I talk shit on boomers for being bad parents, but they were the first generation to actually like their kids. All parents love their kids (that parental neuro-chemical cocktail), but the boomer's parents didn't like them. They treated them like roommates that they could beat the shit out of. My parents actually liked me. Didn't respect me (not the way I respect my kid, consent for touching and whatnot), but bought me toys and valued my happiness. Like a favorite pet. Still, better than they got.
#1 it really sucks that they get to appoint the worst people they can find and we have to cross our fingers and hope that these awful appointees turn out to be less awful than advertised if we want to win.

I went to a convention for work and got a red colored ballcap with the Red Hat linux logo on it that I truly loved. I loved that it was a red Red Hat hat. And then these fuckers ruined it for me by turning red hats into the new KKK hoods. I know it was the least of the things they ruined, but I really liked that hat.
Whenever I hear a management type talk about how “you can’t manage workers remotely” I just reply “well I guess *you* can’t.”

They're saying if you have 10 scholarships that all go to ability, they'll go to 10 boys, but to provide equality to the genders, we instead give 5 scholarships to boys and 5 to girls. They're saying that if 1 of the 5 girl scholarships goes to a trans girl, that results in 6 boy scholarships to 4 girl scholarships. The solution here is free college education for all and not relying on sports to choose our success stories.

This is probably the best case scenario of our recent fumblings with AI. If the government had put guardrails around AI, companies like Ford would have had to do more than just flip the switch from payroll to AI. It would have taken more time, AI would have improved, and those jobs would have gradually disappeared permanently. Allowing them to flip the switch immediately and get burned immediately might make them hesitant to trust what these AI companies are telling them in the future.

We see this interchange happening constantly anymore. Why on earth isn't the next question, "You're in charge of this, right? And you're here to answer questions on this area that you are in charge of, right? But you're saying you know nothing that you can provide here? So either you do know and you're lying to obstruct this inquiry or you actually don't know anything about these important things going on under your watch because you're incompetent at your job. Which is it?"
It seems like people should respond by saying, "Antisemitic? I didn't mention Judaism. It's the same thing with acupuncture and homeopathy. Once you start down the road of feeling comfortable believing something that is demonstrably wrong, it gets easier and easier to believe in other things that are demonstrably wrong because you no longer value proof.
