That massive influx would cause hyper-inflation while simultaneously crashing the global economy.

So, instead, use it to pay off all medical, student, and government debt and then utilize the rest to build infrastructure and we would instead see hyper progress. Healthcare, transportation, housing, food, retirement, water could all become human rights in less than a decade.

Just like with your kids, strong reactions are likely to inadvertently teach them to do it again. That moment just taught that beluga to do it more often.

High time to put compensation caps on the C-suite. Maybe around 50x the base employees and make sure it includes all the extra perks like private jet flights.

Thank you. We can hate on them without promoting clickbait propaganda.

Part of that is the pursuit of science generally means that the person is not (or at least wasn't) strongly motivated by money. Part of that is biased reporting because professors who admit to being Republican are less likely to get tenure. Part of that is scientists tend to have a more general moral view (the good of the whole) vs a more egocentric moral view (the good of those close to the individual first).

Real question: I assume that as a foster parent all of the child's expenses are paid by the state. If their birth parents had kept them is there any way they could receive the same benefit?

Just saw your other comment that this was in NC. I'm in the triangle and can sadly believe it of some of these schools. We just had a neighbor have to move because even though she got teacher of the year they wouldn't let her daughter enroll at her school so she had to get a job in the next school district over.

Next time get their bank details and turn them in to the FBI. If they're doing it to you they are doing it to others.

I hope she was straight up fired for it.

This is perhaps the one thing that could be useful about requiring ID to use the internet. If each person is only allowed 1 account then social media farms wouldn't be able to operate.

Upon election all their assets (including any property) should be turned over to a blind trust dominated by mutual funds based on the region they represent. In other words, a US rep for NC would have a portfolio dominated by stocks based in NC.

Witch: You have been cursed!
Patient: With what?
W: Your food will slowly poison you and your descendants forever unless you regularly shed your lifeblood.
P: Does it have to be in battle? Cuz, uh, we don't have many of those anymore and, uh, there's this cool program where a little stab lets me bleed indirectly into a person who doesn't have enough of that "lifeblood".
W: Fine! *Pouty voice* As long as you still get stabbed.

For the confused:

Federal Judge doesn't believe Blanche and the DOJ followed the Epstein Transparency law and is demanding a handful of unredacted files to make sure that the redaction of the "To" line was appropriate and legal. This challenges a general precedent of the courts that, unless proven otherwise, courts should presume that government officials acted in accordance with proper procedures and laws.

I wish I was rich enough to be able to be THAT principled.

so are a good number of the democrats

1 week ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

because 6 democrats voted for it and this seems to be a regular play by the party. They rotate which of their teammates will take the hit so that nothing of substance changes for the better. One of them is the guy from NC whose district just got (probably) gerrymandered out from under him so they either threw him to the wolves or he is hoping that sucking up to AIPAC will save him.

Yes, we need to show up to the primaries, but that wasn't enough before now.

If Trump drops this lawsuit would that stop the subpoenas?

The only way to get prices back down is to stop buying stuff. Want cheaper computers? If we boycott computers for a year the prices will drop. Want cheaper cars? We can all stop driving. Want cheaper housing? Start living in the woods. Want cheaper food? Just stop eating...

I feel I shouldn't need this, but /s

I splurged taking my wife to a sushi place in scottsdale and was confused because it had two green and spicy side condiments. One of them was real wasabi! I can only assume they had the other one because that's what most people are used to.

Are you thinking Denmark would give up sovereignty in the planning phase? That would be dumb.

I'm sure you have enough education to know how things like escrow work to make sure that a proper transition happened and to know that if the US invaded the UN the whole world would be down on us like a ton of bricks.

Sorry, I don't know how to put a /s on just one side joke without using Pratchett-like footnotes.

I said it as a joke, but as I think more about it I kinda like the idea. It could become independent, powerful, and protected all at once. Of course, it would require the Denmark to voluntarily give up sovereignty, but something like this might convince them.

That's the point. Mamdani is right for wanting him arrested, but he should have immunity to attend the UN. I love Mamdani, but I don't think he is right to push for the US to impede access to the UN and to avoid any such conflict in the future I would prefer the UN be located somewhere protected from such politics.

He should be arrested.

The UN should be located in a neutral location without extradition (maybe Greenland, or appropriate Epstein Island) but with 24/7 surveillance EVERYWHERE so no one can get up to any shenanigans.

I feel the UN can be a force for good by serving as a space where conflicting nations and leaders can meet in peace without fear of death, imprisonment, or harm.
