I am an old man, retired from State of Alaska. I like photography but am not very good at it. I like cats.

25 years of living in Anchorage and no moose hits, but several near misses. Close call at Kincaid Park. Big bull came out of the brush in front of me but he turned the other direction and left me alone.

The staggering stupidity Trump displays doesn't surprise me anymore. But the awful, knowing truth I have to live with is that all of his zombie followers have lived, worked, and gone through 70 years of life around me. Like a stranger in a strange world.

I am incredibly saddened at the state our country is in. In 70 years nothing has close to the shit Trump is getting away with.

I grew up in the era of 40% or more of the adults smoking. In the 60's cigarette ads on TV and adults could smoke anywhere. My father picked it up in the Army during WWII and went through 3 packs a day. He quit in 1972 and lived to be 90. My mom was two packs a day and never quit. It killed her in 1979, while I was finishing my last semester in college. Four more members of my family would die from lung cancer before the year 2000. It is a horrible disease and I would recommend not starting.

I will say that if I measure my anger on a scale of 1-10, the trans people I've met bring my righteous anger to about a 0.000000001, and that was because they drove an old Saturn sedan. Conversely, if I see our beloved orange fuhrer dressed up with his camo-orange paint spewing his lies and fake news then the number is closer to 100 billion times 100 billion.`

Is it as bad as the Deep Water Horizon fuck up?

Sorry, as you can tell I'm not a keyboard wizard. the post below should have ended with "Now I do." Trump/Musk is the greatest threat to this country...ever!

I'm almost 70. I remember JFK being shot, the race riots in the 60's and Vietnam lasting forever. I was there when Carter pulled us out of the '80 Olympics and then when Reagan should have been impeached for the Iran/Contra affair. I watched us roll up Iraq even when no weapons of mass destruction were found and cringed when Obama made a nuclear deal with Iran. But at no time in all those years did I doubt the people of America and the government it founded.

What we do not understand we fear. What we fear we learn to hate. I posit that the current president is afraid of everything as his hatred knows no bounds.

Trump is the greatest threat to democracy we have ever encountered. Please vote responsibly.

Good question. Traditionally photographers tried to break photos into three parts, either horizontal or vertical. I cropped this one so it’s 2/3 reflection and one part trees.

Look at other photos and you’ll see the pattern pretty quickly. It’s not a hard rule but it tends to enhance a picture, especially if it’s outdoors.

As an old person that has voted in every presidential election since 1976 I can categorically state this election is the most important one yet. Even more important than four years ago. The monster must be stopped! Now is the time for us to come to the aid of our country! Vote!!

My daughter was photographing him when she got the idea to use the flash. This was her reward.

He’s a rescue cat but generally avoids humans except when he’s hungry. My daughter has trained him to allow us to brush his coat before bedtime. He’s a good, gentle boy a little over four years old.

Pancake came to us with his name. Roadkill was left by the side of the road, starving and dehydrated. He could barely walk and I feared he would die. But with food and a little tenderness he pulled through. I waited a few days where we found him but no one came looking, which was good since I was a bit wound up about how he was treated.

I’m not a bad cook for a non culinary trained chef. But this a no-no.

Brilliant actor. He becomes the character to the point I can’t imagine anyone else in a role he’s done. There is no one else but him for Boyd Crowder.

Cook on low heat at first and then sear the steak at the end. Steak will be more evenly cooked through the whole steak.

He loves his “brushies” time when my daughter grooms him.

He does, but we give him “brushies” every night.

There’s just one problem with this. The moment they are taxed any hope of keeping them out of politics is gone. They will dump millions of dollars into supporting far right politicians. But nothing would please me more than seeing mega churches hammered.
