Funny you should mention swords. My son's girlfriend recently passed her PHD. Here in Australia graduands wear a mortar board and gown to receive their scroll at graduation. In Finland they get a sword. I thought that was a great idea.just the other day, a sword I ordered online arrived. I had it engraved with her new rank, name and the date. I will give it to my son to give to her on graduation day
