i haven't played darktide, so i had to look up the dialogue and its pretty clear cut. but people in the comment section of that video were also questioning if it is supposed to be public knowledge. I have found no hard proof that its a secret, but i would have expected to find some Ecclesiarchy propaganda about the "Psykers noble sacrifice" or something.
do they know about the black ships, or do they explicitly know about the Sacrafice to the Astronomicon? afaik the Black ships are public knowledge, while the Sacrafice isn't. There are quite a few places you might end up after boarding a black ship. (sanctioned psyker, astropath, space marine librarian, Grey Knight, dead before you arrive)
