You're absolutely right! That's why I claim that people can't prove that god doesn't exist because then they would have to prove that he doesn't, which is impossible to do scientifically or otherwise. By saying that I don't know if god does or does not exist, I don't have to prove anything either! The onus would be on the person who claims that god does not exist to prove their claim, a claim I am not making.
Sure, people should follow the evidence to have the highest chance of being right. The problem with that is that the type of evidence used in these kinds of arguments can never raise the probability of truth to 100% because the subject matter is not sterile. A person can have a healthy model of belief and still believe in silly things like fairies and leprechauns, as long as they can logic their way out of it when presented with facts that the current situation isn't related to that belief.
2/2 If I make the statement "Blue elephants who fart hydrogen don't exist", you and I both know that such a creature doesn't exist on earth. What about other planets? What about at the microscopic level? The correct statement would be "These creatures don't exist on earth" or "There's no way to see such a creature with the naked eye", but saying that they definitely don't exist would be an overstatement until we have a better understanding of our universe.
1/2 Absolutely! You are completely free to believe that there is no god, bigfoot or invisible dragons. The problem arises when you try to prove that they don't factually exist. There are millions of factors you or I don't know about that could point to them existing and we'd be none the wiser. You can think that these things don't exist, but as long as you can't prove that they don't exist, which is impossible, saying they don't exist isn't completely true.
It has to be the absence of belief instead of the conviction of absence because the latter means Atheists would need to prove that there is no definitely god and proving that something factually doesn't exist is impossible.I.E. People can say they don't believe in god but people are wrong to say that there definitely isn't a god. I don't believe there is one, but I've been wrong on so many things that all I can say for sure is "I dunno!"
Oh I see, thanks for the clarification!
Wasn't he also chosen by the Wakandan Panther god as worthy of ruling the planet?
Heh, my cat used to do that until I put the whole thing in a box so he couldn't move it. Instead, he just rams his paws into the feeding hole and fishes around until he gets a kibble or two.
I hope you're right. I've noticed a few months back that most grocery stores nowadays have digital price tags on everything instead of the usual paper, so I just assumed it was that Surveillance Pricing thing. Hope I'm wrong!
2/2 pay the price it was at when I picked it up or change price when they get to the counter? What about the grocery stores where you can see each item individually as the cashier scans them? Will the price be the same as what's on the shelf where I picked up my product? What if the price is different.I get how dangerous and unethical the practice is, not arguing that in the slightest. I just don't see HOW it can physically be implemented.
I never got how surveillance pricing physically works. (It might be because of my location) From what I gather, the price tag on the item will say a price that changes depending on my personal data, but what happens between the time I pick it off the shelf and the time I bring it to the counter? How does the item stay the same price while it's in my physical cart until I reach the counter? If I pick it up at a price and then give it to a friend before reaching the counter, are they gonna 1/2

I mean, are we sure this isn't AI? The angry orange seems so out of place...
Every time I have assumed gender or sexual orientation, I've been wrong. So, I just gave up trying to figure that out and let them do their thing.

Thank you for providing specific reasons. I always used the "Ok, but what's stopping him from releasing it now?" but your argument is much better!
Huh, just realized that last sentence is a double negative, lemme rephrase: Fuck Google, full stop.
I mean, the person in the comic clearly goes out of their way to make it known that they already know something specifically because they don't want to be be told that what they were thinking was wrong, so yeah I'm pretty sure about what this comic is trying to say. Also, fuck Google and everything it says it stands for.
There's something intrinsically ironic about using a mouse on a cat.
Because people usually have an overreaction to being told they're wrong.
Man, what kind of rock have I been living under? last week I learned that Ghetto is derogatory and now this...
An excuse to share my favorite commercial you say?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TijcoS8qHIE
Was expecting the skyrim intro there for a sec!
Thank you! I've was feeling like there was an issue with how a lot of people use it, but couldn't find a specific way to put it into words!
Yeah, I feel like this place is an echo chamber sometimes. Don't get me wrong, it still isn't anywhere NEAR the brainwashing from Rs, but this post is an good example of why you can't just go with what the majority of people here say.Not gonna use the "Both sides are the same" BS argument, but there is something to say about both sides having similar problems. In this case, both sides turn a blind eye to people promoting hate towards the other side as long as they keep supporting their cause.
People need to be born to be babies. Fetus' are parasites, not babies.
2/2 ... something while also making sure that people can't come back and tell them that fetus' aren't people. We've been blaming that f***er Charlie Kirk for this exact kind of argument!
Although I agree with the scientific content of this post, the language of this text really goes out of it's way to paint pregnancy as being even worse than it already is. Adding the sidebar "(The quotes are to indicate that this isn't about what they consciously want, but about what evolution entails)" doesn't change anything. The author could've easily used a different word that would've made the sidebar unnecessary. This was a deliberate attempt to make the fetus look like it "wants"... 1/2
I really don't get this to be honest. It sounds to me like this is suggesting that people should always reciprocate when being insulted or demeaned, but it doesn't make sense because it would also apply to the original person who insulted me. If I ridicule him for doing so, wouldn't the post mean he should keep insulting me because after all, he shouldn't be the bigger person either, right? Not trying to bash the post, just trying to understand what its really trying to say.
Oh, so that's how cops are recruited!
