Well, that's why this assertion doesn't really make sense. For the most part it seems that conservatives are against mail-in and liberals are in favor of mail in. Utah's such a red state that a lot of people in both parties don't even bother voting because they don't think there's a point.
Church's are allowed to be involved in issues but not elections of I'm understanding this blurb correctly.
They're not denying your friends escaped polygamy. There's the mainstream Mormons (aka LDS) who stopped polygamy ~100 yrs ago, then you have fundamentalist Mormons (aka FLDS) and other fundamentalist type of shoots that still do it. Easy for people to get confused between them but, I'm just glad your friends got out.
