Ya and every time they DO raise the conversation, they reach the end of that story and promptly forget it. (Exception Ryker where they returned to him a few times in various stories, but never really do let the subject reach out to where it should touch, the actual USE of the transporter as it is.) Is annoying cuz they very obviously KNOW that sits there always being questioned, but never really want to deal with it, and just continue allowing people to suicide into particles.

Sadly, I think we have far passed the point where, without absolute phenomenal effort and resources, which as we know, those grasping the wealth of the world refuse to release, we could be saved. Even 10-15 years ago we were likely beyond that point. Doomist I know, but also realist. The only thing we COULD do, we simply will NOT. This is proven by, just as one example, how easily a certian child raping clown has destroyed anything that COULD have helped, and the people just stood around gazing.
you replace the area that once contained the dirt with your hand that previously only had 'air') - Thing is, they HAVE the technobabble in the startrekien universe already to easily and fully explain teleportation (as the effect we see in the shows) to easily bypass the 'murder original create fresh copy' issues that has plagued the lore of the 'reality' since the conceived idea. But someone was too lazy to bother, so they keep tripping over the issues they created.
Well no, (if you mean compared to the teleportation effect they have) since it is literally a bridge between the two, connecting 2 points in space via 4 or higher dimensions. Basically a 'doorway' u simply step though, not 'transferring' matter in any sense, than the obvious 'stepping though' - and no(if u mean the swapping area of 2 separate points in space) which WOULD be closer to teleportation, but is pretty much the same as above (like scooping a handful of dirt, with the 'scooping' action
I mean they could have sidestepped the whole issue by making it some kinda 'subspace wormhole doorway' type deal(Even if just to swap the 'source area with target area') - but the energy and words wasted trying to walk back the 'murder original copy continues on' was the thing they went with instead. Due to the fact it would break nearly every rule the starfleet stands by, top among them murder and 'creating new life' things.
Character in Invincible explores this. Still chooses to do it cuz his life is hell as he is, and even if his existence 'ends' (His body is dying) he gives his 'copy' a chance to live the life he could not.
This actually gives me a good idea for a super-hero turned villain story about (as a hero) them banishing monsters and terrifying aliens to a pocket dimension, but upon turning villain, unleashing them upon unsuspecting worlds or as revenge.. or worse, due to non-payment for previous heroic deeds...

This is the only reason birthdays and Christmas should exist imo. The look on a kiddo's face when they get a gift they REALLY want IE not some frumpy new clothing or other stuff u 'need' but put in presents just to make it look like 'lots of gifts' under the tree.. only ONE gift can make a xmas or b-day remembered for life. Don't shower them with junk, put put ACTUAL THOUGHT into a gift, and seek that which THEY desire not what YOU want them to have. (Many parents NEVER get this one thing)
yea, like i said, it is, due to them being unable to actually CONSENT, a form of molestation that isn't quite fair to them. If u wanna do it and your cat is ok with it, fine, but just do it knowing you could(and very likely are) basically giving them the equivalent of a hand job.

For dual reasons. First off, the 'sexual nerves' of cats (I don't know if same with others) do not really separate between pain and pleasure, so it only sparks 'shits happening' down there' - so can overstimulate and bother them. Some female cats(both spayed and otherwise) also get that, but is just as common for them to enjoy it(at various levels of pressure) - not that it hurts them, just that it triggers that effect.

I still think in 50-100 years, if we even exist anymore as a species at that point, people will look back on the trump era and truly wonder if it really happened, or, was like the bible, and written as a way to 'teach' people the foolishness of the age. Will people actually believe he existed? Or will they think someone penned the words (or used Deepfakes) to tell a story of the most foolish society who 'picked' the person most likely to destroy humanity from within. Like a symbol of pure evil.
