Progressive....conservative. That's some impressive mental gymnastics.

It's okay, Zeph. It's just the Enterprise;)

I take vaccines because I don't want someone to say..."Did you hear that guy got offed by something he coulda prevented? What a moron!" Or have some new variant kill me off and it gets named after me... all sorts of very silly/selfish reasons!

Man, there's a lot of people here who don't seem to think skateboarding represents a danger for concussion and severe brain injury. I could provide sources, but let's just say that you don't have to be doing crazy stunts to get some fun brain injuries.

What a wonderfully doofy comic.

It then took another 2400 years before the first translation into English. George Chapman's translation didn't take place until 1612 CE or so. Chapman also took liberties with the text, because of course the British did:P Modern translations may hew closer to truer translations but even they have considerable deviations from the original Greek. In short, as a historian, I would rate the Odyssey as highly flawed from the beginning as 'source' material.

Not counting the fact that it's just a wee bit of a fiction *ahem*, if we approach this from a pure historian's perspective.... Homer was writing down for the first time a story that had been retold for hundreds of years at that point. About 500 years, by most estimates. (1200 BCE for Trojan War, 700 BC for Homer.) So, already we have our written record telephone gamed for five centuries, meaning Homer NEVER was a primary source of the Trojan War.

The difference between Elvira and Cassandra is some serious Clark Kent/Superman level disguise. Cassandra is a perfectly lovely redhead, but not who you would peg as the Mistress of the Dark!

If you're comfortable saying... why are you not sleeping the best?

Misirlou! Great song, even before it was Pulp Fiction'd.

It's strange to think that most pets that exist right now have never not had their whole lives filmed. I don't know how to feel about that.

I hope so, too. But it's up to you the intent of your friend and how much you want to expect of his ability to make that mental correction. Only you can know that. Only you can decide if even good intent is enough. *directed to OP, obviously!*

I don't know, I've had many people try and they all marvel at my body's remarkable ability to plummet like a stone:) But yes, I absolutely agree!

.....that is indeed an available specialty pizza here in CT:) I mean, if you weren't an exceptionally oblivious young boy (hi, that was me!), you could probably have guessed they were pretty Greek, but it just never occurred to me. They all have very Italian store names!

Thank you for the knowledgeable response!:) Are helmets becoming standard, too? If I ever got on a boat again, I doubtless would wear one anyway, but I do wonder if that's standard now! Thanks again!

I prefer the secretly Greek pizza we get here in North Central Connecticut. Square cut with a thicker crust. The squares just make me feel like I'm eating more pizza, despite *obviously* that not being the case.

And there it is...someone making a comment I thought nobody else would make!:) Congratulations for briefly inhabiting my brain space!

Speaking as someone who can't swim/float, this is something I'll never do... but who lets a 10 year old even go out on the ocean on a board without heavy supervision? Am I just letting my own nerves project being overly cautious or....?

Yeah, that's a pivotal milestone, isn't it? Like when I heard Crazy Train at the grocery store. It came out before I was born, but I was thinking... OZZY? AT THE GROCERY STORE?

I definitely did a very loud chuckle at that one. Or a snort laugh. I think it was a snort laugh!
