All three of the things in your first sentence were/are very explicitly Christian, though..?
hardware is so cool and useful to our modern lifes!!
I know this was three days ago, but whenever I see people making this argument, I have to point out that the word "antisemitism" was coined by antisemites to refer to hatred of Jews, not to hatred of people who speak Semitic languages. The people who created and popularized the word were exclusively referring to Jews, especially Jews in Europe who spoke Yiddish. They were absolutely not referring to Arabs, Syrians, Ethiopians, or the Maltese. Antisemitism has always meant hatred of Jews.
well now I need to look for the Venice song from the LucasArts game from 1989
I know what happens next, but leechdemon made a factual point. The word "Antisemitismus" was coined in German by antisemites, adapted to other languages, and has always been used specifically to refer to hatred of Jews, not to hatred of people speaking Semitic languages. It never carried the connotation of hating Jews *and* Arabs *and* Ethiopians *and* the Maltese, &c. It has always meant the specific hatred of Jews. There is no such thing as "semitism" to which one can be opposed.

SUGGESTION, NOT CRITICISM: I encourage omitting the hyphen and writing "antisemitic" or "antisemitism." The word was invented by antisemites specifically to refer to hatred of Jews, and hyphenating the word, or worse, capitalizing "-Semitism," suggests that something called "Semitism" exists apart from the word antisemitism. The word isn't about Semitic languages or Semitic peoples or Nefarious International Jewry; it is and has only ever meant hatred of Jews.
I think I'd prefer the Australia Italy & Jewish Affairs Council
