She made a good point. I have not once used Planned Parenthood to actually have an abortion. I got STD testing and was prescribed bcontrol.
Electriccarsbestcars
I got UTI help and birth control when I had no insurance! Lovely people.

NotWavingDrowning
Every one killed at the latest attack were parents.
nosbojden
Victoria, Australia just made it illegal to protest within 150 meters of a health clinic. This shit wouldnt fly here.
ChexM8Bro
The US has a similar law. The OPs comments about protestors were probably before that law took effect.
PleasantlySurprised
The law for the buffer zone is new, making it illegal for anti-abortion protesters to harass/film women going in/coming out of clinics 1/2
In 2001, an anti-abortion douche killed a clinic security guard. The asshat wanted to kill everyone inside and burn the clinic in Melb 2/2
polarofix
France, no one publicly protest about that , and you can have one in a public hospital.
Doomboy
wait victoria did that? thank fucking god
abb133
Right on dude. I'm getting grilled down here with my comment wtf..... Pp saved me man. Y are they taking lives!!??
UpvotesMcGoats
I wish they would only be allowed to protest on a busy highway. I'm sure they'd stop protesting if they are too busy dodging cars all day.
adrastea72
I'm really REALLY pro choice!! BUT I'm also really for my right to protest peacefully. PP needs protection w/out restricting our voices.
To clarify: I'd NEVER protest a PP! I want to make it rich just to donate money to the org. I just dont want to infringe on our other rights
sasha01198
they haven't restricted their opinions they just made them move over, making sure they don't harass women and get in their face. that's it.
Yes, I agree. And I'll go further and say theyre a bunch of jerks. I used to work in a grocery store, with those solicitors outside 1/?
asking for donations. And customers were so irate. Make them go away! And, I'm like, Lady, freedom of speech, don't ask for your rights 2/?
AndSoAdInfinitum
Protesting at government buildings targets the ministers, who make decisions. Protesting at a clinic targets the clients, with fear as its aim
Textuality
It's the "peacefully" part that a lot of them fail. Screaming epithets, holding up signs of dead bodies, etc, isn't "peaceful".
This is said very well +1
SkittlesTheCat
I live in Queensland where sadly it still illegal unless recommended by a doctor. It is a backwards state still, unfortunately.
Turtlepoos
When i needed a termination in QLD, i had to have 2 doctors say i would be an unfit parent to allow it. Really fucking sucked.
That's terrible :-(
melatriama
Dumb american here: I know you guys have national healthcare, so can you just go to a different state to obtain an abortion if they're 1/
Queensland is a rather large state, some people may be 1200+miles from another state. You are right however, they could travel for it
illegal in your state? Will your healthcare cover it, or does it even cover it in the first place?
chookennoodlepoop
Most of our states allow abortion with a Drs request. Depending on type of abortion & gestation, from $40 - $800, with a small rebate.
There is no medicare rebate here as far as i know, its an out of pocket procedure
EnderChekholv
What about protests against malpractice?
basicwhitelich
Protests against malpractice are called lawsuits sweety
Come on now, many people have been ripped off or unfairly compensated through lawsuits...I am one. I am not ignorant on this topic at all.
Nessimon
In most civilised countries you have a formal complaint process. You don't need to stand outside anywhere, yelling, to be heard.
Peaceful protests? Do governments of "civilized countries" actually listen and take action in support of complaints? Genuinely curious.
Yeah, after all, we control the government, not the other way around!
WScarlet
... Keep telling yourself that. Follow the money, and you'll find who's in charge.
MissPammie
I was at PP for a pregnancy test back in Feb & when I left I passed a small group of protestors & one of them gave me a rose. I was confused
IAlwaysUpvoteDumps
See, the majority of protesters are not maniacs. Only the latter make the news, though.
SomeGeographer
I was spit on and called a whore by a group of them outside my Planned Parenthood in 08. I was going there for an annual exam.
I am very sorry this happened to you. There is no excuse for what these people did.

I've never needed PP personally, but I donate a chunk to them every year because this matters. We can't let the terrorists win.

When I was 16, I had an abortion by Dr. Tiller. It made me turn my life around, in a good way. I cried when he was killed.

Why dude why? Go troll somewhere else
EhhhWhatsUpDoc
Just because you don't like what you read doesn't mean it's trolling
But this was just rude and hateful.
Pointing out that her parents didn't do to their child what she did to hers is rude and hateful?
Reidsb
Thank you for sharing this.
AlabamaSlammer
I had one when I was 15, picketers were outside, those assholes made me change my outlook on others. I'm 21, happy, and in college now.
Just so everyone understands, I was pro-life until this happened, and now I hate the idea that it's categorized as pro-life or pro-choice.
Also thanks for all the words of support. It drowns out the negative ones :-)
teloft
remeber him and selebrate his life at his clinic every year for me if you can.
datbaish
Tiller was a super nice man, my dad use to body guard for his wife when she went grocery shopping. He trained their dog Axel too :)
SaucyDisses
I... I don't know how to respond to this but give you my condolences.
hadoeken
If there was a person who achieved true martyrdom for their cause in modern society, it's definitely Dr. Tiller.

Your parents lives couldve been turned around if they made the same decision you did.I guess they LET YOU LIVE.I wish the baby has- oh wait.
8scout8
Just a quick note: often times, those who get abortions tend to turn their lives around, especially in the area of sex. More protection, etc
SlothStormborn
My friends got an abortion when she was a full grown adult because she didn't want a family YET.
NotHotSwedishGirl
Awesome, she sounds like a really responsible person. Having a baby should always be on your own terms :)
It changed my sex life but it mostly made me a better person. I entered the field of social work because of it.
I'm glad you had a positive change through this experience. Many people don't recognize that tends to happen after events like this :)
beyondthetacostand
Changed my life in a positive way. Knew a child wasn't in my wheelhouse Ave still isn't. No regrets. Would go back and do the same thing
Agreed. And many times a woman could be doing everything right in life and dont need to turn their lives around. There shouldnt be a stigma.
caboops
The stigma is more for the life that was ended, not the one that got to continue.
AJBatson
This strawman pro-life people foist up of women getting abortions as birth control must just think women are all psychopaths.
buttermyarse
2. The easier method is if you are deliberately withholding these methods from people or not giving it to them as an option.
I've had this discussion before. Ita just not logical when you compare how easy it is to take contraception. The only time it would become

Very brave for sharing. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
Thanks for the compassion :-)
iuploadbearpics
Which loss, the murdering doctor or the kid she killed? Sadly, she mourns the doctor who killed her child, but not the actual child. SMH
It's ironic, isn't it?
BreadyStinellis
You don't know she doesn't mourn that child.

You don't know that. Abortion is not any easy choice, I'm sure she still thinks about it enough without dicks on the internet shaming her.

What I don't understand is that a large majority of those hostile "pro-lifers" don't care about the baby anymore once it's born.
vanella
Pro-lifers killing people, what an oxymoron....
emordnilapasti
I don't mean to be that guy, but that's irony, not an onxymoron :P Have an upvote nonetheless.

So, cut off their oxygen supply and you're left with a dead moron?
I should point out I'm in no way advocating murder, murder is bad. Word play on the other hand is fun.
TheCrustyMustard
I compare pro-lifers to collectors. They only care about the product while it's still in the wrapper.
PuppyKicker
Talk about a literary divide. For sure
greenroom628
not defending it, but they see themselves as "protecting life that can't protect itself." after birth though, fuck it, you're on your own.
MerToo
I presume they execute any woman that has a miscarriage?
emi8ly
I refer to them as pro-birthers not pro-lifers

That's all they are. They couldn't be bothered to give half a shit about anyone once they pass through the vagina.
philcollinsdrumbreakdown
Or anyone WITH a vagina
...but a leech is not life, it cannot live on its own outside the body (just stating a fact)
stevetehpirate
"protecting fetuses that can't protect themselves" once it's a baby, the parents better be able to pay for that food/medical expenses!
snarflex
The same argument was used during abolition. "If we free the slaves, are YOU going to take care of them? No? Then leave them be."
chastidy
Giving the death sentence to a murderer. Makes sense to me as long as they see abortion as murder
It's subjective
That abortion is murder? Agreed.
So we are agreeing that it's opinion-based whether it's murder or not?
It appears that way.
DoctorWatchamacallit
no, that's irony. Billy Mays is an oxymoron

Yeah like they arent covering the recent PP shooter at all.../s. It helps if you watch the news to begin with. And Imgur doesnt count.
electricmind
Well of course because terrorism only comes in form of muslims doing terroristic acts. Sad world.

So all pro-lifers are Christian? Interesting....
GuardsmanMiku
you know the answer to that as much as i do
Custardmug
I think most disagree with the death penalty to begin with
You wouldn't want to shoot a mass murderer that you knew wouldn't be jailed for his actions?
That's a different argument. I'm talking about capital punishment itself.
Well it's a pretty closely related argument haha. And Kansas currently does have the death penalty as far as I know.
Pandanym
I feel like people got the wrong message in your comment. Here, have an upvote.
Haha looks like it. I am not saying they are murderers, just trying to introduce some empathy.

Im just wondering but if im a guy can I go into a PP for an STD test?

Absolutely!
Can my sister get a mammogram?
Smashlekins
Yes. They do breast exams.
dayumdayumdayum
For a lot of people, men and women, PP is their only primary care. They do amazing stuff there for anybody.
And men can use birth control and STD protection as well. They give men plenty of condoms if requested.
veronicamarsdestroyerofworlds
They will provide excellent medical care and a 100% judgement-free treatment. PP is the best.
of course you can! It's planned parenthood for everyone.
AncientSeraph
STDs aren't strictly related to parenthood (I wouldn't have guessed from their name that it'd be possible).
Yes. PP offers medical care, knowledge and supplies to anyone regardless of gender, sexuality, color or creed.
SwarthyPirateLove
+1 upvote for awareness

I have! And when I was super broke and young. PP came through for me.

great question... time to get my PP tested

Yep. I did that after my wife said she wanted a divorce and I figured out that she had been cheating on me.
ImguriansFillMySaltReservoir
I'm pretty sure when a guy goes into a PP it's called docking.
woodjoiner
They will also give you a nice verity pack of condoms. Great way to find the brand that fits you best.
motittiesmoproblems
I was there yesterday to get some bc and it was like 75% boys and 25% women
PRNRN
and that's not all, you can go there for a wide range of reproductive health needs. And they really care.
thisplaceisnotforyou
Um, not sure. According to the Grand Ole Retard Party you can only go there to murder babies. Very metal.
madddawggg
100%. Tell your friends. Spread the word. PP is not just for women and unfortunately, alot of people still do not know this.

