Let's get this.... what the fuck is that?!

Modern dinosaur eyes are wild; there's no reason the eyes of their predatory ancestors weren't either.

This Mayan glyph is used for a certain style of war associated with where the planet Venus was in the night sky, specifically devastating wars of conquest that ended dynasties of various polities.

Since Mayan Archaeologists are fucking nerds [and we're also not sure how this verb was pronounced], they refer to this particular style of war as a "Star War."

Pippin tax!

Today's message from Pippin: [conure laughter]

1) Are you on the run to a safe place and passing through Arizona on your way to safer grounds? My apartment is open to you to crash at, and it is a safe space. Pippin and I will make you a meal and gladly share tea, wine, or mead with you.

2) Hey! Take your meds with a full glass of water, please. Do it for Pippin, or Space Mom, or better yet, do it for yourself.

3) Ĝefeloað wē. We will carry on.

4) all funds from the sales of items at these two links will be sent to support charities aiding to fight for Trans rights in the US (not just T-shirts!)

#27 God, I hated this whole fucking arc with Jean Ralphio and Mona Lisa. If Parks and Rec wanted to create the most obnoxious characters in history whom you want to fire into the sun within 5 seconds of meeting them, they succeeded.

Then again, this may be de rigueur for spoiled, unemployed, feral rich kids.

Doesn’t it say it in the text intro? I’m trying to remember. It’s been a long time since I’ve watched them.

It says it now, but I believe the original 1977 theatrical release didn’t have “Episode IV” anywhere in it

#1 I have been making bread for years. Even my first loaf turned out fine. I have an inability to understand how little someone was paying attention to a recipe to get this abomination. Bread needs 3 ingredients. You can get maybe 6 or 7 if you're doing something fancy. The process is simple (super simple if you have a stand mixer.. super simple but hard on the arms if you don't). Mix. knead, rise, shape, proof, bake. I feel like you have to actually put in effort for it to go this bad.

1 month ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Maybe they asked ChatGPT for instructions?

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I get what you are saying, but as a fellow dumb-ass I made a loaf very, very similar to this one pictured. It was so bad, that when I threw it away into the neighbors horse pasture, the horses ignored it. Birds ignored it. Insects passed on the opportunity. It sat in a pasture for at least a week before it dissolved into the earth.

I need to know.. and I don't hink any less of you as a human being.. I'm sure you're very nice. But holy hell.. HOW?! what did you do? (simple) Bread is *literally*: put yeast in warm (100F) water, let bloom for 5 minutes to make sure it's alive. Throw *all* the ingredients into a bowl. Mix until you have everything incorporated. Knead for 8-10 minutes (by hand or in a mixer with a hook), rise to double in a bowl, pour out and flatten, shape, proof, bake, cool, eat. You barely have to think.

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a penchant for ignoring "best by" dates. Like by years, some times. I think my yeast, like a parrot, had expired. The bread mix was most likely well past any date as well. Latest example was eating a pack of bacon I found in the fridge drawer that was from April. I do not throw away or waste any food.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I beg to differ with your last statement since you definitely wasted the yeast, flour, and anything else that went into your abominable bread-log.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#1 looks like no yeast or no kneeding, all the gas left or never was there
made a steamed pudding that was gluten free and it ended up like a cake jelly, the xantham gum was not working as it should

Looks like yellow cake uranium.
However they did it, their recipe is to die for!

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or too much salt. The comment is right, everything is wrong with this bread. It is baked playdough

1 month ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Or dead yeast.

1 month ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It also may have been humid, because that fucks up the rise and the gluten.

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I could be way off base, but the wire rack it's sitting on looks exactly like the one in my air fryer soooo, probably that on top of everything else. I've baked in professional kitchens before... Do not attempt to make bread in an air fryer, folks.

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isnt an air fryer just a poetable oven??

1 month ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kind of. Like a low-countertop-space convection oven. I own both a full-size convection oven and an air fryer that has trays identical to that; they work differently even though they're supposed to do the same job: blowing hot air over food

Home Excavator Association. When the HOA is run by Molepeople.

1 month ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

I choose to believe that HOA was intended here and that there's a sub-genre of romance that revolves around conflict with home owner's associations.

1 month ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Me too, but I am absolutely serious. I am so fricking tired of high schoolers and early college students as romantic leads; give me someone who has the grown-up struggles of someone with a mortgage, a trick knee, and only one pair of pants/bra that fit. ...and yeah, also a fricking HOA that has vague 'guidelines' on what counts as an insufficiently trimmed hedge.

You gotta have some reason for the protags to not get together right away; maybe one is the HOA badguy with secret reasons for it.

1 month ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

How does a "happily ever after" add to the conflict?

1 month ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Because the Heroine doesn't want to end up Happy so she fights against it

1 month ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ah, self-sabotage. That I understand.

1 month ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Just in case someone wants more spelled out on this one:
The idea is that if you're writing a romance novel, many people want it to *end* with the lovers living happily ever after.
Often I'm one of those people. Happy fluff endings make me happy.

...but a romance that thrives for a while and then falls apart is also compelling, and is common in life, so the brittonashley person talking about it is advocating for stories where the romance doesn't work out; where there is no Happily Ever After

1 month ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I want a romance that thrives for a while and then falls apart due to a constant struggle with the HOA

1 month ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

ffs now I have to look up what is "brittonashley person" and I was supposed to take care of all of these errands I gladly avoid
