Something about myself.
That being said, you can turn down the money and put it into a financial aid fund. But it shows you were smart/talented enough to receive the scholarship. Hopefully that's what these kids will do. This isn't a Pell grant or some other strictly need-based scholarship.
I will say, as someone who works in fundraising, you can't get a tax receipt for a business expense as a charitable donation. If you are a bakery and donate cupcakes to an event, we don't log that as a gift in kind. I'm sure it's written off as a business expense or something, but the charity isn't offering any sort of tax incentive to you.

That there are people who believe that nonsense at all, much less after not receiving a 5k DOGE check and a 2K tariff rebate check, is mind boggling to me. "This time he means it! He's going to change! He said he loves me and won't hit me anymore..."
She got arrested for no legal reason. That false arrest led to the PD being shut down. Not sure what is unclear.
I would proffer that the 65 year old has now seen and lived the consequences of many decisions. There is some truth that with age comes wisdom and saying that there are no older people fighting for the well being of humanity is absurd. There are plenty of people trying to plant a tree that others may sit in its shade. It would be great if we had youthful optimism and elder experience working together and not a gerontocracy, but saying all older people should sit down and shut up is absurd.

Just because you can retire at 65 doesn't mean you're not capable of work. My husband will retire at 63 and he's doing just fine.
Because Bernie didn't even get to the Senate until he was 65. Some people are still vigorous and sharp at 85, some people are vegetables at 60. An arbitrary cut off is no good.

We bought a house back in the day when you could do that on an ok but not great salary. It's a lovely 100+ yr old home. Now we make a good living, but everything is SO expensive that we're just as stressed as we were before. Need to paint the house, 12K (all cedar and stucco). Need to replace the gutters, 10K (double gabled roof with a lot of linear feet). Kid's car got stolen, 3k to fix all the shit they did to it. Cat's sick, 2K. There's no relief at the 100K mark anymore.
Can you tell me what great features you're using? I'm really not that old, but on, off, dim. That's pretty much all I want from a light.
I am not sure I should engage since you're already hella pissed off, and I'm not trying to piss you off more, I am just genuinely curious how inconvenient it is to manually turn off and on your lights? I guess I've just never noticed it as an annoyance in my day to day life and I'm trying to envision a daily scenario where it's a hardship. I'm sure there is one, I'm just wondering what it is.

It goes back to his time as a slumlord in NY when he was slammed by the courts for his racist renting policies. And how he took a full page out in the NYT promoting the death penalty for the NY 5 who supposedly had assaulted a white woman in Central Park. News flash, no they didn't. Even after they were exonerated, he just doubled down on it. His racism is truly awful.
