Cuomo claimed again and again that mayors don't have the power to do what Mamdani wanted to do. Now Mamdani is showing that in fact, yes, mayors do have these powers. Maybe further issues stem from this later on and we'll see how it goes but Cuomo straight up lied about what a mayor is capable of doing.

Are you crazy? who is going to send his last dime to the genocidal maniacs!? so again for more years, it is no health care for us, anything remotely convenient or humane.

I wouldn't move to NYC if their mayor was some kind of omniscient blow job deity, sucking people off millions at a time with supernatural spirit gawks.

New York City is proof I need to move to New York City.

I loved what he said about the city council voting to raise the mayor’s salary

It's also possible that they're trying their best, but are being kneecapped by the local legislature or council, which is dominated by the GOP. Sometimes you just live in an area that's too red. But if not, progressive voters need to vote in every election, without fail, without throwing their vote away on a protest candidate or staying home to "show them." If you're not voting for the best possible candidate, you're by default voting for the other guys. Exercise your franchise. VOTE.

Downvoted for stating the obvious? Okay, fine. How about this? If you want a better country, be better citizens. VOTE in every election, at a bare minimum. Get involved in local politics. Be the change you so desperately seek.

Every single mayoral candidate should be compared to him going forward. He should be the baseline.

I'd suggest ya'll started protesting .. Daily and you continue until ya'll have what he's offering.

Bro pissrael hates him too, a mayor of a city not a country. His pictures are side by side with actual country leaders for nutayoohoo's election campaign. So you know he must be doing something good.

Unfortunately it turns out there are a lot of idiots we need to kill before they'll stop voting for the face eating leopards.

This. I don't even buy the "we're a small widdle town, we can't afford it uwu." bullshit anymore. Demand more and make the rich who flat out stole from you foot the bill!

I friend of mine sent emails to her local officials here in Florida about a bad pothole that they had been ignoring. After the third one where she said she expected "Mamdani Speed" it got fixed.

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The thing is this is how Florida became the shithole it was. They had really good governorship for a while, land prices plummeted, things were super-affordable. Financially well-off bigots moved there and started buying properties and businesses, as well as corporations headquartering there due to how cheap it was and how much they could buy up. Then they exprbitantly increased prices and now Florida is a shithole.

He's cooling his heels - and everything else - in some morgue in Kentucky.

Hell, demand more from the people meant to represent you in general. It shouldn't be a radical idea to demand that your elected representatives represent YOU, not just pay lip service before attaching themselves to the nearest billionaire's crotch.

I don't want to go to NYC because of Mamdani. I want to go to NYC because it's dense, busy, diverse, noisy, complicated, with a rich history. Mamdani is just making all of those positives even better.

Maybe it's just because I'm an Appalachia girl who doesn't like having too many houses near my house, but the diversity and rich history sound great, but the rest sounds like a bunch of reasons why cities suck.

Can confirm. Source: am a suburbanite in a much smaller metro area.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Im with you on this one, i dont fare well with crowds or neighbors closer than 50m from the edgenof my driveway (also in appalachia)

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

a lot of the reasons why you don't like cities are probably exactly the reason why i like them and vice versa for small communities. i despise small towns. it takes all kinds, as they say.

1 week ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Unfortunately, we don't have enough land to really have people living outside of dense city planning. Sprawl is destroying natural habitats from needlessly wasted space because people want to be antisocial.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're not wrong. Some people do thrive in urban environments, though. Hell, even I like visiting cities. I just don't want to live in one.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dunno, I grew up in the burbs (denser than Appalachia i'm sure but nowhere near a big city) and when I lived in NYC it felt like a lot for a few weeks and then I just got used to it. And I still miss always being ten minutes from amazing food.

Cabin in the woods for me. I'd like it if my neighbors were all miles away.

As long as there are no elder gods in the basement.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

My cabin is a mile away from the nearest neighbor. That's plenty far.
I got used to the elder gods.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed. They also smell like piss and you can't see the horizon unless you go out of your way to find it.

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

And conversely, there's nowhere to go piss. Legally. Unless you buy something at a store and half the time the damn store doesn't let people use the bathroom anyway.

I dont want to move to NY, I want OKC to be like NYC.

1 week ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 4

How’s that Freedom Tower called One World Trade in OKC coming? 200 stories it think the plan was?

1 week ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

I, personally, want to move closer to Broadway.

Ohhhhhhh me too!!!!

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I sorely want a movie adaptation of Avenue Q since I never got to see it.

1 week ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*nod* I get this, but consider that by staying in OK and trying to make it better you are only helping the people who are hell bent on destroying you.

I spend over 20 hours a week volunteering. Showing all these fake Christians whats up.

1 week ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That is super commendable. Are you volunteering and helping the same people who time and again vote to persecute you and your friends?

It's kind of a tough question. Are your city, county, property, and employment taxes going to people who pass laws controlling what you can do with your body?

(Disclaimer, I chuck large amounts of money at freepizzadude because he helps imgur people in need. These people are my community and I like helping them)

I help local veterans I know with random shit (helped this one dude move his TV to the other side of the room bc he had 1 arm) but more at my kids school. I do NOT teach/sub but im there to do what ever is needed. Ive helped teachers get rooms done, librarian get books moved, move old furniture and build new desks in the rooms. Ill bring food from our local grocery store for them when stuff is on sale. Ive coppied over 1,000 print-outs already this year haha. Last year the district kept NOT

Sending somepne to kill wasps. Im not afraid of them so I volunteered to kill them. They are still gone 3 years later bc of me. Ive helped the kitchen bring boxes from the truck up to the kitchen bay for them to easily grab (i dont go in the kitchen). Anything really to help make the flow of life easier for the teachers and staff so they can for the kids.
I have this opportunity that I CAN help, so I do.

But how does that help the billionaires? 🤔 /S

It helps them recognize we don't want or need them.
