Ever borrowed something from your parents? Get a little loan maybe? Do they ever help you with watching your kids for free or giving you a place to stay while you were figuring things out? Any gifts at all? Have there been times you really need to talk things out with someone and they were there for you? It's probably a lot more than you realize and it adds up to something greater than the sum of its parts. Try to imagine where you'd be if you subtracted all of those things from your life.
I spent a lot of time last year looking for work abroad with marketable skills and significant savings and I didn't get anywhere. Really hate how the "Love it or Leave it" crowd thinks it's easy to change countries.

It's not newsworthy to me. At his best he was already stupid, corrupt, and malicious beyond redemption. Newsworthy would be someone doing something about it. All of these little grievances aren't adding up to something actionable. Maybe we're all just waiting for him to expire from old age. Would it be different if he was younger?

The suit has already been dismissed because of the statute of limitations. I didn't know that was a thing for sexual crimes. Maybe because they were both minors during the time in question, it is? He's suing her for defamation because she's putting the accusations on social media. I'm not aware of any evidence but the mother and brothers support Sam's innocence. It's important to listen to people who claim abuse but we can't immediately assume guilt.

I watched the little end of credits scene to find out what I was missing. It shows the lamp guy taking off his lampshade and throwing it away in disgust. Personally, I feel a little attacked.
The one about the sun not causing cancer isn't one I heard before but I immediately loved the idea. Sunburns suck, but they're temporary. It's the danger of long term damage that I'm worried about and I worry every time I'm outside. I'd rather believe sunlight isn't that dangerous even though I know it's one of the most certain scientific conclusions that it is.
I like to think of how it would be used in a more Star Trek like society where we weren't all just fighting to survive. It's only a threat because the few people who managed to make a living off of creative work rarely live that way comfortably so any threat is existential. The employment disruption without any real societal consideration for our welfare has also been awful. I try to encourage people who hate AI to concern themselves more with helping the people it's affected than with bans.

Voting works. He was an outsider and just a joke before he got enough idiots to support him. Now everyone has to deal with him, including people on the right who hate him, because voters showed up for him. I'm worried about the damage he'll do to elections going forward (and what he's done already), but it's a priority for him because even he knows it matters.

Also, you're not expected to bring it home. You can waste as much as you like, and no one will be offended. Which made it really awkward when there was an "all you can eat" sushi restaurant that had a rule that you had to pay for any food you ordered but did not finish. I had friends suffer to avoid the extra bill that caught them completely off guard. That model didn't last long.
It's been rough stretch for me even with great background and interviewing skills and in the case of four companies I had TWO strong referrals! These data skills used to be in demand, but now I'm competing with hundreds of applicants for a job they only opened only a few days. Difficult times.

I read a book about international etiquette... what different countries consider polite or impolite. I was very curious what it had to say about Americans, and amused to read that they find it offensive to be offered only a "reasonable" amount of food. We apparently expect to be served more food than we can eat (or should eat at least). That sounds about right.
We're going to need to send a lot more paramedics to other countries to improve our reputation. Free vacations for US paramedics!
