Sometimes doomed expeditions provide the best stories. Like I say, an adventure is an experience that leads to a good story that at least was uncomfortable while it was happening. I'd say this one qualifies.

That was the Fairness Doctrine that ran from WWII til Reagan. It urged broadcasters to cover important, controversial topics in their community. They had to air contrasting views on those issues to ensure a "reasonable balance" of opinions. They didn't have to put on a flat Earther after covering a manned rocket launch because everyone already knew the Earth was round. They did not have to put on an obvious lie after each truth.
Hell, by their definition my wife and I are already "terrorists." We're just not on their radar. Yet.

"Write down these directions..." "Honey, why?" "I'm about to jump this tower..." I could hear her holler at me, "You BRAT!" as I jumped. (Parachute opened on heading, everything went fine)
I literally don't know anybody celebrating this July 4th. I'm working both days, my wife refuses to put out her Independence Day decorations, and in the evening we're watching the "Terminator" movies. I usually jump my giant American flag (parachute with 1500 sq ft flag) but I haven't brought it out since Cheeto Hitler came back to power. Nothing to celebrate for now.
Well, maybe a little. Sliders don't really go back up, and once the ram air canopy is open it stays open from the holes in the front. The biggest reason we collapse the slider is that once it's down its job is done and an open slider inhibits the parachute's performance. But collapsing the slider does improve the view of the canopy, and it eliminates the annoying loud flapping noise.
That looks like a French military HALO jump, exiting a PZL M28 Skytruck. The FAA takes a dim view of falling through clouds, but this jumper is most likely not under US jurisdiction.
