Bailey tax

#18 To make absolutely sure it never comes crashing down, we're gonna count on the handyman's secret weapon, duct tape.

#17 we have a word for it in Norwegian too, directly translated "spare time problems". Basicly, you're hobbyless.

#1 Nah, in California utilities like PG&E have been converted into a tax collection government agency. They want to collect billions of extra dollars to do things, so they bill PG&E and then force them to charge higher fees, that way they can get around state tax caps. That's why in some placrs a utility bill that should be $100 can be 500-1000 or more there are actual state positions that direct bill PG&E millions to pay for positions of gov workers.

#2 Whatever you do, don't tell the therapist your standard birthday well wish is: "May the candles on your cake, burn like cities in your wake."

#6 I can barely take care of myself due to depression. I ain't gonna get a pet, that would not be fair to a being whose life and wellbeing would be dependant upon my care. The risk of negligence that they would have no say in is unacceptable in my mind. Maybe when I'm in a healthier mental place, but that is not the case at this time.

#17 I don’t speak German, nor do I have German heritage, but I have said “She/he really needs a hobby” in English.

I have also said “when people told you that you needed a hobby, *this* is not what they ment.”

#15 That would be a great scene in some low brow comedy. Woman walks up to her car about to hit the remote open then pauses and pulls out her phone.

#17 Hobbyloses Verhalten: The literal noun phrase for hobbyless behavior.

Hobbylos: The standard slang adjective used to describe someone acting like they have no life.

Der/die hat wohl keine Hobbys: The traditional phrase meaning "they probably have no hobbies".

#1 Every single summer I see at least one person say "I keep my thermostat the same all year but this month it was $100 higher than previous months! How can that be!?!"

#6 I'm weirded out by people who think working 8 hours, commuting 2 hours, and sleeping 8 hours gives you time for a pet. Keeping the pet in a crate for 18 hours a day is cruel and unusual. Denying companionship to a pack animal for the long stretches you are away when you are their world is pretty sadistic.

This is very true. It’s not always the right thing to have a pet when u haven’t time for them…or money even/ I just thought it was a cute meme.

#6 I had two. In May, one had a massive seizure that ended up killing her. Two weeks ago, I had to put the other down because his body was failing him. I will miss them for the rest of my life, but I can't go through that again. My home will have no more creatures.

5 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good, some people limit themselves to mammals.

4 days ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Certainly should not. Birbs, fishies, reptars, and amphios are for sure great pets. I mean it when I say I love ALL animals.

I'm from Germany and have never heard anyone using that word specifically.
we would say. "Don't you have a hobby?"

4 days ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It’s a very apt observation.

4 days ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Was going to complain, you can't say that and then not actually post the German word.
