American evangelicals are not christians, not matter how loudly the screech. They are, however, the kind of people that Jesus would braid a whip for and chase out of the temples and churches.

American "christians" AREN'T the majority Globally, nor are they the majority in your own country. They're just the loudest, and the ones you see amplified on echo chamber sites like this one. Maybe it's time to stop the generalisation that you claim to hate yet use so frequently.

Yeah, hi, Christian here. We don't consider your american evangelicals to be Christians. Primarily because they don't follow any of the teachings of Christ.

So like, all that stuff is from the Jewish and older Holy Books. The bits that are relevant and important to Christians start with the title Gospel. There's supposed to be like, 14 or 15 of them, but angry little men decided they knew better than God and hid most of those works away from the rest of us.

Nope. American "logic". Your extremist whackos pretending to be Christian aren't christian, and you don't get to blame the rest of us for them.

I've been all around the country and have never heard anyone pronounce day like die. Maybe some strong accents in New Zealand might, but not an Aussie accent.

I don't want to have sex with anyone. Can I just be nice to trans people anyway?

#1 At no point did Jesus say he was going to torture anyone. He did say he was going to fuck up some moneylenders though, and he did do that.

My dad's been gone a couple of weeks now, and it's the little everyday things that I catch myself doing, like grabbing my phone to text him when I've seen or heard something he'd enjoy knowing about, that're messing me up the most.

American Evangelicals are not Christians. They proclaim loudly to be Christian in the media, but they are not. They're just bog standard extremists using the trappings of Christianity as a legitimisation tactic. The vast, vast majority of the 1.something billion Christians around the world are not American Evangelicals.

I'm an Aussie with limited historical US knowledge :) The Jefferson Bible sounds like an interesting read, thanks for letting me know it exists! I'm gonna see if the library has a copy.

We're trying to get them to actually pay us for the gas they take, and neither our conservatives or our slightly less conservatives support that at all. We've got sweet fuck all chances of getting the mining cartels to pay tax, let alone a windfall tax.

or, longer and stretchy rope tied to a tree so they dangle at head height and then we hand out 19,999 pokeball type thingies filled with wasps and 1 that's just a hand grenade. Lucky winner gets a free cheesecake on top of the adoration and envy of the other 19,999.

Rogue Trader era 40K seems to have had the most fun lore.

Yeah, the oil and gas companies haven't been paying their taxes for decades here in Australia either. There was a pretty big push for a little while to make them pay earlier this year, but once the PM got up in front of the nation and read out a bunch of gas industry bullshit almost everyone except for the Greens and two youtubers seem to have dropped it.

There was a big whinge from the right-wing in the USA a little while back about some supposed "leftists" being mad online about a Sydney Sweeny ad. Turns out the reporting about the "leftists being mad online" was the starting point; no one had made any mention of the ad in the week it was online before those stories appeared. So yeah, that stuff is entirely manufactured by marketers.

I didn't know america had a rugby competition. Congratulations for finally getting into proper sports, USA. Rugby, football.. soon enough you'll be beating England at cricket and then you might be ready for a real match!

We have Trump-loving MAGAts here in Australia. A couple of them showed up at my church recently but thankfully they didn't stay long past the first gospel reading. Seems the words of Jesus weren't to their liking.

Anyone who's seen the documentary Sister Act knows how dangerous nuns are.

Holding up either of those images in public in Australia will get you arrested for hate speech. Our leadership at both state and federal level are quite beholden to Israel.

I saw a thing on one of those repost sites like cheezburger where they'd censored the words Autistic, Disabled and Wheelchair. That's a whole new level of wtf.

I wonder how Art Historians and Anthropologists will talk about this era of memes. Some of them have layers of absurdism, existentialist and almost dadaist qualities that're honestly on a whole new level, one that I don't think has any type of genuine classification yet.

I like the idea of us being a divine science experiment. one of those ones that's gone kind of awry, like where you've accidentally put two samples way too close together and now there's a weird reaction going on, and the only thing you can really do is sit back and watch to see what happens.

Is this something one can read about on wikipedia normally, or the kind of story you really want to get in book form written by an enthusiastic history professor?

Sorcerers!

I rather like the way you see things. It puts the onus on us as a species to bring what we want see rather than constraining ourselves to be a certain way. Am I on the right track here? I honestly don't know much about animism (I'll endeavour to learn more), but I have had some wonderfully lively discussions with Wiccans before and enjoy their takes on things.
