At my first professional job my office was basically a closet. Small with no window. But I had a closable door (for naps and such). I hated it at the time but compared to an open floor plan it was paradise. Software developers do not need an open floor plan. They're not collaborating verbally. They're messaging one another even if they're 5 feet away.
I blame immigrants, Jews, and women voters. /s
