing get more attention than emails or letters.

He doesn't say NATO is the worst, he says NATO is controlled by US and that it's not a defensive, peacekeeping alliance and points to the wars that NATO had interjected in. He asked financial advice from Epstein who was a financier. Russia platforms him all the time because he is hyper critical of US foreign policy. Chomsky is clear that Russia should leave Ukraine.

Fine, not an outright apologist, but his desire to see the US as the root of all bad in the world has lead him to downplay the shit other nations do. His comments on the Ukraine war were the last drop for me.

That's a fair point. For a long time he has explained why he keeps harping on the US though and he has said it's because that's where he can have influence. So he is acting on what he can have influence on. His stuff on Ukraine, I only really know his argument about Nato expansionism. The argument is, IMO, valid, but the Russian criminal invasion obviously isn't. A party can feel threatened, but invading a country is not an answer.