Gender is the wrong word when you're talking about sex organ differentiation... yes any gender, but more importantly, either/any sex.
Thank you!
LightningMcQueensStuntDouble
You go yet?
internetheroxD
Cancer? They do?
fibonacciismyhomedog
They can perform out patient procedures for precancerous cells as well as screening
Dragonbug300
I think they screen for cancer and help people find resources to treat it for minimal cost. I don't think they can treat it themselves.
Interesting, thanks mate!
DIRIG0
Most importantly it's usually inexpensive and confidential
For what it's worth I'm a male who is trying to encourage others to be proactive about their sexual health :)
Only usually confidential. Other times they post your face on FB, along with a picture of the horrible rash you had.
I'm both upset and curious about this story... Tell me more!
Cool. We're making up more fake stories about Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood stole my bike.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law
Woah, it was a joke on his unfortunate placement of 'usually'. I thought I was exaggerating enough to make that obvious. Sheesh.
Great I'm glad 16 year Olds can have abortions without ever letting their parents know! Amazing!
HarmlessDickbutt
When that's life or death for you you'll be glad it's there.
That can never happen.
When you're in an abusive situation it absolutely can feel like life or death
When the 16 year old's dad raped her, I'm very glad the parents don't have to know. Confidential medical care is important.
So your one hypothetical situation supercedes everything? A rapist dad would be put in prison, and would not have parental rights anyway.
A rapist dad usually won't be put in prison and even rapists have parental rights in most states. And that means rights over the baby 1/2
Side note - most people don't need legal protections most of the time. ALL of our legal protections are there because we can't predict 1/2
that came from the incestual rape. 2/2
TardisBatman
The fact that so called "adults" pull this kind of shit is just fucking sad.
ObligatoryFate
It's okay that people kill babies but not okay that people are so sickened, so very disgusted by it that it drives them mad.
NationalistCanadianMooseWarrior
No kidding. It's a temper tantrum, except they have access to weapons.
ExtremistSatire
adults are the people who commit atrocity for the most part. I wouldn't go about saying they are acting like children.
LetMePickMyTeethThenHaveMoreChips2
Aren't you allowed to shoot them if they attempt to set the place on fire? Seems fair.
AnalClarinet
As someone who lives in Kansas I am quite sure the law is that if it is out of self-protection, you can. Which in this case it would be...
chase7436
Often, people who dedicate their lives to helping and improving others' lives don't like to take life, even if they're threatened.
dotaloc
Depends on the state, i'd imagine... And if you could reasonably argue that the fire endangers the shooter.
IWouldDoThings
I truly can't understand how some people make it their daily lives to harass and terrorize other people. They get up and plan these things??
Yeah, they harass people that get up every day to kill babies. What is wrong with these people?
illogicalphallusies
Fetus*...until you are capable of tak8ng your own breath on your own unassisted you are not a baby.
Jawsmine
Agreed. A week or two in, you're smaller than a freckle. Like getting a mole removed.
It's un-American and un-Christian to harass and assault those people because you don't agree with them. It's bullying. Nothing more.
AllLeoAllTheTime
One of my best friends was staunchly pro-life, until she scheduled her abortion. Super convenient.
CheweyHeathen
Same with my friend. She apparently didn't want to use condoms or have a half black baby. Very moral, huh?
Cheomesh
Few plans survive contact with the enemy
How very sad.
hypostatic
Like, how is this NOT treated as terrorism by the law??? What do they need to do for that, wear a turban?!
PewPin
It in fact is treated as terrorism by the law. And law enforcement takes cases like this seriously. But its hard to find perpetrators.
TooLazyToDoSomethingElse
I would say the picketers are preaching hate speech and sometimes practicing terrorism.
Picketing itself isn't terrorism. It's aim might be similar, but the means are very much different (i.e. non-violent/criminal).
No but it could be perceived as hate speech, and their shooting, bombing, breaking private property could be perceived as terrorism.
If they commit crimes as well, it should be considered terrorism, obviously. Hate speech is a thin line I don't want to bother myself with.
yaweed
7-11 was a part time job
Rtaxx
its been going on since LONG before 9/11, which is the date when religious fanaticism became terrorism... back then they were just nutjobs
Because it's only terrorism when *non*white people do it.
Except for the whole Oklahoma City thing.
Yes.
ballsohard2202
It is? The gov treats it as such.
RaggedWombat
I may be wrong but I do believe that they treat it as an act of domestic terrorism, but not the same as international terrorism.
poochyena
It... is....
mynameisntfuckingwarren
Because the terrorists in these cases are mostly white and Christian. That's why.
LizardEnterprises
Maybe because the war on terrorism is more about getting politicians re-elected than actually making people safe? Nah, couldn't be that...
GIsLife
The government treats this as terrorism though. By law, terrorism is any violent crime politically motivated so yeah this qualifies
senshu
It is, when it actually, you know, happens.
CPatricoo
Yea these things are crimes and clinic reports them.
justpointingouttheobvious
Canada's intelligence Agency actually defines anti-abortion violence as "single-issue terrorism". But we all know America is fucked up so..
RosyCheeks20
It technically is. All of those things are against the law. Enforcement is the problem.

Glad someone said that
No no no only if they aren't white
peterhjp
It is terrorism. But if you're going to let dictionary definition decide it just imagine what the gov have to face for, say, training 1/2
mayormckreedy
They just have to rename "terrorists". I know it's not the dictionary definition but I always took it to mean an organized group.
guerillas/soldiers abroad, so on.. A whole clusterfuck of walnutty proportions.
HappyTheKangaroo
Christians cannot commit terrorism. God must kill people who don't kill people they way he wants people killed & sometimes he needs help.Duh

I'm pretty sure God can kill as he pleases without the need for Cletus doing it in his stead.
I agree with you, now let's convince Cletus.

What has a turban got to do with this. It's ignorance like yours that allow people like this. If they had a turban they would be Sikhs
That's my point exactly. You're labeled you a terrorist if you're a sikh, or just brown-skinned,but not if you blow up a health clinic.
BingleyBingleyBeep
It's a good job that Bin Laden never wore a turban then! People might have confused him with a Sikh! Muslims wear turbans too, dude.
That 'turban' you talk of is worn by Pashtun people who are not arabs but are Muslims.
In America, you're also labeled a terrorist if you have a turban, even if it has nothing to do with anything.
Fuck. Your comment was actually really well thought of. I'm really sorry for assuming. I need to stop doing that. It really doesn't help.
eh no worries mate
turbo2x
Because they're christian and white.

Note that even at his most righteously angry, all Jesus did was flip some tables.

IronRain
Just... pointing out. There was no mentions of Christians anywhere in the post :/
TheWillToWynne
A large number of pro life people get their sentiment from religious teachings or upbringing. Not all of them, but a large number
Regardless - there was no mention of Christians, and I just find it rude to assume/stereotype. Perhaps I'm being oversensitive but...
or because they aren't organized groups targeting the PP clinics, but yea, which ever works best for your agenda.
szepasszony
By this logic, the Oklahoma City bombing wasn't terrorism.
Actually lone wolf acts of terrorism like these are still considered terrorism. By law it's any violent crime politically motivated
Who isn't calling the attackers terrorists?
turtlemcnuggets
They are as Christian as ISIS is Muslim
Beartornado
There really is no reason not to respond to radical Christianity with the same extreme prejudice we have for radical Muslims.
I mean, yeah, but because that's their "classification" I suppose. Fucking Daeshbags need to stop killing people.

So Christian then.
DidItForScience
And they claim Christianity like ISIS claims Islam. And Christians are positions of power like Muslims are in Saudi Arabia/Syria/Pakistan.
darkdiamond87
Yes, cause christians totally havent ever killed people who didnt follow their beliefs at all.
And the crusade ultimately failed anyway.
TheToll
Not entierly true. Their goal was to halt muslim expansion into Europe. Which they succeeded in Iberia for instance.
If you're talking about the crusaders, that was almost exclusively the Roman Catholic church with approval from the "Holy Roman Emperor".
lordoftheT
So only all of western europe's christians then?
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
Like, sikhs wear turbans not Muslims. And this is labeled terrorism by definition.

CWMoudi
I think the comment above yours said it better than I could've.
Exactly. People WILL label you a terrorist if you're a sikh, but not if you blow up a health clinic.
Muslims on the other hand are a different story
And how are they a different story?
Estbgti
I assume it's because they are labelled as terrorists.
Sikhs aren't labeled terrorists. At least not where I'm from. We have police officers with government designed turbans.
Oh in the US they are (by regular citizens). And people who blow up health clinics are labeled as "heroes"
Nobody is labeling the planned parent shooter a hero except trolls on Twitter.
Octopugs
Anyone in America who looks Muslim or Middle Easter, or who have brown skin are believed to be terrorists. which is fucking stupid
I can only speak for the north but that shit don't fly up here.
washismycopilot
At least one Sikh was killed in the US shortly after 9-11 because people are dumb.
KyleWStacey
Dude, the head of our military has a turban. He's got a red one, a camo one...
DrWhoBatmanWarrior
Those people are no better than ISIS.
macfett
Daesh at least admits they're terrorists.
Cyranojoe
Well, I hate them, but ISIS is honestly worse. Doesn't mean they're not hateful creatures who should go to jail for their crimes, mind you.
Don't kid yourself The only thing stopping them from acting like ISIS is a more stable government that wouldn't allow that to spread
There's plenty of stable Christian governments that don't indiscriminately kill folks who disagree with them. *anymore, anyway.
I was talking more of the extremist Christians in the US who would jump at the chance to force their religion on people with a gun.
Redrumofthesheep
There is absolutely no thing as "Christian government" - because all western democratic countries are secular and separated from religion.
And the people setting fire to clinics and cherry bombing them would surely be doing far more if they knew they could get away with it.
mimikikididifefezaza
Imagine what these people could accomplish if they channeled that time and energy into helping already born children
They do. Most of the major charitable NGOs in this country have religious origins.
Yeah, if they would stop aborting babies they could spend time caring for babies.
How many kids have you adopted? Also, do you personally donate to food bank &, non profit low income medical centers?
I have two step kids, 5 children total, we donate to homeless frequently, and make other donations often. We also serve at various centers.
As do I. If you are truly pro life, you should adopt children who have no homes, that you claimed were important enough to not abort.
We plan to do so, thank you for your encouragement.
kimmykimkimkimmy
Maybe you should spend time adopting babies instead of making them. So many pro birthers out there breed like no other but don't adopt.

Yeah 140 chars is way too short to discuss issues like this. *turns and stares at imgur*
Imgur is not made for that either you know

Imgur is just a picture sharing website we made it social but it hasn't been made that way
I am aware.

Twitter is the worst tool for pretty much everything.
Twitter is for microblogging. It's pretty fine to share real-time events
iregisteredjusttoupvote
I can't believe abortion is still so controversial in a country so advanced. Theses stories sound like they come from the Middle Ages.
Pretty sure pro-lifers consider abortion to be a "barbaric Middle Age" practice, especially so for an "advanced country."
styxxx
Don't exaggerate. In the middle ages we had wars, death penalty, torture and our leaders were expected to give an oath on a religious book.
AdvancedBurrito
Due to bronze age beliefs unfortunately.
babbzilla
I'll probably get down voted for saying this but... It's because of religion. I've never met a 'pro-lifer' who wasn't a zealot.
Ive never met an atheist who wasnt a cynical asshole. I hope y'all believe me like you believe babbzilla
Ooh, I've touched a nerve with this one.
Yes I guess the point of using logical fallacies is just to demean others. You must be a kind and happy person.
I am a happy person, thank you. But I also have opinions that make people twitch like they're getting a root canal without being numbed.
tanebou
I'm going to go with, mostly yes. But more it's our culture to believe that we have every right to mind other peoples' business and 1/2

Not all religious extremists are Muslim. They can be from any demographic. The only characteristic they share is that they're bat shit crazy
I fail to see the distinction between religion and politics. People seem highly tolerant of dogmatic atrocities in the latter.
"Let's try Communism again. This time it'll work!"
PossibilitiesToCertainties
Research it a bit - the majority of domestic terrorism is not done by muslims. White supremacists/racism and eco-terrorists are the worst.
pandasmakemehappy
All walks of life have crazies. Politics, religion (including anti-religion groups) - anything people feel passionate about
diphiminaids
Nope. I can tell you that no true Scotsman would ever do such a thing.

Fanaticism exists within any religion, philisophy or political idea. People stop to question and start blindly following.

It's amazing what's okay, when you rationalize it as God saying you're right.

As a Catholic I can tell ya God would call violence like this a sin.

But your catholic leaders like to rape little boys so
Ok...As a Catholic I fervently believe there is a special place in hell for those guys, and I hope they rot in jail first as bonus.
Fair enough. Carry on.

Err, most of the biggest charitable NGOs in the U.S. have religious origins. In the top 5, it looks like only the Red Cross wasn't.

