Third person point of view. " the narrator exists outside the events of the story" The narrator aka videographer is demonstrating the newlyweds. 1st person and 3rd person are BOTH point of view.
I could be wrong, but it seems staged to me- in that I wonder how much of it was actually painted then and there instead of pre-painted. But maybe she really is that fast. But to do symmetrical fine lines like that on the fly?
Third person point of view. "the narrator exists outside the events of the story" The narrator aka videographer is demonstrating the newlyweds. 1st person and 3rd person are BOTH point of view.
This is a third person point of view of "your wedding". You are meant to identify with the newlyweds from a third person perspective. This makes it easier to see their reactions/emotions and identify with them. A first person view of your wedding, a 2nd person view of your wedding, and a third person view of your wedding ALL EXIST and are all valid points of view.
You're wrong. It's clear you're wrong. It's okay to admit you're wrong. It specifically says "your wedding". Your. Possessive. Meaning first person. It's okay, you'll get it one day until then, just keep trying. I believe in you.
If I say "your dog" in first person how does that imply that I am the owner of the dog?Even if you want to force there to only be first person, then "my first person view of YOUR WEDDING" would be CORRECT usage of your. "I took a photo of your wedding" so anyone complaining about this being the wrong POV is wrong AF.
Third person point of view. "the narrator exists outside the events of the story" The narrator aka videographer is demonstrating the newlyweds. 1st person and 3rd person are BOTH point of view.
Everything is someone's POV, so why even bother using the term at that point? The usage of the term "POV" is meant to immerse the viewer of a video into a character's shoes, so to speak. Unless the camera person is an actual character, it's just our POV.
It's not wrong to call it a POV. The same way its not wrong to call a cat a mammal even though a dog is also a mammal, would you state 'why even bother having mammal as a term at that point'? The reason why its a 3rd person point of view of "your wedding" is so that we see the emotions on the faces of the newlyweds so we can use EMPATHY to feel what they are feeling. Just looking at a random picture of random people is not immersive. 1/?
And no, its not our POV. Why is that you ask? Because we are supposed to understand the situation as IF we are the newlyweds and empathize and feel how happy WE would be if WE obtained this painting. This is compared to a FIRST PERSON POV where "you are at your friends wedding and they got a cool photo" which would make us empathize with seeing your friends get something cool. I don't think I need to state the difference in impact between 2/?
comparing ourselves getting a wedding gift VS our friends getting a wedding gift. One of them is more impactful. Stating this is a third person point of view specifies who we are meant to empathize most with. Btw a snake is not a mammal. In the same we differentiate a first person view of a friend VS a third person view of ourselves. They are geometrically the same point of view however contextually DIFFERENT points of view. 3/3
POV: Your soul bifurcates into two separate entities, and one of them becomes disembodied and floats outside of your body and observes you reacting to a painting.
Third person point of view. " the narrator exists outside the events of the story" The narrator aka videographer is demonstrating the newlyweds. 1st person and 3rd person are BOTH point of view.
Which makes the distinction meaningless and the need to label it as meaningless. Point of view only has one value, and that is to reference the view of the subject of interest. No one cares about the camera, the camera is a stand in for the audience's view, even if under direction of the narrator/videographer.
Point of view IS meaningless. It's like stating that "animal must mean cats only" even though dogs are animals too. "How DARE you say dogs are animals, 'animal' has only one value and it is cat." By your definition there is no such thing as a first person point of view because the person is simply putting a camera in front of their eye. You can NEVER see a video from someones POV because the camera must always be several microns further forward than the focal point of their eyeball. 1/?
If you don't want to accept that there are more than 1 points to view something from, then you have to accept that POV is impossible. Or you can accept that third person point of view is a valid use of "point of view" and stop trying to be elitist. 2/2
I'm not putting down the painter, the painting is awesome but I saw one during a wedding and she has a picture for reference. The live painting was the painter
It depends. Photos are good for details the artist can't see well enough and can't memorise, if the artist is using the setting as the model that counts as a live painting even if they can't ask the people there to pose for them.
English is my second language, so let me try explain. I just wanted to point out that what i thought of live painting was a painter painting the environment around her. It was not. You paid for a live painter painting a photo. It's a hired entertainment like a photo booth.
"any point of view from any possible observer" so it's effectively meaningless because under that definition it describes literally every bit of filmed media ever produced. These people are morons.
