Yeah mine's got an upgraded clutch tune exhaust . I like it but everything's fucking touch screen and I rarely drive it. I usually drive my old van around or the fiero. I only take the golf if I got to tow the family around

Yeah it's been fun. Not sure who's down voting us LOL

Yeah I agree. At the drag strip it would make all a world a difference. But for the street I'm not sure I want a high stall converter. That might get annoying to drive with especially in traffic.

The factory unit can support around 450 horsepower but if I upgrade it I can bump those numbers up to 600. Not that I ever want to put 600 in such a small light car lol. Well I do want to. But I would kill myself for sure lol

To the contrary these transmissions do have a smaller output shaft spline that can be upgraded it also can benefit from an upgraded chain the factory one is 7/8 and they make a 1 inch upgrade and better clutch packs and better shift solenoids. Those are the common modifications to the transmission. It really does make it a whole different transmission. It is a worthwhile upgrade transmission wise. But as for the torque converter there's minimal gains.

2/2 losing the trunk compartment and I don't know that that's a sacrifice I am willing to make. I do like going and getting groceries with it and running errands so having a trunk is kind of a must for me.

People do drop the North Star V8 into fiero's it is a very common swap. I just wanted to keep a 6 cylinder especially the one I have because it responds well to turbo and superchargers. The V8 not so much. That being said people do LS swap them as well and twin turbo them but I don't need a 700 horsepower street car LOL. I want one though maybe in the future I'll have to do that project. But it does require cutting up some of the original sheet metal in the engine compartment and losing 1/2

Thank you. It does zoomy stuff for sure

I mean the clutch packs are in the transmission it is part of the transmission. There are upgrades I can do I'll give you that. As for the torque converter yes I could probably spend $3,000 on a better torque converter to pick up 3/10 in the quarter mile lol. Not really worth it. If I dropped about 7,000 bucks into that transmission I could make it faster than the manual.

On these older cars a standard shift would make the car faster. I lose 10 to 15% of my power to the wheels through that automatic. Would likely only lose 5% with a manual.

It's been a hell of a labor of love I can tell you that. I've owned it over 10 years now. Not the first or second engine swap. Every time bigger better. Lol . These cars are so underrated you can literally do almost anything. My buddy is putting a VR6 in his. These cars are so versatile.

Dude I thought about it. But the car is already a handful. No airbags no power steering no ABS no traction control it's basically a go-kart. I love it the way it is. I did put air conditioning in it for the wife though lol

No but people with similar mods are making between 320 and 350 wheel the torque is about the same right about 340 to 360. The next upgrades are intercooler and an even smaller pulley with a new tune. This winter I need to get working on the fiberglass work to accommodate the intercooler under the rear deck lid as it makes the supercharger stand taller so I need to modify the rear deck lid.
