I felt like (in addition to Stupid Sexy Shelob) Shadows of War suffered a bit due to the Lootbox system of gear upgrading and your followers, and on harder difficulties, enemies were sponges rather than requiring more skill or tactics. My rescue has been the same way for years, never let me out of sight, always wanting some form of physical contact. Recently she stayed curled up on the couch after I went to get something from the other room and used the bathroom, and it made me so happy to see her so comfortable and relaxed on her own.
It's a thing of beauty to behold. The middle finger says "Fuck you, I'm angry" but the thumbs down says "I'm disappointed in you. You have been judged and found wanting" and that is way more offensive to other drivers.

If your wife's behavior has slowly worsened over time, there are a lot of factors involved. Brain chemistry is weird; I highly recommend you both find an individual therapist, and a couples' therapist. Individual therapy helped us realize aspects of ourselves we wanted to keep and discard, and couples' therapy helped us find balance in that. Sometimes medication helps, sometimes it's not needed. It's worth exploring, at the very least for yourself to have someone you can completely confide in.
