Recalls will go down drastically. If no one is testing then there is no way to tell what needs to be recalled. The incidents will go up, but again, no one will have any idea what is to blame.

Um, the whole idea behind gutting regulations is to increase profits. Consumers have always just been walking wallets to them who are just temporarily holding on to the money that they want. We are all expendable and replaceable. They are squeezing the stone for blood now in order to find any way to increase profit margins. They are not content with steady profits, shareholders are only happy when the margins increase.

I am resisting in the ways that I can. Being poor and with a disabled wife (who frequently needs me to stay home from work to help her), I don't have a lot of options here.
What I am doing is learning to cook foods from scratch. Texas toast, chocolate chip cookies, hamburgers, pizza, meatloaf & other things. I tried Chicken & Dumplings the other day, it was wildly good - and cheaper per serving than the canned kind.
I'm trying to grow vegetables, but not having much luck in that area.

Here in the US, you can buy it in frozen boxes, then bake them in your oven. Pretty tasty, but people pay $2-4 per box now days. Why pay that when I can make it myself for pennies?
I have a bread maker, and I make a basic 1-pound loaf from it. This keeps for 5-6 days on the counter. When you want some, cut a thick slice, butter both sides, add a garlic seasoning blend (or whatever you want) and cheese to the top, then toast it in the oven for ~15 minutes. It's delicious

What this country lacks is community. We have all brought into the capitalistic mindset of trying to win by ourselves. People need to get out & meet their neighbors. Talk politics if they're open to it, and help each other protest where they can. I met my neighbors last year, they are quite friendly... but don't care much about politics.

Prices also shot up through the roof due to "supply chain issues" during the pandemic but never went back down after all the bullshit went back to normal. They just used it to artificially inflate everything. Now the diarrhea lettuce laced fast food hamburgers start at $12 each instead of $2-$4 while nobody's wages increased except for the assholes up top.

Deflation is bad, but waves not increasing somewhat close to productivity increase is worse. The average buying power of the work force is going down, despite them providing more labor and being more highly educated. A house of a hamburger having tripled in price compared to *whenever* wouldn't be an issue if minimum wage had also tripled and average wage had gone up, say, 2.8 times or something. Instead, minimum wage hasn't moved at all and average has gone up less than half of inflation.
