There were multiple people in the class ahead of mine in high school who graduated on crutches or worse due to a deck collapsing at a graduation party. Then a couple years later I was at a party when a deck predictably collapsed after being overloaded.. Friend saw it coming so we were just inside the door when it happened. We warned them. Moral of the story, decks are often built without proper paperwork and inspection and are not safe for large groups. Don't trust them.

Because I'm a nerd, this makes me think of bad D&D tavern battlemap designs. A lot of people draw multiple-story buildings without fully considering the Z dimension: They'll put privies (dry, unplumbed, shit-in-the-hole privies) directly above the middle of the DINING ROOM, or somebody's bedroom. They'll draw stone fireplaces without chimneys above them, or structural support below them. I even saw a downward spiral staircase INTERSECTING with a well full of water.
