Americans have largely always been submissive cowards who rely on others to fight battles for them, but pretend they did something glorious when left to their own devices for a change. From its founding by people even extra-conservative churches thought were lunatics, America’s identity as a settled nation is one based in playing the victim card for things it did to itself.
It’s not as hard as you think. You only consider certain things to be worth your time recording, like “how many times I ate out in a one-week period”. Data collectors though, they wanna know things like “how many times did you make this specific turn on this specific street” and “how much of your projected daily time is spent avoiding ads, and which are more likely to be lingered on for one extra second” and so on. Things you wouldn’t consider, but companies can sell like hotcakes
Most highways have connecting paths like that intended solely for use by emergency services so that they don’t have to go all the way to an off-ramp turn around and come back again if that unit is the closest to an emergency call. They’re never meant to be used by civilians but people WILL if they either think they won’t be caught, they have to by direction by police (like road closures) or, like here, to avoid traffic if the connecting road goes the same direction.
Moreso it’s just stupidity and, hilariously, cowardice from the “big strong men” groups.
