A (former cop) ex coworker once told me he didn't appreciate being called a cop, saying he preferred policeman or, barring that, law enforcement officer. I said, "Wait, so you're okay with choosing your pronouns now?" He didn't like that but I didn't care because he'd already transitioned away from cop.
