Need some insight into what's happening. Looks like there are two highways that both lead in the same direction with 2-3 lanes each, and it looks like there's a roundabout ahead for them to go onto the highway from there, so why are they taking this path?
What's going on here? I think i found the location; it looks like they're on a "through" lane of I-95 South and missed the exit/interchange in the other section?
Had a Frenchman do this in a minivan at speed outside of strausberg 25yrs ago. When we arrived at the destination, I asked the only English speaker in the car if that was normal, she said yes. I had far more respect for Peugeot after that.
You know, laws are fallible given that they are written by fallible people and those people canât imagine every situation in which exceptions should be granted.
What if a passenger was having a medical emergency? What if there was a flipped over fuel truck on fire? What if a worker was told that if he was late one more time he would be fired? Also, donât cops do this all the time? Donât cars break down and park on the median?

Itâs simple: based on this clip both you and i cannot determine why people are doing this (see my post above, the one you couldnât comprehend). 1% of these drivers could have had an emergency and 99% could have just been impatient, frustrated, and willing to risk it.
It is improbable that every driver in this clip had an emergency, but it isnât impossible.
Been to NJ once and whatâs up with exits?! If you miss your exit, you are screwed. Ya have to drive 10 miles for the next one so you can turn back around đ
I feel like the right thing to do if you're an officer in that situation isn't pulling people over, it's managing what's happening to make it happen safely until you can get some help dealing with whatever the real cause of the traffic issues actually are. Granted that may be me thinking people being safe and orderly is more important than that traffic ticket money.
Did you notice all the other cars doing highway speeds while these cars are merging into the left lane of an open highway? Laws don't exist because this exact behavior killed a bunch of people in the past and the cop's job is to enforce that law. Geez.
You get people up the highway to start diverting people off, block the onramps, start offloading it till you can route traffic around whatever stopped in this bad in the first place.
I donât think the trooper was pulling that person over; he waved off the last SUV and was probably going to stop the next column crossing the median. People kept doing it because the people in front of them kept doing it. I think he was slow riding the shoulder specifically to head off the people jumping over. These are local exit lanes that rejoin the highway in another mile or so. Probably an accident on the highway before the merger, so people were using it as a shortcut around the traffic.
Most highways have connecting paths like that intended solely for use by emergency services so that they donât have to go all the way to an off-ramp turn around and come back again if that unit is the closest to an emergency call. Theyâre never meant to be used by civilians but people WILL if they either think they wonât be caught, they have to by direction by police (like road closures) or, like here, to avoid traffic if the connecting road goes the same direction.
