I dont disagree, but I'm not sure what those stricter guidelines would be. There are no real qualifications to be a Senator or Representative. You can even serve with a criminal record as long as you are a citizen and over 30.
I can believe it. The Professor was nearly the main character in the first season, but his role was dialed back to focus more on Gilligan and the Skipper hijinks.
