We're already paying a tax to private entities. My last job it was 6% of my pay. We need to reframe this away from "yes, it will cost extra" to something that points out, "the cost of this is actually lower than the cost of your employer provided health insurance that is deducted from your pay." this will be cheaper than what you already pay. No more for-profit middle man between you and healthcare.
I'm almost certainly the heritage foundation was started by the owner of Coors beer. Maybe Mormons have since join their ranks

Local city council people are ridiculously cheap to buy/bribe. My city of 250,000 only pays city council members $2000/yr. How hard do you think it is to pay more than $2000 to get them to side with corporate interests?
We can't even drink alcohol outdoors. Once you start to travel the world you realize how repressive and Puritan our culture and laws are. There's something magical about being at a city park, enjoying a sunset picnic and sharing wine. This is illegal in the US.
Americans can't comprehend unisex or shared bathrooms. Everything must be segregated. Just ignore the fact that bathrooms at home aren't separated by gender.
You cannot be allergic or 'sensitive' to MSG. You would die. Because it's just a sodium ion bonded to the amino acid glutamate. Sea levels rising due to climate change is a problem. This has been a problem since forever. These are temporary sandbars that people insist on trying to develop. The islands in NC are incredibly transient and temporary. Year to year they shift hundreds of feet/meters following the ocean currents. One island dies, another will be born. People keep trying to save the dying islands. The whole process may be accelerated by climate change but it's not a new thing.

The parking lot between Walmart and Best Buy? Block the Starbucks drive through? Car dependency has obliterated public spaces, town squares, etc. It's on purpose. This has more to do with the quality of the electric source. Even a perfectly engineered charger will struggle with terrible AC power coming from the wall. Voltage ripple, frequency variability, voltage drops, resistance, etc. I use the same charger in different locations and only notice this buzzing effect when plugged into buildings with ancient wiring

AP style guidelines dictate that only medical doctors can be called Dr. Everyone else just gets their credentials after their name (PhD, DDS, etc). It's to avoid ambiguity but it's also a slap in the face to PhDs, who were the origin of the title doctor. MDs only started using it much more recently.
I wonder if that has to do with the fact that they understood effectively nothing about biology at the time. They vaguely knew DNA existed but they had no clue that DNA mattered or was the source of inherited traits yet. A lot of ignorant hubris.

You can buy used high quality handmade dress shoes for $40-60 instead of disposable cheap shoes. Wear them a few years and have them resoled for $120 and get another 15 years out of them. Much less waste and employs local craftsman.
The last guy from Novartis seems extremely unconnected. Novartis has 75,000 employees all over the world. Random pharmaceutical researcher and several researchers from nuclear weapons labs. Not remotely the same type of science.