Before that they are heathen spawn bound for Satan's army.
So yes, pro-life people are also running pre- and post-natal care, orphanages, etc.
"That's not the real issue here" No, that's the part of the issue you ignore because you're too much of a coward to care about other people.
Churches are the main benefactors to living people down on their luck. And they are notoriously pro-life. What do you do to help?
TheMaskedPharmacist
It's a catchy line but you do yourself a disservice by misrepresenting the argument of the other side.

Hush. It's so easy to lump everyone that disagrees with you into one homogeneous group of d-bags. Don't spoil it.
whyteraven74
22% of children live in poverty in the US and I don't exactly see much activity among the pro-life crowd to change that.
But our poverty is wealth compared to most of the world.

It's really, really hard not to disagree when hypocrisy like this is abundant.

I don't find it misrepresented at all. The people who are typically so adamantly pro-life also tend to be against programs like welfare, >>

quality of life has nothing to do with pro-life. being alive has to do with it. I am sure most of them would be for homeless shelters >>

I went to a Catholic college that wouldn't provide birth control through the health clinic and almost everyone went to PP.
Isn't the Catholic stance that BC is immoral cuz you shouldn't be frickin unless it's to make babies?
BemusedBison
That's basically it, but more specifically that a couple having sex must be open to having a child as a result, and not exclude procreation.
Right. Like, using protection removes God's will from the equation or whatever.

Mhm, but most people think that's all a grand conspiracy. I've had people tell me they're fudging their financials and are hiding (1)
Not true. They self-publish their financials, the best people can do is attempt to reverse-engineer it: http://goo.gl/xPHiwN
In fact, they're officially opposed to transparency since it can be used to "monitor [legal] compliance": http://goo.gl/Dn8xxE
the sheer amount of abortions they perform that way. Ignoring the fact that they're independently audited almost every year and any (2)
attempts to hide such things would be caught in no time by the people who want them shut down. (3)
97% of services rendered have nothing to do with abortion. I got treated for a UTI there when I had no insurance at 18.
mutedog
97+% of the things the PP shooter did in his life wasn't shooting people in PP, does that excuse his actions?
Haha!
An absolutely untrue statistic.
If you took the time to google it, you'd see it is a true statistic
Actually there are links in this very thread which show it to be plainly false. Why don't YOU google it?
Your face is an absolutely untrue statistic.
One of the more intelligent responses, actually.
100% true statistic. Only 3% of services rendered from PP are abortion related.
AccountCreatedToUpdogVotes
And abortion related services are privately funded, not paid for by taxpayers.
Incidentally, that's not an opinion. That claim has been thoroughly debunked.

Just curious: Source?
Absofuckinglutely false. How can you even for one moment believe such a thing?

I don't support abortion either, but I am all for sex ed, birth control, WIC, and anything that will help mothers to keep them healthy. 1/2
2/2 I am also a Christian. I don't understand why we hurt others to try to make a point. PP does so much more than just abortions.
It's a mix of many things, including a bad education system.
Same here. Interestingly, the founder of PP was against abortions, and supported preventing pregnancies instead.
I don't understand why some Christians are against birth control. It just makes sense to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first plac

I think that's more a Catholic thing, or specific to certain denominations where they're not allowed to use birth control at all. 1-

Idk if anyone is "pro-abortion" lol but I am pro choice. And these acts are truly disgusting
While I support women's rights, I feel that abortion is an unethical practice. If there were a way to end a pregnancy without killing 1/2

RobertPenman
It will never be possible the whole point is to get rid of it for whatever reason
sunnygroovemother
I am pro-abortion in the same sense I am pro-knee surgery and pro-root canals. It is a needed medical procedure.
ATG2644
Eh, I don't think that's quite the same in comparison.
Pregnancy is a health condition like both of those. It has a relatively high mortality rate in the US compared to our allies. 14/100,000
Wtfareyouonaboutwhackjob
"not a necessity" ???? The fuck? You know there are cases where happily pregnant women who want to have the baby HAVE to get an 1/2
yesvsno
It is most often not a necessity. Less than one percent of cases are "get an abortion or die." http://www.abortionfacts.com/facts/8
abortion, right? Or else they would fucking die due to complications? I'd call "get an abortion or die" a fucking necessity you loon. 2/2
YankeeBomb4
I agree with abortion when it's due to complications. I'm talking about woman who choose to have an abortion due to just not wanting a baby.
They definitely can be necessary. Good friend of mine had a stroke during her last pregnancy and absolutely cannot carry another to term.
Less than 1% of woman have abortions for medical reasons http://www.abortionfacts.com/facts/8
I completely agree that that they can be and I support those, but do you have any idea how rare that is? Less than 1%.

B/c by opposing PP, they also oppose women's/mothers' health. ie "you must give birth but don't spend *my* tax dollars helping the kid"
RowdyTavern
I would love to know how many "pro-lifers" have adopted children or foster children or do any volunteer/donations to help kids.
Every church I've been to advertises charitable assistance for families and mothers, pre- and post-natal. It's part of the social structure.
when i was in foster care, my foster parents were pro-life and christian. they support me using birth control and they're fostering a girl.
Glad to hear it! I'd like to think that the majority of them do this too :)
Adrt2326
A lot of us.
CuntyBastard
Really? In my area the church is one of the biggest contributors to disadvantaged families. Want to back your statement up with facts, or?
People are people outside of "the church". Sin every day but Sunday and do evil hateful crap in the name of religion. Facts: Those same 1/?
people are usually conservatives who want to cut social services for those children. Cutting those services puts those very children in 2/?
the position where they need that charity from "the church" members so they can feel good about themselves for helping some local needy. 3/?
Those same people also want to cut ed funding because it isn't supportive enough of their magic sky daddy fantasies causing generational 4/5
I'm also willing to bet the absolute staggering majority of church goers aren't shooting up clinics, of any kind.
Probably not but I'd be willing to bet that 95% of those protesters are church goers.
AlecBaIdwin
My wife didnt kill me so that means no wives have ever killed their husbands, thats the same argument you're making, with a different x & y
No, I'm saying it's a minuscule problem, I'm not denying it exists.
Representational bias. You can't speak for all churches. In the average area the government pays more in food stamps than the church.
(1) Religious NGOs are a huge fraction of charitable work in this country and in the world.
(2) Comparing charitable work/donations to monetary payments that come out of backed-by-force govt-mandated taxes is a bit insulting, no?
I don't doubt you are doing something but every stained glass window is a month of food for a family of four.
Solid logic, lets apply it to everyone. ''Don't buy a car or an Xbox, give your money to the poor''
That logic is what the bible says. If they want to practice selective hypocrisy I'd prefer the focus on the living.
Those stained glass windows are typically donated, not taken from charitable accounts. They often have a dedication at the bottom.
I'm not, I said in my area, and asked them to back up their statement instead of making sweeping generalizations about masses of people
I believe he was talking about the group of people terrorizing the clinics from the tweets above
TibbleSniggits
It's a sad day when merely asking for verification is met with resistance. I don't care what someone believes, sources should be provided
Also, in the average area the Church contributes to disadvantaged people. Little or big, they help. I'm an atheist, but this is fact.
Atheist non-profits and secular charities help too. Churches are given an unfair advantage though by the gov, & proselytize
Yea. But it's the how. Is it done anonymously? What are the stipulations? I could have gone to college for free if I became a Mormon.
No stipulations. In fact, the Little Sisters of the Poor case is going before SCOTUS because LSP *refuses* to discriminate. (1/2)
If they did only serve Catholics, they'd be reclassified and not be in legal trouble. Irony. (2/2)

So here's my take (and I'm in the middle). Imagine that there was a law about to be passed that said that children aren't legally humans x/2
until they're 1 year old. Now imagine there were doctors that were performing operations on these non-humans that killed them. You would be
justifiably horrified and potentially feel fully justified in killing the doctor to prevent the deaths they were inflicting on children that
you (and I obviously) consider human. In fact, it would probably become your single biggest driving consideration come election time. To get
people into positions of power that could reverse this tragedy. Thats how many pro-life people see the issue. They literally see murder here

No, fuck you and your strawman bullshit. You give no credence to pro-choice be completely ignoring what "pro-life" people believe.
RenegadeRed
Then tell us "wise one" what pro-life believes
They believe that fetuses are already living humans on at least some level and that abortion is /literally/ murder.
But they don't have cognitive thought aswell as a working cardiovascular system
what
That person is building up pro-lifers as something they aren't, as having weaker or worse motivations than they actually do, just in 1/?
order to make them look even worse than they are. Being pro-life is about what they believe to be murder, not about some hidden hate 2/?
You have said it well my friend.....
MadamPuddifoot
For some, it's less about controlling women and more about not killing babies (paraphrasing things I've heard people say).
pieceofpizza
foetus does not equal baby
Accomplished by forcing slavery on women, so I would argue against that.
D3adT0m
Which is still a bullshit argument unless these people are also actively fighting against world poverty, starvation, and sickness.
LearnedCoward
Many of them are.
Yes, but those people are off somewhere actually doing good, rather than trying to fight something that's a symptom of a bigger problem.
goulet
kill the murdering whores!!!

Yea I guess I should've watched the news yesterday before making that comment jokingly. I accept the downvotes.
DandyTheFuckingDandelion
Because nothing says you value human life like shooting up an abortion clinic!
thedewsta
If i thought someone was killing babies i would feel the desire to stop them
Made me laugh out loud hahaha
I'm very Pro-Choice but if I believed that abortionists were killing children, I'm not sure I could be as restrained as most pro lifers are.
dartron5000
it's not even an abortion clinic, which makes it way worse.
lucidMonkeez
They see the workers as killers of many. Then it's a math problem. A very violent math problem.
XenuWorldOrder
I'm pro-choice, but I don't understand why people don't get this. It's a stupid question.
TinyLiehon
Who ever killed Batman's parents (and created the Batman) has saved all the lives of those saved by Batman minus 2.
AlwaysTrustTheManInABigWhiteVan
Dude, Chill
TheMagicGoat
Incorrect. Since he couldn't possibly have foreseen the consequences of his actions, the Wayne killer can't be credited for the lives saved/
any more than the Joker, Two Face or so on could be for putting them in the position where they needed to be saved./
This would be the same logic as crediting Hitler for the Theory of Relativity, if you'll excuse the breach of Godwin's Law.
For those that didn't get my reference: http://www.smbc-comics.com/comics/20120528.gif
Subtilico
That is as saying that whoever raped a child for years, and that child later becomes a famous author, brought more happiness than pain.
I already explained the reference in this nested bunch of comments
Then again, Batman could have prevented hundreds of deaths by killing the Joker rather than allowing him to constantly escape...
Lucy stole 18 apples and shot the shopkeeper. Lucy ate half an apple for every police she killed while making her escape. (1/?)
She killed 3 policemen and one K9. Jake bashed Lucy's head in for eating some of the apples she was supposed to bring him. (2/?)
Police gunned Jake down in an alley and fucked the bulletholes with their batons. The remaining apples were evenly planted on (3/?)
the graves of the people who died at this chain of events. All the apples contained 5 seeds each. 3 out of ten seeds grew into trees. (4/5)

