You are correct. It would still be lovely if the university's athletic program would serve the university by making money available for things other than athletics, like more scholarships, lowering tuition, or improving infrastructure (so taxpayer money doesn't need to be allocated as much to that) instead of the other way around- academics being forced to pass athletes, and academics basically becoming a side hustle of a sports program. Why do universities exist, again?

I taught in a small rural school system in Japan. They didn't get these kinds of resources; instead, we had a couple of guys from the village hall come and drop tofu on the pavement, then place another tofu block in a bike helmet and drop that, to illustrate how helmets protect your brain.
The GOP is in a bad position here. They'd have been attacking her for years for her stances and programs, but far too many of their base love her, so they're forced to give her respect. You can just hear their teeth grinding in the background.

I get downvoted every time I tell young progressives that they need to get out and vote, for the best available candidate, no third party or "staying home to show 'em" nonsense. It's too important, so I'll say it again. If you do nothing else, VOTE in every election, without fail. Exercise your franchise. If you want a good society, be a good citizen.

When I was in college ages ago, they were rapidly turning the journalism dept into the last refuge for bad students that they didn't want to kick out. So that's where all of the low-effort students ended up. I was told by the prof (a writer and investigative journo in the JJJ mold for a major paper) to get out because nothing good was happening in the field. Now I see all of the journos out there today, simply nodding like bobbleheads and writing whatever they're told. She was sadly right.

It's also possible that they're trying their best, but are being kneecapped by the local legislature or council, which is dominated by the GOP. Sometimes you just live in an area that's too red. But if not, progressive voters need to vote in every election, without fail, without throwing their vote away on a protest candidate or staying home to "show them." If you're not voting for the best possible candidate, you're by default voting for the other guys. Exercise your franchise. VOTE.
I was a kid in the 1980s, living in a house a lot like that one. We moved into it in 1981. My parents were both teachers. Our neighbors worked in an auto plant. Next to them lived a lawyer. Across the street was a social worker. The dentist lived in a slightly larger house on a corner lot, but same neighborhood. In 1997, my parents sold that house for six times what they paid for it. Both retired in their mid-50s and are still around, living comfortably. This is how it should be.
I'm in my 50s, mid Gen-X, and have been married for 25 years. My wife and I wanted to have kids, but we kept kicking that can down the road because we wanted to do things right and be responsible and wait until we could afford it. Well, we never were able to afford it, and now that ship has sailed, but the bleak future makes us kind of glad we didn't. About half of my friends are in the same boat as me. This started with my generation and has been accelerating.

He has been impeached-twice. The problem is that the rule is that it takes a 2/3 majority in the senate to convict. No president has ever been convicted and removed in history. Finding enough GOP senators with spines willing to vote for removal is an impossibility these days.
I'm from Michigan. No way El-Sayed loses. We have a gubernatorial election as well featuring a popular Democrat, and the coattails alone will carry him, not to mention as the people start to pay attention to the message.
This is why Reagan ended the Fairness in Reporting doctrine and the right bought up media outlets- so they could selectively report the news, manufacture outrage to distract voters, and not be forced to tell people about Dem achievements and long-term programs. Now voters think everything can be fixed in a year and when someone like Biden attempts 10- and 20-year infrastructure plans, no one knows about them or why they're necessary. We're distracted and impatient and vulnerable to this stuff.

Because they wouldn't, because the GOP would flood the airwaves with ads about how the Dems are "soft on crime" and there are plenty, plenty, plenty of low-info voters who will believe it. A lot of the middle-of-the-road voters have been convinced that these things make them safer, like it or not. You need to debunk the premise before you can move the voters.
Every state, county, and town is different. What plays in NYC might not play in Boise or Omaha. What plays in Michigan's Tri-county area might not play in the rest of the state. Instead of dismissing all Dems who are more to the center, many of whom are there because they're representing more conservative districts, you might ask them what their areas are like and what their local concerns are. Blanket policies need to be tailored to the individual state or municipality.
My usual when going to Canada is to go in the morning via the tunnel and return at night via the Ambassador. I would have still used the Ambassador even with the new bridge, because it's at a more convenient point for me and the views of the city at night as you cross are nice. Thanks to the family's scummy shenanigans, I'm never using it again. Sure, I represent maybe $90 in tolls per year, so no big loss for the owners, but I bet there are a lot of people like me out there. I hope it adds up.

We're friends with a family living in rural Japan. When we go visit, the grandfather goes out hunting and brings back a big mesh bag of adult hornets (not sure of exact species, but huge.) He removes the stingers, venom sacs, and wings. He stir-fries them with a bit of soy sauce. They're tasty, like eating peanut butter soy sauce crispy things. I worry for his safety and his sanity but he really likes them.
If you're living in your car, having to make trips to the gym / other peoples' houses / truck stops to shower. Think renting an apartment is expensive? Try living in a hotel on a nightly basis- even one with weekly or monthly rates- because you can't scrape together the dosh for a security deposit and 1.5 months rent. Dealing with health problems brought on by lack of sleep (due to noisy / insecure environments) or poor nutrition.
Caring for family members at home because you can't afford care facilities, assisted living, or even having a nurse drop by to keep your elderly / sick / disabled relatives in their homes. Not having access to affordable childcare. Having to make trips to the library to work on your resume and / or print it out. Not having the space or privacy for a home office or dedicated work area to facilitate working from home.
As someone once observed: There are no poor people in America... only frustrated future millionaires.
