One big factor behind Tesla's value wasn't really its cars. It was the rollout of its proprietary charging connector/port system and related tech. The EU killed that in part by passing charging port standardization (completely predictable move) that killed Tesla's potential dominance in that bit of EV infrastructure. If you recall, Musk fired nearly everyone working in the charging tech division several years ago. Without that, Tesla on its own doesn't have much value.
And it's still overvalued. There are multiple assessments that Tesla realistically should be valued well under $100/share.