This is why ethics>morals
tryin2figureitout
Yeah, that really depends on how you define those words.
CosmicRadiance
ethics = a set of moral principles
ShiroeTheStrategist
Ethics is the principles set out by society, morals are the principles each individual believes in.
10sky
❸ because so many people couldn't be wrong.
❶ While this is correct, I'd just like to point out, using, salem witch hunts, the holocaust, and segregation as examples of why it's
❷ dangerous to have the mindset from @FloodingWaters's comment, that whatever is common practice in society must be right,
The inconsistency is that people claiming to believe it's killing don't take violent action. Very odd state of mind.
Not really - would you be willing to kill someone murdering thousands of children a year? That's what pro-lifers feel is happening here.
thedonvito17
Idk, is it a pro-lifers legal right or responsibility to murder someone?
wo1fie
Pro Choice > Pro Life. I draw the line when the brain develops and begins functioning. Before that it's a bundle of cells.
We have too many humans for the planet anyway. We are killing ourselves no matter how you look at it.
cardiokillsgains
Yah I'm pro life by far but there's a better way to go about this then murder and terrorism. I think its murder but they are 1/2
making themselves just as guilty as the people they are trying to stop
DuckMom
I don't know why people have such a hard time understanding this. There is a system of logic behind most of what they do, and you can (1/2)
acknowledge it without agreeing with it. (2/2)
As a Pro-Choice person, if people are murdering children, several a day every day, I could see people willing to kill to stop it.
renihharas
That doesn't make it okay though
CaptainCIaw
How can it be a murder when its not a person yet, just a few cells? When I get a haircut, did I commit a genocide?
No, you removed dead cells that contained your own DNA.
Okay, so I drink a lot of alcohol which will kill some brain and liver cells. What now?
That is your body and completely your choice. A fetus has its own unique set of HUMAN DNA
AnshulSanam
Implying they actually murder. Is it really murder to remove a bundle of cells.
Ending a life with its own unique DNA but hey we can over simplify anything. Is it really murder to just put poison in a cup?
So you would be also against killing insects or microogranisms?
What kind of logic is that? That bundle of cells is HUMAN DNA.
MoistTowlettes
I AM pro-life, but abortion is such a small portion of PP that I still support them. Most clinics (like this one) don't even provide it.
Based on the stats of who they serve, for what, and how small they actually are, I've found the "necessary for public health" argument weak.
lostnortherner
I'm pro-life too, but I still think it's the woman who needs to decide what to do with her own body, regardless of what I think about it.
Highly recommend this article: http://douthat.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/08/05/there-is-no-pro-life-case-for-planned-parenthood/?_r=2
kulfilover
What I don't understand is why does anyone (pro-life or otherwise) have to try and enforce their beliefs onto the others.
If anyone believes a terrible wrong is being committed, do they ever sit quietly? Would we want to live around people who did?
While I completely disagree, it's their belief that their views are ethically correct thus they want everyone to follow their ethics
It honestly makes me sick how the right media has convinced so many people that planned parenthood is state funded abortion clinics.
I'm glad you're sensible, but I still can't support someone who believes forced birth is ethical.
And "pro-lifers" can't support someone they believe supports murder. You won't understand them unless you seriously consider their views.
Otherwise, it's inconsistent and doesn't follow through. No ethics worth his salt is pro-life because of that reason. It's un-provable.
I have seriously considered tier views. I wrote several papers. The problem is they all crumble once you really look at them.
The only way for pro-life to make sense is to be pro-life in all cases. Rape, incest, pedophilia, the whole nine yards.
Are they not pro-life in all cases? I don't know many pro-lifers and i cannot speak for them.
And 'pro-lifers' won't understand pro-choice until they take an ethics class.
Maybe they have and it reinforced their beliefs.
Hitchens was an atheist, anti-religious, but he also understood biology. He was pro-life. Will an ethics class affect the biology?
And I respect your opinion. You see, not all republicans are stupid assholes.
I still think you're an asshole. Your opinion is callous and has caused much suffering in the world.
Nothing personal, though.
HitlersArtCritic
Kids cost a lot and can get you arrested. They'll make you poor if you can't afford them.
So... why isn't infanticide legal in that case?
Exactly.
Costs are kids>abortion>condoms. If a condom fails, an abortion works too. It actually contributes to science and medical research.
mikeatike
That is a fantastic question. Also why are the same people that are "pro-life" so often against any form of welfare or govt healthcare?
Butane9000
Because government assistance can breed dependency and abuse. It used to be looked down upon to accept such hand outs as failing at life.
So cut off all welfare to everyone just because some people abused it?
And always so eager to bomb other countries "back to the Stone Age" regardless of how many civilians get caught in the crossfire.
DougForcett
They aren't pro life. They're pro birth. It's allows them to sleep well at night because they feel compassionate.
that's the point of religion. FEEL like you are some kind of saint while simultaneously being an asshole
USRaider
Because their "Pro-Life" is actually "Pro-God" and they behave similarly to Medieval Nobles: Badly, but for God.
Corin
Hi, I'm a Taoist and I'm pro-life. Nice to meet you.
So?
I don't have a god telling me anything.
JR2000

Usually, yes.

Well, there's no source for that. It's just my observation.
ShadeFawks
Because as we know the great heyzues said that people should never help anyone else because they should get a job or something.
Pro-Birth is the way you make the most money: on a large, uneducated, depressed populace living paycheck to paycheck.
rshini
They also tend to be pro-death penality
zgraphikerin
Pro-life =/= Pro-quality life
deadandbloated
R-selection vs K-selection. I know it's an outdated model, but it explains so much.
And by forcing stuff like waiting periods, they make riskier surgical abortions necessary rather than the quick and easy medical ones.
Girlie1337
I personally don't see how the two are related. Most pro-lifers believe it's a child, so asking for permission to kill it is outrageous.
abetteridiot
It's related b/c actually being pro-life would mean after the birth they focus on also caring about the resulting life/child. They don't.
I'm pro-life, a counselor in a school, and I work closely with Social Services to make sure they're all healthy and safe. I'm not (1/2)
anti-helping people, but believe the welfare system needs to be revamped. It's easy to take advantage of it. You can't group us all together

beearewhyayyenn
Nothing about those in "the good book", therefore they dont exist
If you read the bible, God is very pro-abortion. The great flood, for instance. A special drink for Jews that would abort adulterous babies.

YES THIS
GundalfTheGay
Same goes for gun control
Cause they don't trust the government to be able to competently run such things.

It's true, it's a lot cheaper to kill a child no one wants than care for an adult no one wants.
QuantumSupersexposition

It's not a money issue, it's a trust issue.
We mostly don't trust our government with money, power, or control.
BadBoys2isUnderrated
Because they disagree with the government's use of force. Stealing for charity is different than voluntary charity. Cons. do more of that.
would love to see some statistics on this. I don't consider giving to a church as charitable as giving to the red cross.
sowetoninja
Can you tell me why when an (actual) terrorist kills people in the name of Islam, everyone is real quick to point out that they're not "true"
>Muslims, or when a feminists threatens people with death "not true feminism", but when these crazy people start threatening PP, it's not>
> questioned at all whether they are pro-lifers but people go on and make even more ridiculous generalizations instead?
This is a very good question. I, and a lot of other people, don't subscribe tot he "no true scotsman".
iamleejn
Let me start off by stating my opinion on abortion in no uncertain terms: I think it should be safe, legal, and rare. 1/?
Modern contraception is very effective when used properly, cheap, and (should be) abundant. It's simply more sensible to avoid pregnancy 2/?
From what I can see, it's a matter of efficient returns on an "investment". 9 months vs ~18 years is a huge financial difference. 3/?
Pro-lifers want to feel like they've saved lives: for the greater good. However, resources (money) are limited. To get the best return 4/?
The same people that are against abortion are usually against sex education and contraceptives for teenagers. Yeah, it don't make sense.
Arcanite
Probably cuz they didn't attend a good school so they don't know anything
Well a lot of the ones in control have gone to prestigious institutions. I think some believe they did it all on their own without any help.
Well they are against funding education too...
I'm pro-life, for universal healthcare, and against the death penalty. Fight me.
This. ^
DoctorWhoandDallasCowboys
Me too! I'm very much in the middle of conservative and liberal. Pro-life, pro-marriage equality, pro-gun rights, for social health care....
NecroNikolai13
Being pro-life: You're doing it right.
TheJazzGhost
Ok, I'll bite. Are you against all forms of abortion, even in cases of rape or where birth threatens the life of the mother?
With rape, I think it's still a shame that they won't get a chance to live. However, if the mother's life is at serious risk, it's her call.
TropicLightning
Whoo hoo, another pro-life liberal...there are others out there!
Hunterdvincent
So you guys like to shoot people huh?

If you start with a libertarian philosophy it seems perfectly reasonable that all of these positions would pretty naturally follow
AmSaiCo
Sounds like someone doesn't know what a libertarian actually is...
prototype01
Agreed. Not all libertarians are pro-life. I am pro-choice and I believe that our freedoms shouldn't be impeded. Even with that hard choice.
I will only point out that I said nothing remotely like "all libertarians are pro-life"
Also, I really hate tiny message sizes cause I got lots to say about this... but I'll stop here.
How does that fit with pro-life?
Libertarian foundation + life begins at conception would get you that blend of positions
So the christian right wing. Sounds like a blend of tea party and libertarianism.
Most libertarians I know are pro-choice.
I would hypothesize that your observation is more a matter of social selection than a statistically useful sampling of libertarians :)
Scrawlsey
Not murder for pro-life. Libertarian would abhor the taking of the ultimate freedom that a person has, life.
Agree completely - meant as a reason to advocate in defense of the unborn child.
But they would mean taking the liberty away from an adult. Which is why most libertarians I know are pro-choice.
Adults have the liberty to not have sex or use protection/birth control.
TrashRemastered
Because they are Pro-Birth, not Pro-Life. "WE WANT YOU TO GIVE BIRTH. But after that we don't give a shit about your baby."
GetLitNKnit
Or they don't think that it's the government's to be involved in that. Most churches are involved with pregnancy refuges and other programs.
lizzieskwrl
Yet the government would be involved in the woman's healthcare, the babies healthcare, the delivery, the aftercare, etc etc. Faulty logic.

The same argument was used to oppose abolition. "If the slaves are free, are YOU going to take care of them? No? Then leave them as slaves."
TattooedWife
This is literally my argument against "pro-lifers" every time.
CoconutLogic
This.
Iamsonewatthis
They only care about the baby when it turns 18 so it can join the military and vote.

So much yes to this.
beggingyourmajestyspardon
These are the same "Christians" who don't give a shit or do anything about current homeless or orphaned children already alive
I call them anti-abortionists
haiyaiforces
That is some terrible shit. Stuff like this makes me realize why trying to live alone feels right.
Forced-birthers want to punish women for daring to have sex without the sole purpose of makin' babies. That's all it comes down to.

The statement was that they don't care about "your baby." They don't care about "you," either. I wasn't correcting so much as adding.
Zokalwe
Yeah, don't make them the favor to call them pro-life. Call them anti-choice.
You people seriously don't see how biased you are about this topic? It's like people calling you "pro-death/pro-murder", fucking ridiculous.
Calling it pro-death instead of pro-choice would be factually wrong though, while anti-choice instead of pro-life is not. If anything, 1/2

