[EDIT: If you're using a VPN properly, Imgur will block you with a 403 error and pretend that their server is overstressed. If it was really overstressed, you'd see the silly giraffe; this is a lie. If you are seeing this, it means your VPN is almost certainly not set up correctly. VPNs are your friend, and anyone who isn't a friend of VPNs is your enemy. I am using Imgur almost not at all, consequently, until I either find a workaround or I just stop entirely.] You will be happier and mentally healthier if you can see that there's a trophy and choose not to pursue it even if it's easy, like "post a picture of fruit". Trophies are useless and manipulative; try not to be manipulated. Also, mute people liberally, and block tags. It takes a teeny bit of effort to learn, but it's worth it. I'll help if you can't figure it out. Only on desktop though; I don't use any apps for anything because you can't block tracking or advertisements on those. Switch to Firefox! Visit Librewolf.net for a build that is already set up with good adblockers and stuff. You can add more but it's nice to have it working right away. The secret word to prove you've read this is "Diced-Deucy" ...which was a default password for an AOL CD I got once.
Me too, but I am absolutely serious. I am so fricking tired of high schoolers and early college students as romantic leads; give me someone who has the grown-up struggles of someone with a mortgage, a trick knee, and only one pair of pants/bra that fit. ...and yeah, also a fricking HOA that has vague 'guidelines' on what counts as an insufficiently trimmed hedge.
You gotta have some reason for the protags to not get together right away; maybe one is the HOA badguy with secret reasons for it.
I think it was Snowden who said something like "I trust the person who closes their curtains more than I trust the person who is trying to peek through them."
(It was just the username I saw in the image. I strive in a possibly neurodivergent way to write with absolute nonambiguity...and it ends up with me making lots of words with lots of letters. : ) )
Your mileage may vary, but in both the book and the movie, I believe the teacher was both saying "hey, good job for memorizing the text" and also implying "but it'd be kinda better if you were to state your own opinion in your own words and with sincerity"
But that's just my opinion.
I love reading, and literally have five stacks of books on this desk with my laptop on it (and I'm in a hotel, so I had to bring these)
...but I don't read if I'm poking at the keyboard or puttering around the house or flipping channels.
I find that if I trap myself somewhere (a parking lot waiting on someone, a waiting room, a train or airport/plane...) I suddenly read just as voraciously as I did when I was an isolated child with no toys. So I do that a lot, and it makes me happier.
Sans is not liked by everybody. How do you feel about Papyrus?
If this is yours and you're not joking:
A random sticker, some sharpie scribbles, or a bit of painter's tape (because it's cheap and blue) are things I use all the time on my bottles. ...because I'm always re-using bottles or cartons for other types of fluid.
Also, I've stopped cleaning out and re-using hydrogen peroxide bottles for beverages. Even after you clean them out, it ruins the taste.
This was Ebert's take, as he put it in his review of Amadeus (IIRC). I try to remember that.
"Exact words of the text" isn't actually an endorsement.
Just in case someone wants more spelled out on this one:
The idea is that if you're writing a romance novel, many people want it to *end* with the lovers living happily ever after.
Often I'm one of those people. Happy fluff endings make me happy.
...but a romance that thrives for a while and then falls apart is also compelling, and is common in life, so the brittonashley person talking about it is advocating for stories where the romance doesn't work out; where there is no Happily Ever After
Will do: The mountain was once named after a now-dead politician who was also an asshole.
The mountain got renamed.
Someone got struck by lightning on the renamed mountain, and someone else joked that it's because the mountain was renamed. The joke implies the lightning came from (a) god.
I don't like the joke or the ideas behind it...but also I think if you publicly address dumb and bad ideas, you just give these poisonous jokes/attitudes more exposure and they do more harm. : /

There's an educational chapter in Moby Dick that most people skip. : 3
#46 Deer moss. ...though I love and miss aquavit and wish I could buy it around here.
To the garbage with that "let's keep immortalizing the dead genocidal politician asshole John Evans" reactionary nonsense, even if it's couched as a joke. ...but unfortunately posting the joke to clap back at it also platforms it. : /
#30 HEA = Happily Ever After. I had to look it up.
"I was hoping you'd fill in the innuendo for me" - MST3K
I'd like to know what the innards look like and how it was constructed.
I'm thinking it's like choosing what gear you're in when bicycling or whatever; they COULD get more leverage, but they'd have to move their feet farther, and the minimal movement when choked up is working better and takes less effort.
Either that or it's to fit in the frame better.
Please send a note to Jack in the Box and let them know they've got some product placement here they should be paying for.
...and so they're warring harder on intelligence
Earthworm Jim has bulked up and *improved*
If that's the Wild Kink Magazine issue I'm remembering, I'm honestly impressed he stopped at one box.
Also, it's surprising but apparently the fanbase is so pronounced that Legoshi has his own Wikipedia page. Not Beastars; just one Beastars character.
I'm glad. Also I like your username.
I find religious thinking... I can't say it's harmless, but it isn't...it isn't the real problem. It's *a* symptom of *a* major problem, but eh, since it's not going away...and since there are powerful and vindictive masses that persecute dissent, it's not wise or considered polite to say the emperor's naked and silly if the majority says he's not.
So sometimes we just gotta scream our frustration at the clouds in safe zones. So that's why.
Okay, I can't blame her; I'd try to hit that too.
I enjoyed the sequel book too.
I'd kind of like to tour France at a slower pace and with frequent snack stops.
Like, kudos on them for getting exercise, but that seems stressful and even a little dangerous.
You might be tempted to say "instead of complaining about the differently-thinking folk who are doing things you don't like, just accept that this is a consequence of some people being a different and move on."
Whether you are or not, it's advice you can also take.
A: It should be.
B: The often-NSFW webcomic Oglaf is good stuff. This is a panel from one of them.
C: Maybe you already knew that, but someone didn't, and they're about to really enjoy reading the archives. : ) Anyway, cheers!
Dang. That actually sounds pretty interesting. Thanks!
