A friend of mine once mistook wasabi for guacamole at a party and put a big dollop of it on a chip and popped it in his mouth before anybody could stop him.
Of course, we laughed our asses off because we were in our 20s and very drunk.
The parents fed that 1.5 year old wasabi and filmed their reaction. Poor kid is looking at them asking them to stop the burn. Also the kid didn't want to eat it, but they really worked at convincing them to
Just seeing that gave my upper sinuses the reflexive ripple and a nose scrunch shortly followed. :D
Currently, out of my social rhombus, I'm the only one that will actually consume the dollop of wasabi, and the slices of ginger, any time we're having sushi. Many years ago, a late friend was browsing at an Asian supermarket and figured a bag of dried peas, dipped in wasabi, was an interesting snack choice — he absolutely regretted it, but I enjoyed them, likely to everyone else's horror.
Those peas are delicious, no joke. I can take or leave peas themselves, they're fine, but the crunch they provide and the flavor of the wasabi is great in small doses. I wouldn't recommend eating the whole bag in one go though. Serving sizes are key.
I do the same with spiced almonds. Habanero and Ghost pepper almonds are delicious. Great snack when gaming. Just slowly eat one or two here and there during some afternoon gaming. A small can will last me at least a week.
Was in SC / GA for a few weeks, and enjoyed a local sushi place a few times —balanced the wasabi and ginger out with a handful of some cinnamon bourbon pecans after the last Spicy Tuna Maki. So much flavor between that quick meal and dessert snack, haha.
it tastes a lot like the dyed horseradish, just a bit more earthy and a lot stronger, its the same chemical. Sorta how like habenero and jalepeno are kind of similar
Had some at a few nice restaurants while on our trip a few months ago. It was great. A very faint hint of sweetness, and then just the clean, clear heat and flavor you probably already associate with it, but... better. I still don't mind the dyed horseradish stuff, but if that's a B grade flavor, the real stuff is a solid A. I imagine there is further variance between exact recipes/processes but don't have enough experience to say for sure.

Did you know that there are US farms growing real Wasabi, and it isn't very expensive.

Uncle Roger so disappointed. Why so weak? Hi-yahhh.
Hexidimentional
the fact that he has really good chopstick form implies that he knows what wasabi is, and listened to the intrusive thoughts

Live in Thailand, no wasabi

He seemed a bit distracted - maybe he just wasn’t looking at what he picked up from the plate?

May have learned chopsticks eating at Chinese restaurants ?
Dinwiddie
Hmm... Well that's how I learned, and if I were to go to a restaurant that served wasabi I may well have also done the same if I'd not seen this clip.

There is no help, it's between you and God. Since God doesn't exist, you're on your own, buddy. This roller coaster sucks.

Honestly how would you help? Only advice I could give would be to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

Haha, absolutely so; a few handfuls still feels like just the right amount per sitting, with a bag lasting a fair two to three days.
The crunch and kick are multi-sensory appreciation moments. :D
