People, even masses of people, are generally pretty quiet. It's car traffic which makes cities loud. You generally need a parade or street festival to bring people noise to an annoying level. Greenery is absolutely possible in dense areas: Parks, trees lining roads, balconies with plants, rooftop gardens... all eminently doable, especially if cars aren't allowed to dominate the space.
Walking, cycling, bus, trams, metro, trains... most of those aren't options for the majority of Americans. But sure, restrict car usage in order to allow for all of those to become decent options and /suddenly/ you're restricting people's freedom to move around as they choose. If /none/ of those work you can call a taxi or rent a car. If you only need to do that very occasionally it's even cheaper than owning one.
World: Proposes a socially-conscious solution (apartments, public transportation, walkable neighbourhoods, etc.). Americans immediately: "No, I don't want that, because in my country that's always shit!"

We can get an idea from the hunter-gather groups that still exist or existed until fairly recently, many of which do or did have have a concept of marriage and cheating on your spouse. You are right that agriculture strengthened that tendency a /lot/ with the introduction of heritable land; before that, knowing exactly who your biological heir is was a lot less important.
