And loans likely have some loan to value covenants… with values dropping, some of those could be triggered. Lenders could force him to rebalance the loans which would take additional equity contributions… selling shares to liquidate if they aren’t restricted.

Makes sense. I’m a diver, not a climber, but I feel like it’s a similar approach. They teach personal and buddy checks in basic open water, and I’ve stopped strangers from rolling out of the dingy with their mask still on their head and their air not turned on. I run through my mental checklist before stepping or rolling into the water every… single… time. I imagine climbing has a lot of those checks.
