Never had AC, never missed it. 20°C, what the hell? Don't most people heat their homes to around 20°C in Winter?!
"The Earth" will probably remain as a piece of rock flying through space. If there will be life on it, let alone higher life forms rather than just bacteria, is an entirely different question. The unprecedented mass release of all kinds of toxic chemicals, rapid spreading of dangerous viruses/fungi/bacteria, not to speak of radioactive material, could decimate the biosphere.
I miss the heat even in summer when the temperature dares to drop below 30°C.
It's sad that "waiting for buses" is such a time drain and also something that better-off people can and do avoid. Transit should be efficient and the natural choice for most people. That said, bicycles are a very cost-effective way of getting around town fast and yes, even in bad weather.
ADHD basically always comes with depression included. Treating the ADHD plus therapy for depression can help building a better life where the depression can't sneak in easily
I'd rather ride my bike in 3°C and rain/snow/sleet with headwind for 3h than sit in a petrol station queue for 3h, not to mention overpay for fuel that might just have run out. And the weather is so fair in the video people are walking around in shorts and T-Shirts...

Even when they're cut immediately after growing just a few centimeters? When they can't form leaves, even the roots won't survive...

You might not even be aware that you are doing this, that there are other ways, you might be physically unable to process your emotions quickly enough, to concentrate enough to argue your position, you might be too deeply hurt and continue being hurt to even consider the possibility things could change, might not have access to therapy... Actually I can't even imagine how to do this willingly, intentionally, having a choice.
But diamonds are artificially kept scarce, energy isn't. There's a few laws of physics that are preventing such a battery. BUT there ARE some ways you can save a lot of energy, both in your home and particularly on transportation. Additionally solar panels are now cheap enough that it pays off having them on your roof, but not exactly $1000-for-10-yrs-cheap. Funnily all those things are heavily opposed by society and politics...
Many people grow up being taught that they should NOT communicate their feelings, always be good and do as told. Additionally it can take a while to process those feelings and find a way to express what you didn't like, AND defend this against the other person's position.
Oh for sure, and they are for enjoying the moment rather than showing off how much money you wasted
I think that's exactly the point, a traditional and simple gift; combined with the cigarettes it's kind of a middlefinger to modern over-the-top "customs" and perhaps also "sensitivities" like the idea that smoking could be harmful. Even as as non-smoker I like the concept 😉
You can also just use a very simple ring, I married with an off-the-shelf €60 silver ring. It *is* nice to have a tangible token of the moment that you can take with you everywhere (unlike a cat), but it doesn't absolutely require diamonds... Friends did the same, lost the rings in the ocean on a holiday, but it doesn't matter as they were cheap - even a simple beach vacation can have more significance than signing marriage papers.

Strangely the right-wingers are usually firmly against the idea of having/employing art historians etc. but simultaneously are always going on about "cultural heritage" and "identity" and "tradition". What's your culture worth if there's nobody to remember, contextualize, decode it?
Heresy. The movie is amazing, it's the 2nd best Star Trek movie after "The undiscovered country". Star Trek was never really hard Science-based SciFi, particularly TOS had pretty unrealistic stories... But I just love those totally wack otherworldly stories. The 1st movie with its endless camera pans and cinematography takes the time to show you something beautiful while so many other movies are so hectic. The transcendent climax lifts you above the gritty realism of modern SciFi.

Woohoo I'm not the only one! I watched it at 6yo and couldn't sleep for weeks.
Lots of software is like this, but usually because some manager wanted it that way. When software engineers are allowed to implement their wet dreams, the product is usually super cryptic and requires a CS degree to operate but runs insanely fast, yet still fails to fulfill essential functionality.

Humans evolved in the Savannah and were apex predators because they could deal with the heat better than the prey. Humanity was born by and for the fire, not for air conditioned shopping malls.
How deeply ironic that the country with the large fossil fuel deposits that wants to make all the world depend on their supply by manipulating politics and public opinion, now faces their own supply chaos, all of which could be prevented by using sustainable energy and other transit concepts. I guess nobody wins except the oil bosses

Recently went on a spontaneous date with little texting before, he literally wrote "let's just talk in person". He was then on his phone the entire time. Like what?
The phone app is to deliver ads and collect data, the "changing wash programs" is an excuse to make you install the app.
In some places you can't even buy a bus ticket without having WhatsApp (yes, seriously). The national German train ticket requires an app. Appointments (doctors, city administration) need to be booked online, apartments and jobs can only be found on online platforms (if at all lol), a lot of information is about to be hidden behind AI agents, lots of products can only be bought online, some taxes need to be filed online, dating apps have supplanted in-person encounters etc etc.
