No they didn't think menstrual blood was blue but because the blue liquid was used to represent blood and urine it led to a lot of weird assumptions about things being more connected than they are. Most of them thought that ladies just had a weird mix of stuff coming from the same hole. One memorable person thought menstruation was basically women becoming incontinent and pissing themselves uncontrollably for a few days a month.

That part is still studied, yeah, but there are bunch of glands around the vaginal and urethral entrance, which presumably can hold more or less fluid depending on the women and then can get squeezed out by the muscle contractions during orgasm. Women also don't have as big a prostate as men do, so there is less of a barrier there, too. But yeah, they can urinate whenever with no issue.

Sex ed? I've never had sex ed. All we had was the basic Natural Sciences where we studied things like where does the wind come from, how do volcanoes make the earth grow, what is acid rain, and how the human body works. This included everything about STDs (AIDS was big back then), how hormones work, and yes how human reproduction works. This was in middle school. There was no giggling or childish laughter. Just facts.
Then again... I live in Europe. So there's that.
