You can always ask about specific classes (highest math credit, most difficult (to them) math course, weirdest solo project, etc. depending on your hiring needs) but one thing to check is how they go about solving a problemβmaybe ask them if there's something annoying that their computer(s) do (or don't do) that they wish it didn't (or did), and how they would go about making that happen.