That's some pretty sweet marketing they've got going there isn't it? If you aren't "pro-life" you're obviously "pro-death".
Why not anti-life? I hear there's even an equation for it.
SometimesISayHistoryStuff
Both sides are kind of guilty of that charge. Really it's a discussion of the legality and morality of terminating unwanted fetuses.
He didn't say it was pro-death
Can't speak for everyone, but is this the same government that still consistently fucks up VA healthcare? And you want MORE of that?
Sasqualogist
Hm, counterpoint: or you can die from an easily treatable illness.
AdventureousYetiMan
Yeah I was about to mention this. You can get super reduced cost healthcare, but wait months. Or pay a higher fee and get seen right away
... the problem is that when the government is involved, the taxpayer pays premium rates, and you get super reduced cost service.
In the U.S. yes, but when the gvt uses their size as a bargaining chip to reduce rates and improve care everyone wins but greedy companies
Isuckatbeingagirl
I'd rather have slow and unorganized care than no care
At least you'll die full of hope that you'll get treated someday.
I havent had a solid shit since August. they'll see me in January, assuming it doesn't try to kill me first. Ever had diarrhea for 6 months?
Forgive me for thinking that maybe someone who has a sick kid deserves better response time than that. And thanks for the downvotes.
When have Christians ever cared about hypocrisy? The bible preaches forgiveness and love, somehow translates to hate gays and women
bigguywhokills
You just typecasted all Christians. That makes you a bigot.
PurplePixieUK
Yeah watch the generalisations here. It's not all Christians, it's assholes. That thinking is why the world is so fucked up.
myr14d
*bad Christians.
FloridaMansSideKick
If that type of Christians are bad Christians, then most Christians I've met were bad Christians.
When did this become about Christians?....
Baxcon
Remember when god killed a million Ethiopians? Yeah a lot of hypocrisy..
Funniest thing is that abortion was practiced a lot in biblical times! The reason the bible doesn't mention is it because IT'S OK WITH IT.
Markuspsyches
But it does mention it in numbers 5, with a priest testing an unfaithful wife that appears to cause a miscarriage.
fnfthisfnshit
Not to mention greed and xenophobia
As stated by wise men before me " I like your Christ, just not your Christians"
Gandhi. Of India. The adopted home of Mother Teresa. Where she started an army of women who care for the poorest of the poor to this day.
WARHAMMER405
God wants spiritual fruits. Not religious nuts.
The full quote is "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
thefatlonelyjew
the Bible doesn't say nice things about gays or women
Name a religious text that does!
chocbuttons
The bible says whatever anybody wants it to say to prove their points.
It barely mentions either.. one passage in Leviticus and two female characters. Mostly it says "don't be greedy" and "love thy neighbour"
Reminds me of the key and peele skit where god told a group of people "donate your belongings and spend your life helping others"
Eh, Paul calls homosexuality an abomination a couple of times, and a lot of Christians believe his word has authority
He also says to never drink, so if you have ever had a drink then you're a hypocrite
The group ended up pretending they thought it was a ghost and ran away instead of proving they're "loyal" to him.
Because most pro-lifers are morons...
NeoAcario
They may be morons... but it's more that they aren't consistent in their message.
You are helping nobody with these bullshit inflammatory mass generalizations.
How about just worry about if you want to keep your baby and let others make up their own mind.
Can't believe this comment is at -3 points. Sorry bro. I'll do my part.
People want to tell others what they can and can't do like they know better. Just live your life and let others live theirs. Simple stuff.
bit of a broad brush, there
bushidopirate
you realize that pro-life people think we're morons too right? That kind of reasoning helps no one.
PersonalityFire
One view is rooted in bodily autonomy, the other is rooted in projecting your idiotic view onto others and isn't worth hearing out.
Cause that's how you win people over: by ignoring them and telling them they're stupid.
There is no gray area here. Either you believe in a woman's ability to make legal health decisions for herself, or you are wrong.
I love how a clearly ad-hominem attack is upvoted. Imgur ftw.
That and they believe so highly in their 'morals' that they think the entire human race should be indoctrinated into obeying them.
have you ever heard of democracy? that's how it works. you are "indoctrinated into obeying" the rules of the many.
The democracy said "pro-choice" so pro-lifers should really just accept that
there is a difference between acceptance and following the law. "pro-lifers" have to follow the law but it is important to voice opinion.
Lol, and you don't? Can you actually tell me you don't want everyone to believe what you believe? Else why would you even be here arguing?
I believe in the right for a woman to choose. Which is the right thing to believe. Nobody can accurately judge another's circumstances.
"the right thing to believe" is inflammatory. and the entire judicial system is based on judging other people's circumstances.
Deathcta
1/2 I'm going to get dv to oblivion. But I would say ALL "pro-lifers" are morons. Via the facts, there is no reason to be against abortion.
A- We are vastly over populated B- Unless an emergency, abortions are performed early term before developed C- An unwanted child= miserable
"Vastly overpopulated"? Even the UN believes the world population is stabilizing. Many countries are paying people to reproduce.
Fierfly
There are a few very valid reasons to be against abortion. I'm pro-choice mainly for the fact that abortion is necessary sometimes.
There is no reason to be against it, its not your body and you have no say. Who gives a fuck what you have to say when its not your baby.
Well why should a mother be allowed to abort then? The child's body is not hers and she should have no say. Your logic is bad.
do you think that abortions should be permitted up until the time the baby is born?
...because kids are the worst thing ever...
Well I think risking a woman's life with a complicated childbirth is wholly unnecessary and medically irresponsible.
MaxPatlick
after spending 18 years being one of the worst things ever, kids evolve into something even worse.. adults.
IMaedThisForYou
She made a good point. I have not once used Planned Parenthood to actually have an abortion. I got STD testing and was prescribed bcontrol.

PleasantlySurprised
In 2001, an anti-abortion douche killed a clinic security guard. The asshat wanted to kill everyone inside and burn the clinic in Melb 2/2

France, no one publicly protest about that , and you can have one in a public hospital.

I wish they would only be allowed to protest on a busy highway. I'm sure they'd stop protesting if they are too busy dodging cars all day.
adrastea72
I'm really REALLY pro choice!! BUT I'm also really for my right to protest peacefully. PP needs protection w/out restricting our voices.
adrastea72
To clarify: I'd NEVER protest a PP! I want to make it rich just to donate money to the org. I just dont want to infringe on our other rights
sasha01198
they haven't restricted their opinions they just made them move over, making sure they don't harass women and get in their face. that's it.
adrastea72
Yes, I agree. And I'll go further and say theyre a bunch of jerks. I used to work in a grocery store, with those solicitors outside 1/?
adrastea72

AndSoAdInfinitum
Protesting at government buildings targets the ministers, who make decisions. Protesting at a clinic targets the clients, with fear as its aim

It's the "peacefully" part that a lot of them fail. Screaming epithets, holding up signs of dead bodies, etc, isn't "peaceful".

I live in Queensland where sadly it still illegal unless recommended by a doctor. It is a backwards state still, unfortunately.

SkittlesTheCat
That's terrible :-(
melatriama
Dumb american here: I know you guys have national healthcare, so can you just go to a different state to obtain an abortion if they're 1/
SkittlesTheCat
Queensland is a rather large state, some people may be 1200+miles from another state. You are right however, they could travel for it
melatriama
illegal in your state? Will your healthcare cover it, or does it even cover it in the first place?
chookennoodlepoop
Most of our states allow abortion with a Drs request. Depending on type of abortion & gestation, from $40 - $800, with a small rebate.
Turtlepoos
There is no medicare rebate here as far as i know, its an out of pocket procedure
EnderChekholv
What about protests against malpractice?
basicwhitelich
Protests against malpractice are called lawsuits sweety
EnderChekholv
Come on now, many people have been ripped off or unfairly compensated through lawsuits...I am one. I am not ignorant on this topic at all.
Nessimon
In most civilised countries you have a formal complaint process. You don't need to stand outside anywhere, yelling, to be heard.
EnderChekholv
Peaceful protests? Do governments of "civilized countries" actually listen and take action in support of complaints? Genuinely curious.
Nessimon
Yeah, after all, we control the government, not the other way around!
WScarlet
... Keep telling yourself that. Follow the money, and you'll find who's in charge.

I was at PP for a pregnancy test back in Feb & when I left I passed a small group of protestors & one of them gave me a rose. I was confused

I've never needed PP personally, but I donate a chunk to them every year because this matters. We can't let the terrorists win.
ifyourgirlonlyknew
When I was 16, I had an abortion by Dr. Tiller. It made me turn my life around, in a good way. I cried when he was killed.

