Music junkie, and artist-in-training. Vim lover. Fan of polar bears. Enjoys beer.
#3 We don’t even need to kill them. Just… stop doing their dirty work. It’s not the Elon Musks and Donald Trumps that mystify me: it’s the fact that there’s so many people eager to support them, and so many more willing to go along as if they held any power that wasn’t surrendered to them.
That was Biden’s term, too. I suspect someday we’ll learn about a lot of behind the scenes clean-up we didn’t hear about, like debugging the White House.
I don’t. Beaten up? Possibly. I’d rather see him held accountable, sent to prison, and be ostracized by society. I would say I’d hope he’d change, but I don’t think he would be able to do that.
It’s ridiculous seeing Trump and others trying to pose him as some macho, violent, badass. I doubt he’s ever actually been in a fight with another person his size and taken the risk of being hit. Abusing children or women doesn’t count.
Honestly, if we manage to get rid of Trump, I think we need to take a few decades off to work on ourselves as a country. Just lay low, get some therapy, hit the gym, get a cat, that sort of thing.
Yes
#4 damn. I kinda want that outfit.
I’m far less concerned about him being paid $100m for a movie than all the CEOs, etc., making that kind of money laying off workers and screwing over customers. But, really, nobody should be getting a $100m payday while others starve or go without healthcare. I hope he uses it well.
One of the most moving, beautiful passages I’ve ever read. It hit me like a ton of bricks the first time I read it and it still affects me now.
#28 We had stuff like this at our wedding. Halloween themed, everybody wore costumes. Highly recommend.
What the fuck is the point at that age? I don’t get the appeal. If I was a politician I’d serve until I was 70, tops. And then, only if I had some major goal I thought I could accomplish like passing universal health care.
#6 their remotes
“Fuck your face-recognition system.”
Not really. If he wasn’t armed and wasn’t posing a danger, he should’ve been arrested and tried, not killed. Lethal force should be used only when a person is posing a current threat to others.
I really want to see these being turned against ICE. It seems to me that there have to be some downsides of having an electrified hand. Can they handle guns while wearing a glove? If not, that’s a plus. What if the target is wearing non-conductive clothing?
They’re finding that many times they don’t outnumber the opposition. And they expect more resistance, because they plan to do worse. They are cowards of the worst sort. Bullies who get off on hurting others.
Truth is, Clinton won in 1992 because Ross Perot suctioned off voters who probably would’ve voted for Bush. He didn’t get >50% in either election. So, I don’t think Carville or others deserve as much credit as they think they do. (For the record, I voted for Clinton both times. Because he wasn’t Bush or Dole.)
“Oh shit, here goes uncle Billy with his alien abduction story.”
I remember buying a Fangoria magazine about the SFX in American Werewolf in a London and being so psyched to finally see it on cable. It totally lived up to the hype. Still holds up today, really. Being bitten by a werewolf would suck, but he did get to hook up with Jenny Agutter, so… kind of a wash.
I think learning how the world is for people with disabilities should be part of the curriculum for all people. Kids should have to learn what it’s like to navigate the world in a wheelchair, or with blindness, etc., early on. I think, or at least hope, that would go a long way to helping people be more aware of and considerate of the needs of people with disabilities.
Not a high bar, really.
They’re kind of hit or miss for me, but “Cities in Dust” is one of the best songs of the 80s. “Kiss Them for Me” is damn good, too.
Check out Mdou Moctar, too.
He’s in a no-win scenario, and has been for a while. The expectations are too great, and it’s likely that nothing he can publish will satisfy people. He should probably turn it over to another author, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. Not while he’s alive, anyway. He’d probably be happier to just admit he’s not going to finish it and move on.
The very best. Thanks!
Great voice. She’d be a fantastic audiobook narrator, assuming she’s not already.
My boy Bubby sometimes woke me up at 4 a.m. singing the song of his people. He would come back to bed after I called him, and he’d curl up by my head. We said goodbye to him last year. I’d give anything to have him wake me up in the middle of the night again.
Yup
3, because no TV station operated on that channel. 2 was ABC, 4 was CBS, 5 was NBC, 9 was PBS, 11 and 30 were local stations without network affiliation.
“Cat” is a promotion, never a demotion.