POV Point of View and in film signifies what the described person, the 'newly weds' in this case, would be seeing if the camera were they're eyes. The real POV in this video is 'POV you're the wedding videographer'.
Yeah. Well, I make it a point to celebrate in an exaggerated way when someone manages to actually use it right. It's like finding a unicorn in the wilds.
I feel like rather suddenly too? It feels like randomly overnight people went from describing videos of what they were doing to randomly throwing POV at the start… and I suspect twit-tok is to blame 🙄
Third person point of view. " the narrator exists outside the events of the story" The narrator aka videographer is demonstrating the newlyweds. 1st person and 3rd person are BOTH point of view.
A point of view is absolutely synonymous with first person. That is literally what it is, the point from which an observer views something, in first person, i.e. from their perspective. An observer can't observe anything anyhow from anything but a first-person perspective.
Those links don't support your theory. It does not say the observer is supposed to be you. The second one even includes the figurative view. There is a reason we specify. Second and third person point of view exist. And has existed as an idea since long before camera's were even invented. To claim that just cause POV is used in a video it HAS to be first person is asinine. Even in film its not a "through the eyes" mandatory https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Point-of-view_shot
Did you read the wiki article you posted? It says first person, or over the shoulder of the subject, which is third person but still their point of view. This is a weird hill to die on. POV means a character's point of view, and the rest of this title makes it clear it's supposed to be the couple's point of view, which is not what we're seeing. Second person POV is asinine, that's still a character's POV, just a different character.
"Which is third person but still their POV" Do you HEAR yourself?! Yes it means the characters point of view but YOU are not always in the characters shoes. And yes its a character's POV which is NOT necessarily first person. You say its a weird hill to die on but its YOU trying to limit POV to a singular definition and then claim the post is running afoul of it. I am literally saying its FAR more flexible and both your links and mine show that to be true. Die mad about it.
It doesn't have to be first person but it shouldn't, as it so often is these days, be almost entirely focused on those that are meant to be observing (whose point of view we are meant to be seeing given the description), not what is being observed (the thing they are talking about being the focus of the point of view). At least in the last 1/3rd of this video we do get to see what they are looking at. They could make it accurate if they wanted with no effort and it adds nothing anyway.
For some reason it’s a small thing that irritates me. It’s like if you can’t manage to get the small stuff sorted how can I trust you with big stuff? Also this complete disregard for what POV means feels like an AI hallucination sometimes.
The odds say they will stay married. 41% of first marriages end in divorce, and that is going back a while. It is even lower for today as divorce rates have been falling.
I didn't, I looked up actual studies published in journals on divorce rates and quoted their statistic and summarized their trends
Do you understand the idea of a percentage of a total? The total can be reduced but the percentage of the total can stay at the same percentage. For divorce, yes less people are getting married in total, but also the ones that do get married are less likely to get divorced.
And EVEN IF you want to quibble about the trend, the point stands that any first time marriage is MORE LIKELY to stay married than end in divorce, which was the whole point of the reply to the post saying that the odds are they will be divorced. In fact, it is the opposite.
Imgur has always been an amalgamation of content from other apps, id rather see 1 good tiktok on imgur than download tiktok and wade through a mountain of garbage for 1 good post.
Iunno, i wouldn't have seen the video if not for imgur or maybe youtube or Facebook feeds eventually. but I definitely wouldn't have found it through tik tok.
I don't mind if it's a good video like this. It's the regular TikTok slop I didn't want to see, like dancing teens or annoying af rapid fire gibberish with single word "subtitles"
Or a video with a floating, do nothing head. I honestly HATE those videos because half the time they don't even react in any way. It would be one thing if you saw them laughing or something, but they usually are just dead staring at you as you watch a barely funny/interesting video clip.
The issue with Tik-Tok is the platform itself, not the content. If I can see quality stuff, without having to deal with the platform, I fail to see the issue
If we're avoiding TikTok because of it's satanic algorithms then I've got news for everyone about other social media, where nearly everything is shared these days.
Its not about the algorithm, nor about the content.
Its about the government that controls it, and the monstrosities it has proved capable of that makes US prisons look like a hotel, and the posibilities that such a popular app give them.
I think we can agree that advertising content on a platform that is constantly sending deep user information to the Chinese government should generally be discouraged. Yes, all social media is bad. Tiktok is widely known to be the worst.