LoveAtFirstAwkwardMoment
Why dude why? Go troll somewhere else
EhhhWhatsUpDoc
Just because you don't like what you read doesn't mean it's trolling
LoveAtFirstAwkwardMoment
But this was just rude and hateful.
EhhhWhatsUpDoc
Pointing out that her parents didn't do to their child what she did to hers is rude and hateful?
Reidsb
Thank you for sharing this.
AlabamaSlammer
I had one when I was 15, picketers were outside, those assholes made me change my outlook on others. I'm 21, happy, and in college now.
ifyourgirlonlyknew
Just so everyone understands, I was pro-life until this happened, and now I hate the idea that it's categorized as pro-life or pro-choice.
ifyourgirlonlyknew
Also thanks for all the words of support. It drowns out the negative ones :-)
teloft
remeber him and selebrate his life at his clinic every year for me if you can.
datbaish
Tiller was a super nice man, my dad use to body guard for his wife when she went grocery shopping. He trained their dog Axel too :)
SaucyDisses
I... I don't know how to respond to this but give you my condolences.
hadoeken
If there was a person who achieved true martyrdom for their cause in modern society, it's definitely Dr. Tiller.
1725976903
Your parents lives couldve been turned around if they made the same decision you did.I guess they LET YOU LIVE.I wish the baby has- oh wait.
8scout8
Just a quick note: often times, those who get abortions tend to turn their lives around, especially in the area of sex. More protection, etc
SlothStormborn
My friends got an abortion when she was a full grown adult because she didn't want a family YET.
NotHotSwedishGirl
Awesome, she sounds like a really responsible person. Having a baby should always be on your own terms :)
ifyourgirlonlyknew
It changed my sex life but it mostly made me a better person. I entered the field of social work because of it.
8scout8
I'm glad you had a positive change through this experience. Many people don't recognize that tends to happen after events like this :)
beyondthetacostand
Changed my life in a positive way. Knew a child wasn't in my wheelhouse Ave still isn't. No regrets. Would go back and do the same thing
adrastea72
2. The easier method is if you are deliberately withholding these methods from people or not giving it to them as an option.
buttermyarse
I've had this discussion before. Ita just not logical when you compare how easy it is to take contraception. The only time it would become
AmericasHighFive
Very brave for sharing. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
ifyourgirlonlyknew
Thanks for the compassion :-)
iuploadbearpics
Which loss, the murdering doctor or the kid she killed? Sadly, she mourns the doctor who killed her child, but not the actual child. SMH
[deleted]
[deleted]
iuploadbearpics
It's ironic, isn't it?
BreadyStinellis
You don't know she doesn't mourn that child.
shesaidgoodbyetotheground
You don't know that. Abortion is not any easy choice, I'm sure she still thinks about it enough without dicks on the internet shaming her.
ticklishpear
Fuck off
WyoRiders
O wish I could upvote this more
iuploadbearpics
Yep, truth always stings.
krahsaval
This is why you need security guards such as myself, but that costs money and places like this have little to spare.
cyclone2411
What I don't understand is that a large majority of those hostile "pro-lifers" don't care about the baby anymore once it's born.
vanella
Pro-lifers killing people, what an oxymoron....
emordnilapasti
I don't mean to be that guy, but that's irony, not an onxymoron :P Have an upvote nonetheless.
omarsadiki
Too late: you're that guy. But that's kind of awesome.
DVSBSTrD
Conservative logic: Life begins at conception and ends when you become a Syrian refugee.
vanella
Compassion is only for coffee cups
fuckingprefect
Bill Hicks had something to say about this. It hasn't changed in 20+ years.
Deltrillion
So, cut off their oxygen supply and you're left with a dead moron?
Deltrillion
I should point out I'm in no way advocating murder, murder is bad. Word play on the other hand is fun.
TheCrustyMustard
I compare pro-lifers to collectors. They only care about the product while it's still in the wrapper.
PuppyKicker
Talk about a literary divide. For sure
greenroom628
not defending it, but they see themselves as "protecting life that can't protect itself." after birth though, fuck it, you're on your own.
MerToo
I presume they execute any woman that has a miscarriage?
emi8ly
I refer to them as pro-birthers not pro-lifers
AuntSharron
That's all they are. They couldn't be bothered to give half a shit about anyone once they pass through the vagina.
philcollinsdrumbreakdown
Or anyone WITH a vagina
vanella
...but a leech is not life, it cannot live on its own outside the body (just stating a fact)
stevetehpirate
"protecting fetuses that can't protect themselves" once it's a baby, the parents better be able to pay for that food/medical expenses!
snarflex
The same argument was used during abolition. "If we free the slaves, are YOU going to take care of them? No? Then leave them be."
chastidy
Giving the death sentence to a murderer. Makes sense to me as long as they see abortion as murder
LoveAtFirstAwkwardMoment
It's subjective
chastidy
That abortion is murder? Agreed.
LoveAtFirstAwkwardMoment
So we are agreeing that it's opinion-based whether it's murder or not?
chastidy
It appears that way.
DoctorWatchamacallit
no, that's irony. Billy Mays is an oxymoron
ShutUpImWorking
oxy left them a few terrorism acts ago...
rhoadsalive
It's already insane that they call being anti-abortion and anti-freedom that way.
NaivePulp
That would technically be irony and not an oxymoron, but still, point received.
ruddit
Great album
clayboy
It is horrible wot this prolifenazis do but still tough i cant ignore: there is something wrong about the "her body her rules" to abortion
twozerooz
Wut
SisterSinister
Tell us what you believe is wrong with it.
lurklurkingmclurk
My question is why the media doesn't cover this incidents as Christian Terrorist or Christian extremist.
MongoBro
Yeah like they arent covering the recent PP shooter at all.../s. It helps if you watch the news to begin with. And Imgur doesnt count.
electricmind
Well of course because terrorism only comes in form of muslims doing terroristic acts. Sad world.
InconsistentlyPersistent
So all pro-lifers are Christian? Interesting....
[deleted]
[deleted]
GuardsmanMiku
you know the answer to that as much as i do
chastidy
Giving the death sentence to a murderer. Makes sense to me as long as they see abortion as murder
Custardmug
I think most disagree with the death penalty to begin with
chastidy
You wouldn't want to shoot a mass murderer that you knew wouldn't be jailed for his actions?
Custardmug
That's a different argument. I'm talking about capital punishment itself.
chastidy
Well it's a pretty closely related argument haha. And Kansas currently does have the death penalty as far as I know.
Pandanym
I feel like people got the wrong message in your comment. Here, have an upvote.
chastidy
Haha looks like it. I am not saying they are murderers, just trying to introduce some empathy.
Prottt
Im just wondering but if im a guy can I go into a PP for an STD test?
121AAD
is it free? what if I just want a prostate massage?
Cilvaa
Tell the pro-life protesters outside that you're there for an abortion and see what they do!
betarho
YES
Vandercookie
Absolutely!
MongoBro
Can my sister get a mammogram?
Smashlekins
Yes. They do breast exams.
dayumdayumdayum
For a lot of people, men and women, PP is their only primary care. They do amazing stuff there for anybody.
adrastea72
And men can use birth control and STD protection as well. They give men plenty of condoms if requested.
veronicamarsdestroyerofworlds
They will provide excellent medical care and a 100% judgement-free treatment. PP is the best.
Electriccarsbestcars
of course you can! It's planned parenthood for everyone.
AncientSeraph
STDs aren't strictly related to parenthood (I wouldn't have guessed from their name that it'd be possible).
WScarlet
Yes. PP offers medical care, knowledge and supplies to anyone regardless of gender, sexuality, color or creed.
SwarthyPirateLove
+1 upvote for awareness
GuardLLama
I have! And when I was super broke and young. PP came through for me.
TheManWithAPlan
great question... time to get my PP tested
popejubal
IfYouAreLookingForTheLochnessMonster
Lol. Pp.
DObee99999
Hah! You said pp
Prottt
thank you
pmmeurcats
definitely! any gender can go there! they treat UTIs and cancer too!
ImSorryFriend
Gender is the wrong word when you're talking about sex organ differentiation... yes any gender, but more importantly, either/any sex.
Prottt
Thank you!
LightningMcQueensStuntDouble
You go yet?
internetheroxD
Cancer? They do?
fibonacciismyhomedog
They can perform out patient procedures for precancerous cells as well as screening
Dragonbug300
I think they screen for cancer and help people find resources to treat it for minimal cost. I don't think they can treat it themselves.
internetheroxD
Interesting, thanks mate!
DIRIG0
Most importantly it's usually inexpensive and confidential
DIRIG0
For what it's worth I'm a male who is trying to encourage others to be proactive about their sexual health :)
AncientSeraph
Only usually confidential. Other times they post your face on FB, along with a picture of the horrible rash you had.
DIRIG0
I'm both upset and curious about this story... Tell me more!
popejubal
Cool. We're making up more fake stories about Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood stole my bike.
AncientSeraph
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law
AncientSeraph
Woah, it was a joke on his unfortunate placement of 'usually'. I thought I was exaggerating enough to make that obvious. Sheesh.
caboops
Great I'm glad 16 year Olds can have abortions without ever letting their parents know! Amazing!
HarmlessDickbutt
When that's life or death for you you'll be glad it's there.
caboops
That can never happen.
HarmlessDickbutt
When you're in an abusive situation it absolutely can feel like life or death
popejubal
When the 16 year old's dad raped her, I'm very glad the parents don't have to know. Confidential medical care is important.
caboops
So your one hypothetical situation supercedes everything? A rapist dad would be put in prison, and would not have parental rights anyway.
popejubal
A rapist dad usually won't be put in prison and even rapists have parental rights in most states. And that means rights over the baby 1/2
popejubal
Side note - most people don't need legal protections most of the time. ALL of our legal protections are there because we can't predict 1/2
popejubal
that came from the incestual rape.
ObligatoryFate
Yeah, they harass people that get up every day to kill babies. What is wrong with these people?
illogicalphallusies
Fetus*...until you are capable of tak8ng your own breath on your own unassisted you are not a baby.
Jawsmine
Agreed. A week or two in, you're smaller than a freckle. Like getting a mole removed.
IWouldDoThings
It's un-American and un-Christian to harass and assault those people because you don't agree with them. It's bullying. Nothing more.
AllLeoAllTheTime
One of my best friends was staunchly pro-life, until she scheduled her abortion. Super convenient.
CheweyHeathen
Same with my friend. She apparently didn't want to use condoms or have a half black baby. Very moral, huh?
Cheomesh
Few plans survive contact with the enemy
ObligatoryFate
How very sad.
hypostatic
Like, how is this NOT treated as terrorism by the law??? What do they need to do for that, wear a turban?!
PewPin
It in fact is treated as terrorism by the law. And law enforcement takes cases like this seriously. But its hard to find perpetrators.
TooLazyToDoSomethingElse
I would say the picketers are preaching hate speech and sometimes practicing terrorism.
AncientSeraph
Picketing itself isn't terrorism. It's aim might be similar, but the means are very much different (i.e. non-violent/criminal).
TooLazyToDoSomethingElse
No but it could be perceived as hate speech, and their shooting, bombing, breaking private property could be perceived as terrorism.
AncientSeraph
If they commit crimes as well, it should be considered terrorism, obviously. Hate speech is a thin line I don't want to bother myself with.
yaweed
Cheomesh
7-11 was a part time job
Rtaxx
its been going on since LONG before 9/11, which is the date when religious fanaticism became terrorism... back then they were just nutjobs
DVSBSTrD
Because it's only terrorism when *non*white people do it.
Cheomesh
Except for the whole Oklahoma City thing.
NationalistCanadianMooseWarrior
Yes.
ballsohard2202
ChrisGen
Amen
IOnceOwnedMoonMoonButOnceHeTriedToLickMyBallsAndRanAwayIMissHim
It appears your country treats it as terrorism only if the mass murderers do it in the name of religion. Waiiit a minute.....
Beebaabeebaa
Glad someone said that
LoveAtFirstAwkwardMoment
No no no only if they aren't white
peterhjp
It is terrorism. But if you're going to let dictionary definition decide it just imagine what the gov have to face for, say, training 1/2
mayormckreedy
They just have to rename "terrorists". I know it's not the dictionary definition but I always took it to mean an organized group.
peterhjp
guerillas/soldiers abroad, so on.. A whole clusterfuck of walnutty proportions.
HappyTheKangaroo
Christians cannot commit terrorism. God must kill people who don't kill people they way he wants people killed & sometimes he needs help.Duh
YamatoIouko
I'm pretty sure God can kill as he pleases without the need for Cletus doing it in his stead.
HappyTheKangaroo
I agree with you, now let's convince Cletus.
YamatoIouko
Man, ain't that the rub?

What has a turban got to do with this. It's ignorance like yours that allow people like this. If they had a turban they would be Sikhs
hypostatic
That's my point exactly. You're labeled you a terrorist if you're a sikh, or just brown-skinned,but not if you blow up a health clinic.
BingleyBingleyBeep
It's a good job that Bin Laden never wore a turban then! People might have confused him with a Sikh! Muslims wear turbans too, dude.
spookyactionatadistance
That 'turban' you talk of is worn by Pashtun people who are not arabs but are Muslims.
hypostatic
That's my point exactly. You're labeled you a terrorist if you're a sikh, or just brown-skinned,but not if you blow up a health clinic.
hypostatic
In America, you're also labeled a terrorist if you have a turban, even if it has nothing to do with anything.
spookyactionatadistance
Fuck. Your comment was actually really well thought of. I'm really sorry for assuming. I need to stop doing that. It really doesn't help.
hypostatic
eh no worries mate

Because they're christian and white.

But if blacks do it they are praised.

If a bunch of black people went and shot up a clinic with patients there really wouldn't be a lot of praise going on

Ding ding ding!

Jaysus, your comment breaths truth

Correct.

"Christian"
IronRain
Just... pointing out. There was no mentions of Christians anywhere in the post :/
TheWillToWynne
A large number of pro life people get their sentiment from religious teachings or upbringing. Not all of them, but a large number
IronRain
Regardless - there was no mention of Christians, and I just find it rude to assume/stereotype. Perhaps I'm being oversensitive but...
poochyena
or because they aren't organized groups targeting the PP clinics, but yea, which ever works best for your agenda.
szepasszony
By this logic, the Oklahoma City bombing wasn't terrorism.
GIsLife
Actually lone wolf acts of terrorism like these are still considered terrorism. By law it's any violent crime politically motivated
poochyena
Who isn't calling the attackers terrorists?
turtlemcnuggets
They are as Christian as ISIS is Muslim
Beartornado
There really is no reason not to respond to radical Christianity with the same extreme prejudice we have for radical Muslims.
turbo2x
I mean, yeah, but because that's their "classification" I suppose. Fucking Daeshbags need to stop killing people.
MidOrgyThroatPunch
Dude. Daeshbags. Nice.

Yes, cause christians totally havent ever killed people who didnt follow their beliefs at all.
MettalViking
And the crusade ultimately failed anyway.
TheToll
Not entierly true. Their goal was to halt muslim expansion into Europe. Which they succeeded in Iberia for instance.
MettalViking
If you're talking about the crusaders, that was almost exclusively the Roman Catholic church with approval from the "Holy Roman Emperor".
lordoftheT
So only all of western europe's christians then?
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
Like, sikhs wear turbans not Muslims. And this is labeled terrorism by definition.

