the only thing I remember seeing as a child that actually disturbed me was on the history channel. My parents let me watch that with no restrictions. I was up late one night and saw footage of a prisoner being executed, and man, I still remember that.

my (very Christian) parents had this revolutionary approach to handling occasions when I'd see something on TV they didn't like, they'd just tell me not to watch it anymore. Didn't always work for them but they realized that such were the natural limits of their authority.
i've been shown about a hundred supposedly damning admissions of guilt and they all would be, had they come from somebody with any command of language, coming from him it's all just babble. I completely understand what you mean.

you could not invent an ideology that can't be marketed to men between the ages of about 13-25. not saying anybody outside that range is invulnerable, but man, the shit I bought into in that timeframe baffles me. and I know plenty of men who never escaped. the cocktail of anger, fear, sexual insecurity and need for identity we have at that age makes selling us a worldview really easy.
even before trump there were mutterings about a schism creating a dissident "american catholic church". trump appears to be frantically blowing fetid wind on those embers. normally i'd experience a faint schadenfreude whenever the church hits a roadblock but any moderating force telling american christians to chill the fuck out is sorely needed right now.
to be fair If I was an alien that could teleport people I would also personally victimize this man by bouncing him through higher dimensions

tangentially related, iirc Hideo Kojima said he works with so many white actors in full mocap becasue his Japanese collaborators have such nice skin that it makes them look fake when theyre photo scanned. reproducing accurate skin is hard in pretty much every medium apparently :D

they didn't have a choice at the start, they had to adopt religious rhetoric because Germany was overwhelmingly Christian at the time. Their Antisemitism leaned heavily into that angle, by claiming that Jesus was a white "aryan" and an archetypical victim of Semitic aggression in an fictional race war. Many of the higher ups wanted to gradually move the party away from religion entirely but it was too useful not to adopt
somebody needs to do a study if being filled with hate and spite can prolong life, and whether the rest of us can benefit by rendering these people down into some kind of elixir in a big pot every year in a ritualistic fashion.

if a conviction and sentence results from the files it lends them more credibility so this is a positive development in my eyes, it may be an alloyed one but I agree it's a start and it put a spring in my step this morning