Here you go, I got rid of that bad scawwy watermark for you! (P.S. literally half the content on this site is TikTok whether it says so or not)
LordElups
Buddy that ship sailed a loooong time ago.

Are we pretending imgur is good enough to be protected in any way?
PorneliusHubertII
Imgur has always been an amalgamation of content from other apps, id rather see 1 good tiktok on imgur than download tiktok and wade through a mountain of garbage for 1 good post.
givinyouthegoodpipe
This sign guy's representatives reached out to me this week. Actively pitching brand sponsorships with "guy with the sign".
rusrsdude
Where else we gonna steal content from?!

It's all The internet. It was supposed to be shared
MuffinProof
And what a mistake that turned out to be.
gogomojo829
Iunno, i wouldn't have seen the video if not for imgur or maybe youtube or Facebook feeds eventually. but I definitely wouldn't have found it through tik tok.
MuffinProof
Oh, I meant the internet. It sounded better in my head.
PrincessPuffyPants
They're adding positive content.... maybe lighten up a little
JaceTiger
I don't mind if it's a good video like this. It's the regular TikTok slop I didn't want to see, like dancing teens or annoying af rapid fire gibberish with single word "subtitles"
Dybidude5
Mhh ice cream so good!
MCNewYorkLives
Or a video with a floating, do nothing head. I honestly HATE those videos because half the time they don't even react in any way. It would be one thing if you saw them laughing or something, but they usually are just dead staring at you as you watch a barely funny/interesting video clip.
FellaWithUmbrella
Well, this got that regular TikTok crappy music. I would rather hear their voices.
factcheckmate
I have rather watch tiktok creme of the crop here, than going on tiktok

The issue with Tik-Tok is the platform itself, not the content. If I can see quality stuff, without having to deal with the platform, I fail to see the issue

Being anti-TikTok isn't a personality

Get over yourself.
Swedishbouldering
I don't mind most tiktok content, as long as the extreme right maga and Israeli supporters stay there. Those are the reason I uninstalled tiktok
blubberingbastard
I'll just say that those who are willing to risk their personal security to bring us content are both brave and dumb and I thank them for it.
NinjaCongo
No politics, no bots, no AI, no TikTok and no furries! Ofc, that leaves very little to post, but...
ausernamewhat
The furry shit can go away and I would be happier but I'm not here to kink shame anyone unless you're into being kink shamed.
titoitoi
If we're avoiding TikTok because of it's satanic algorithms then I've got news for everyone about other social media, where nearly everything is shared these days.
mieper3
Its not about the algorithm, nor about the content.
Its about the government that controls it, and the monstrosities it has proved capable of that makes US prisons look like a hotel, and the posibilities that such a popular app give them.
spittinfacts
I think we can agree that advertising content on a platform that is constantly sending deep user information to the Chinese government should generally be discouraged. Yes, all social media is bad. Tiktok is widely known to be the worst.
RetrogradeLlama
No one wants Imgur to become the TikTok repost zone.
keyblader1985
As opposed to the literally everything else repost zone
Hayashima
Hey, if I get to view quality TikTok content without giving them clicks, I consider it a win