This really shouldn't have downvotes.. search for "Khalistan separatists."
CWMoudi
I think the comment above yours said it better than I could've.
hypostatic
Exactly. People WILL label you a terrorist if you're a sikh, but not if you blow up a health clinic.
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
Muslims on the other hand are a different story
Beebaabeebaa
And how are they a different story?
Estbgti
I assume it's because they are labelled as terrorists.
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
Sikhs aren't labeled terrorists. At least not where I'm from. We have police officers with government designed turbans.
hypostatic
Oh in the US they are (by regular citizens). And people who blow up health clinics are labeled as "heroes"
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
Nobody is labeling the planned parent shooter a hero except trolls on Twitter.
Octopugs
Anyone in America who looks Muslim or Middle Easter, or who have brown skin are believed to be terrorists. which is fucking stupid
CanadianCanadianCanadian1
I can only speak for the north but that shit don't fly up here.
washismycopilot
At least one Sikh was killed in the US shortly after 9-11 because people are dumb.
KyleWStacey
Dude, the head of our military has a turban. He's got a red one, a camo one...
DrWhoBatmanWarrior
Those people are no better than ISIS.
macfett
Daesh at least admits they're terrorists.
Cyranojoe
Well, I hate them, but ISIS is honestly worse. Doesn't mean they're not hateful creatures who should go to jail for their crimes, mind you.
chase7436
Don't kid yourself The only thing stopping them from acting like ISIS is a more stable government that wouldn't allow that to spread
Cyranojoe
There's plenty of stable Christian governments that don't indiscriminately kill folks who disagree with them. *anymore, anyway.
chase7436
I was talking more of the extremist Christians in the US who would jump at the chance to force their religion on people with a gun.
Redrumofthesheep
There is absolutely no thing as "Christian government" - because all western democratic countries are secular and separated from religion.
chase7436
And the people setting fire to clinics and cherry bombing them would surely be doing far more if they knew they could get away with it.
mimikikididifefezaza
Imagine what these people could accomplish if they channeled that time and energy into helping already born children
snarflex
They do. Most of the major charitable NGOs in this country have religious origins.
ObligatoryFate
Yeah, if they would stop aborting babies they could spend time caring for babies.
SomeGeographer
How many kids have you adopted? Also, do you personally donate to food bank &, non profit low income medical centers?
ObligatoryFate
I have two step kids, 5 children total, we donate to homeless frequently, and make other donations often. We also serve at various centers.
SomeGeographer
As do I. If you are truly pro life, you should adopt children who have no homes, that you claimed were important enough to not abort.
ObligatoryFate
We plan to do so, thank you for your encouragement.
kimmykimkimkimmy
Maybe you should spend time adopting babies instead of making them. So many pro birthers out there breed like no other but don't adopt.

We plan to do so, thank you for your encouragement.

delpharseven
Yeah 140 chars is way too short to discuss issues like this. *turns and stares at imgur*
Daherak
Imgur is not made for that either you know
delpharseven
I know, and yet here we are, trying. And I'm worse than most, IIRC I've gone into double digits replying to someone.
Daherak
Imgur is just a picture sharing website we made it social but it hasn't been made that way
delpharseven
I am aware.
user82650
Twitter is the worst tool for pretty much everything.
Daherak
Twitter is for microblogging. It's pretty fine to share real-time events
iregisteredjusttoupvote
I can't believe abortion is still so controversial in a country so advanced. Theses stories sound like they come from the Middle Ages.
snarflex
Pretty sure pro-lifers consider abortion to be a "barbaric Middle Age" practice, especially so for an "advanced country."
styxxx
Don't exaggerate. In the middle ages we had wars, death penalty, torture and our leaders were expected to give an oath on a religious book.
AdvancedBurrito
Due to bronze age beliefs unfortunately.
babbzilla
I'll probably get down voted for saying this but... It's because of religion. I've never met a 'pro-lifer' who wasn't a zealot.
MongoBro
Ive never met an atheist who wasnt a cynical asshole. I hope y'all believe me like you believe babbzilla
babbzilla
Ooh, I've touched a nerve with this one.
MongoBro
Yes I guess the point of using logical fallacies is just to demean others. You must be a kind and happy person.
babbzilla
I am a happy person, thank you. But I also have opinions that make people twitch like they're getting a root canal without being numbed.
tanebou
I'm going to go with, mostly yes. But more it's our culture to believe that we have every right to mind other peoples' business and 1/2

Hi, my name is Craig, nice to meet you. Now you have met one.

Nice to meet you. Never thought I'd see the day to be honest
mitchenvar123
Not all religious extremists are Muslim. They can be from any demographic. The only characteristic they share is that they're bat shit crazy
snarflex
I fail to see the distinction between religion and politics. People seem highly tolerant of dogmatic atrocities in the latter.
snarflex
"Let's try Communism again. This time it'll work!"
PossibilitiesToCertainties
Research it a bit - the majority of domestic terrorism is not done by muslims. White supremacists/racism and eco-terrorists are the worst.
pandasmakemehappy
All walks of life have crazies. Politics, religion (including anti-religion groups) - anything people feel passionate about
diphiminaids
Nope. I can tell you that no true Scotsman would ever do such a thing.
ringringringringringbananaphone
Fanaticism exists within any religion, philisophy or political idea. People stop to question and start blindly following.

As a Catholic I can tell ya God would call violence like this a sin.

But your catholic leaders like to rape little boys so
chiswatilla
Ok...As a Catholic I fervently believe there is a special place in hell for those guys, and I hope they rot in jail first as bonus.

Churches are the main benefactors to living people down on their luck. And they are notoriously pro-life. What do you do to help?
TheMaskedPharmacist
It's a catchy line but you do yourself a disservice by misrepresenting the argument of the other side.
motorwaffle

Isn't the Catholic stance that BC is immoral cuz you shouldn't be frickin unless it's to make babies?
BemusedBison
That's basically it, but more specifically that a couple having sex must be open to having a child as a result, and not exclude procreation.
emberfish
Right. Like, using protection removes God's will from the equation or whatever.

Mhm, but most people think that's all a grand conspiracy. I've had people tell me they're fudging their financials and are hiding (1)

I agree with abortion when it's due to complications. I'm talking about woman who choose to have an abortion due to just not wanting a baby.
Electriccarsbestcars
They definitely can be necessary. Good friend of mine had a stroke during her last pregnancy and absolutely cannot carry another to term.

My wife didnt kill me so that means no wives have ever killed their husbands, thats the same argument you're making, with a different x & y
CuntyBastard
No, I'm saying it's a minuscule problem, I'm not denying it exists.
OcelotMatrix
Representational bias. You can't speak for all churches. In the average area the government pays more in food stamps than the church.
snarflex
(1) Religious NGOs are a huge fraction of charitable work in this country and in the world.
snarflex
(2) Comparing charitable work/donations to monetary payments that come out of backed-by-force govt-mandated taxes is a bit insulting, no?
OcelotMatrix
I don't doubt you are doing something but every stained glass window is a month of food for a family of four.
CuntyBastard
Solid logic, lets apply it to everyone. ''Don't buy a car or an Xbox, give your money to the poor''
OcelotMatrix
That logic is what the bible says. If they want to practice selective hypocrisy I'd prefer the focus on the living.
snarflex
Those stained glass windows are typically donated, not taken from charitable accounts. They often have a dedication at the bottom.
CuntyBastard
I'm not, I said in my area, and asked them to back up their statement instead of making sweeping generalizations about masses of people
AlecBaIdwin
I believe he was talking about the group of people terrorizing the clinics from the tweets above
TibbleSniggits
It's a sad day when merely asking for verification is met with resistance. I don't care what someone believes, sources should be provided
CuntyBastard
Also, in the average area the Church contributes to disadvantaged people. Little or big, they help. I'm an atheist, but this is fact.
CheweyHeathen
Atheist non-profits and secular charities help too. Churches are given an unfair advantage though by the gov, & proselytize
OcelotMatrix
Yea. But it's the how. Is it done anonymously? What are the stipulations? I could have gone to college for free if I became a Mormon.

No stipulations. In fact, the Little Sisters of the Poor case is going before SCOTUS because LSP *refuses* to discriminate. (1/2)

Pro choice here, this bullshit isn't helping anyone. Inflammatory strawman-ing, if anything all you have done is prove both sides need work.
SomeDetroitGuy
If you think this, you're fucking over the pro-choice movement. They legitimately believe that babies are being murdered.
Shoujo
I wouldnt use the word legitimately, since no medical science says that fetus=baby. How bout truly believe?
GIsLife
I'm 100% pro choice... But that's just not true. Pretty much all pro-lifers don't give two shits about control they just think it's murder
Spinosaur
Agree, also they are actually pro-birth.
InconsistentlyPersistent
Your comment is ignorant and disgusting. You're no better than the "pro-lifers" you chastise.
fiera
I'm definitely pro-choice but saying that someone who is pro-life is automatically repressing women is some tumblr style bullshit.
aFatFinley
No, its because they believe that the baby is still a human
snarflex
Pro-life movement is estimated to be 63% women (sauce: wiki). That suggests something about the demographics of the pro-choice movement, no?
Millillion
No, fuck you and your strawman bullshit. You give no credence to pro-choice be completely ignoring what "pro-life" people believe.
RenegadeRed
Then tell us "wise one" what pro-life believes
Millillion
They believe that fetuses are already living humans on at least some level and that abortion is /literally/ murder.
RenegadeRed
But they don't have cognitive thought aswell as a working cardiovascular system
sushiii
what
Millillion
That person is building up pro-lifers as something they aren't, as having weaker or worse motivations than they actually do, just in 1/?
Millillion
order to make them look even worse than they are. Being pro-life is about what they believe to be murder, not about some hidden hate 2/?
blondee622
You have said it well my friend.....
MadamPuddifoot
For some, it's less about controlling women and more about not killing babies (paraphrasing things I've heard people say).
pieceofpizza
foetus does not equal baby
sushiii
Accomplished by forcing slavery on women, so I would argue against that.
D3adT0m
Which is still a bullshit argument unless these people are also actively fighting against world poverty, starvation, and sickness.
LearnedCoward
Many of them are.
D3adT0m
Yes, but those people are off somewhere actually doing good, rather than trying to fight something that's a symptom of a bigger problem.
goulet
kill the murdering whores!!!

Yea I guess I should've watched the news yesterday before making that comment jokingly. I accept the downvotes.
DandyTheFuckingDandelion
Because nothing says you value human life like shooting up an abortion clinic!
thedewsta
If i thought someone was killing babies i would feel the desire to stop them
chastidy
Made me laugh out loud hahaha
SomeDetroitGuy
TheMagicGoat
any more than the Joker, Two Face or so on could be for putting them in the position where they needed to be saved./
TheMagicGoat
This would be the same logic as crediting Hitler for the Theory of Relativity, if you'll excuse the breach of Godwin's Law.
TinyLiehon
For those that didn't get my reference: http://www.smbc-comics.com/comics/20120528.gif
Subtilico
That is as saying that whoever raped a child for years, and that child later becomes a famous author, brought more happiness than pain.
TinyLiehon
I already explained the reference in this nested bunch of comments
Textuality
Then again, Batman could have prevented hundreds of deaths by killing the Joker rather than allowing him to constantly escape...
AlwaysTrustTheManInABigWhiteVan
Lucy stole 18 apples and shot the shopkeeper. Lucy ate half an apple for every police she killed while making her escape. (1/?)
AlwaysTrustTheManInABigWhiteVan
She killed 3 policemen and one K9. Jake bashed Lucy's head in for eating some of the apples she was supposed to bring him. (2/?)
AlwaysTrustTheManInABigWhiteVan
Police gunned Jake down in an alley and fucked the bulletholes with their batons. The remaining apples were evenly planted on (3/?)

This is why ethics>morals
tryin2figureitout
Yeah, that really depends on how you define those words.
CosmicRadiance
ethics = a set of moral principles
ShiroeTheStrategist
Ethics is the principles set out by society, morals are the principles each individual believes in.
10sky
❸ because so many people couldn't be wrong.
10sky
❶ While this is correct, I'd just like to point out, using, salem witch hunts, the holocaust, and segregation as examples of why it's
10sky
❷ dangerous to have the mindset from @FloodingWaters's comment, that whatever is common practice in society must be right,
lucidMonkeez
The inconsistency is that people claiming to believe it's killing don't take violent action. Very odd state of mind.
SomeDetroitGuy
Not really - would you be willing to kill someone murdering thousands of children a year? That's what pro-lifers feel is happening here.
thedonvito17
Idk, is it a pro-lifers legal right or responsibility to murder someone?
wo1fie
Pro Choice > Pro Life. I draw the line when the brain develops and begins functioning. Before that it's a bundle of cells.
wo1fie
We have too many humans for the planet anyway. We are killing ourselves no matter how you look at it.
cardiokillsgains
Yah I'm pro life by far but there's a better way to go about this then murder and terrorism. I think its murder but they are 1/2
cardiokillsgains
making themselves just as guilty as the people they are trying to stop
DuckMom
I don't know why people have such a hard time understanding this. There is a system of logic behind most of what they do, and you can (1/2)
DuckMom
acknowledge it without agreeing with it. (2/2)
SomeDetroitGuy
As a Pro-Choice person, if people are murdering children, several a day every day, I could see people willing to kill to stop it.
renihharas
That doesn't make it okay though
CaptainCIaw
How can it be a murder when its not a person yet, just a few cells? When I get a haircut, did I commit a genocide?
caboops
No, you removed dead cells that contained your own DNA.
CaptainCIaw
Okay, so I drink a lot of alcohol which will kill some brain and liver cells. What now?
caboops
That is your body and completely your choice. A fetus has its own unique set of HUMAN DNA
AnshulSanam
Implying they actually murder. Is it really murder to remove a bundle of cells.
caboops
Ending a life with its own unique DNA but hey we can over simplify anything. Is it really murder to just put poison in a cup?
Custardmug
So you would be also against killing insects or microogranisms?
caboops
What kind of logic is that? That bundle of cells is HUMAN DNA.
MoistTowlettes
I AM pro-life, but abortion is such a small portion of PP that I still support them. Most clinics (like this one) don't even provide it.
snarflex
Based on the stats of who they serve, for what, and how small they actually are, I've found the "necessary for public health" argument weak.
lostnortherner
I'm pro-life too, but I still think it's the woman who needs to decide what to do with her own body, regardless of what I think about it.
snarflex
Highly recommend this article: http://douthat.blogs.nytimes.com/2015/08/05/there-is-no-pro-life-case-for-planned-parenthood/?_r=2
kulfilover
What I don't understand is why does anyone (pro-life or otherwise) have to try and enforce their beliefs onto the others.
snarflex
If anyone believes a terrible wrong is being committed, do they ever sit quietly? Would we want to live around people who did?
GIsLife
While I completely disagree, it's their belief that their views are ethically correct thus they want everyone to follow their ethics
dartron5000
It honestly makes me sick how the right media has convinced so many people that planned parenthood is state funded abortion clinics.
sushiii
I'm glad you're sensible, but I still can't support someone who believes forced birth is ethical.
InconsistentlyPersistent
And "pro-lifers" can't support someone they believe supports murder. You won't understand them unless you seriously consider their views.
sushiii
Otherwise, it's inconsistent and doesn't follow through. No ethics worth his salt is pro-life because of that reason. It's un-provable.
sushiii
I have seriously considered tier views. I wrote several papers. The problem is they all crumble once you really look at them.
sushiii
The only way for pro-life to make sense is to be pro-life in all cases. Rape, incest, pedophilia, the whole nine yards.
InconsistentlyPersistent
Are they not pro-life in all cases? I don't know many pro-lifers and i cannot speak for them.
sushiii
And 'pro-lifers' won't understand pro-choice until they take an ethics class.
InconsistentlyPersistent
Maybe they have and it reinforced their beliefs.
snarflex
Hitchens was an atheist, anti-religious, but he also understood biology. He was pro-life. Will an ethics class affect the biology?
MoistTowlettes
And I respect your opinion. You see, not all republicans are stupid assholes.
sushiii
I still think you're an asshole. Your opinion is callous and has caused much suffering in the world.
sushiii
Nothing personal, though.
HitlersArtCritic
Kids cost a lot and can get you arrested. They'll make you poor if you can't afford them.
snarflex
So... why isn't infanticide legal in that case?
sushiii
Exactly.
HitlersArtCritic
Costs are kids>abortion>condoms. If a condom fails, an abortion works too. It actually contributes to science and medical research.
mikeatike
That is a fantastic question. Also why are the same people that are "pro-life" so often against any form of welfare or govt healthcare?
Butane9000
Because government assistance can breed dependency and abuse. It used to be looked down upon to accept such hand outs as failing at life.
mikeatike
So cut off all welfare to everyone just because some people abused it?
Butane9000
DVSBSTrD
And always so eager to bomb other countries "back to the Stone Age" regardless of how many civilians get caught in the crossfire.

They aren't pro life. They're pro birth. It's allows them to sleep well at night because they feel compassionate.
DoctorWatchamacallit
that's the point of religion.
USRaider
So?
Corin
I don't have a god telling me anything.
JR2000

Well, there's no source for that. It's just my observation.
ShadeFawks
Because as we know the great heyzues said that people should never help anyone else because they should get a job or something.
funkjacket
Pro-Birth is the way you make the most money: on a large, uneducated, depressed populace living paycheck to paycheck.
rshini
They also tend to be pro-death penality
zgraphikerin
Pro-life =/= Pro-quality life
deadandbloated
R-selection vs K-selection. I know it's an outdated model, but it explains so much.
PsychopompGecko
And by forcing stuff like waiting periods, they make riskier surgical abortions necessary rather than the quick and easy medical ones.
Girlie1337
I personally don't see how the two are related. Most pro-lifers believe it's a child, so asking for permission to kill it is outrageous.
abetteridiot
It's related b/c actually being pro-life would mean after the birth they focus on also caring about the resulting life/child. They don't.
Girlie1337
I'm pro-life, a counselor in a school, and I work closely with Social Services to make sure they're all healthy and safe. I'm not (1/2)

If you read the bible, God is very pro-abortion. The great flood, for instance. A special drink for Jews that would abort adulterous babies.

YES THIS
GundalfTheGay
Same goes for gun control
lornabird
Cause they don't trust the government to be able to competently run such things.
Turdnado
It's true, it's a lot cheaper to kill a child no one wants than care for an adult no one wants.
QuantumSupersexposition
because they can't see what they really are: fascists.
HerrBisch
And so often pro-war.
snarflex
Is belief in limited govt a sign of moral deficiency now?

I'm pro-choice but this is unfair 2argue.It's poss to have diff opinions across political spectrums. Ex: pro-choice but against euthanasia.
TsunamiJohn
It's not a money issue, it's a trust issue.
tomyironmane
We mostly don't trust our government with money, power, or control.
BadBoys2isUnderrated
Because they disagree with the government's use of force. Stealing for charity is different than voluntary charity. Cons. do more of that.
mikeatike
would love to see some statistics on this. I don't consider giving to a church as charitable as giving to the red cross.
sowetoninja
Can you tell me why when an (actual) terrorist kills people in the name of Islam, everyone is real quick to point out that they're not "true"
sowetoninja
>Muslims, or when a feminists threatens people with death "not true feminism", but when these crazy people start threatening PP, it's not>
sowetoninja
> questioned at all whether they are pro-lifers but people go on and make even more ridiculous generalizations instead?
mikeatike
This is a very good question. I, and a lot of other people, don't subscribe tot he "no true scotsman".
iamleejn
Let me start off by stating my opinion on abortion in no uncertain terms: I think it should be safe, legal, and rare. 1/?
iamleejn
Modern contraception is very effective when used properly, cheap, and (should be) abundant. It's simply more sensible to avoid pregnancy 2/?
iamleejn
From what I can see, it's a matter of efficient returns on an "investment". 9 months vs ~18 years is a huge financial difference. 3/?
iamleejn
Pro-lifers want to feel like they've saved lives: for the greater good. However, resources (money) are limited. To get the best return 4/?
mikeatike
The same people that are against abortion are usually against sex education and contraceptives for teenagers. Yeah, it don't make sense.
Arcanite
Probably cuz they didn't attend a good school so they don't know anything
DidItForScience
Well a lot of the ones in control have gone to prestigious institutions. I think some believe they did it all on their own without any help.
mikeatike

Being pro-life: You're doing it right.
TheJazzGhost
Ok, I'll bite. Are you against all forms of abortion, even in cases of rape or where birth threatens the life of the mother?
Corin
With rape, I think it's still a shame that they won't get a chance to live. However, if the mother's life is at serious risk, it's her call.
TropicLightning
Whoo hoo, another pro-life liberal...there are others out there!
Hunterdvincent
So you guys like to shoot people huh?
morrissimo
If you start with a libertarian philosophy it seems perfectly reasonable that all of these positions would pretty naturally follow
AmSaiCo
Sounds like someone doesn't know what a libertarian actually is...
prototype01
Agreed. Not all libertarians are pro-life. I am pro-choice and I believe that our freedoms shouldn't be impeded. Even with that hard choice.
morrissimo
I will only point out that I said nothing remotely like "all libertarians are pro-life"
prototype01
Also, I really hate tiny message sizes cause I got lots to say about this... but I'll stop here.
mikeatike
How does that fit with pro-life?
morrissimo
Libertarian foundation + life begins at conception would get you that blend of positions
mikeatike
So the christian right wing. Sounds like a blend of tea party and libertarianism.
mikeatike
Most libertarians I know are pro-choice.
morrissimo
I would hypothesize that your observation is more a matter of social selection than a statistically useful sampling of libertarians :)
Scrawlsey
Not murder for pro-life. Libertarian would abhor the taking of the ultimate freedom that a person has, life.
morrissimo
Agree completely - meant as a reason to advocate in defense of the unborn child.
mikeatike
But they would mean taking the liberty away from an adult. Which is why most libertarians I know are pro-choice.
lornabird
Adults have the liberty to not have sex or use protection/birth control.
TrashRemastered
Because they are Pro-Birth, not Pro-Life. "WE WANT YOU TO GIVE BIRTH. But after that we don't give a shit about your baby."
GetLitNKnit
Or they don't think that it's the government's to be involved in that. Most churches are involved with pregnancy refuges and other programs.
lizzieskwrl
Yet the government would be involved in the woman's healthcare, the babies healthcare, the delivery, the aftercare, etc etc. Faulty logic.

Yeah I was about to mention this. You can get super reduced cost healthcare, but wait months. Or pay a higher fee and get seen right away
tomyironmane
... the problem is that when the government is involved, the taxpayer pays premium rates, and you get super reduced cost service.

bushidopirate

There is no gray area here. Either you believe in a woman's ability to make legal health decisions for herself, or you are wrong.
snarflex
I love how a clearly ad-hominem attack is upvoted. Imgur ftw.

That and they believe so highly in their 'morals' that they think the entire human race should be indoctrinated into obeying them.
vbheaven
have you ever heard of democracy? that's how it works. you are "indoctrinated into obeying" the rules of the many.
vanella
The democracy said "pro-choice" so pro-lifers should really just accept that
vbheaven
there is a difference between acceptance and following the law. "pro-lifers" have to follow the law but it is important to voice opinion.
InconsistentlyPersistent
Lol, and you don't? Can you actually tell me you don't want everyone to believe what you believe? Else why would you even be here arguing?
sushiii
I believe in the right for a woman to choose. Which is the right thing to believe. Nobody can accurately judge another's circumstances.
vbheaven
"the right thing to believe" is inflammatory. and the entire judicial system is based on judging other people's circumstances.
Deathcta
1/2 I'm going to get dv to oblivion. But I would say ALL "pro-lifers" are morons. Via the facts, there is no reason to be against abortion.
Deathcta
A- We are vastly over populated B- Unless an emergency, abortions are performed early term before developed C- An unwanted child= miserable
snarflex
"Vastly overpopulated"? Even the UN believes the world population is stabilizing. Many countries are paying people to reproduce.
Fierfly
There are a few very valid reasons to be against abortion. I'm pro-choice mainly for the fact that abortion is necessary sometimes.
TooLazyToDoSomethingElse
There is no reason to be against it, its not your body and you have no say. Who gives a fuck what you have to say when its not your baby.
Fierfly
Well why should a mother be allowed to abort then? The child's body is not hers and she should have no say. Your logic is bad.
ExtremistSatire
do you think that abortions should be permitted up until the time the baby is born?
vanella
...because kids are the worst thing ever...
Fierfly
Well I think risking a woman's life with a complicated childbirth is wholly unnecessary and medically irresponsible.
MaxPatlick
after spending 18 years being one of the worst things ever, kids evolve into something even worse.. adults.
