White folk waging war in the Middle East for ‘religious’ reasons?

Holy Crusades Batman!

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Every religious person thinks that other religions are misguided. If not, they would change religion.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's not actually a war. Congress would have had to have declared it for it to be a war. As it is, a bunch of rogue soldiers have illegally commandeered US military equipment and used it to commit murder. Of course, our DOJ will instantly charge them for this illegal act. /s

I'll bet I know exactly which of the three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Muslim, and Christianity) Mike Johnson thinks is the only one that is not misguided.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is the part where the army needs to absolutely put its foot down and disobey or they're just going to die for the bad guys' whims.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Upvoting this, but leaving a comment to explain that I don't actually *like* it.

So, first it was Iran was close to having nuclear weapons, but then the Pentagon busted a big hole in that one (they're nowhere near capable). So then it was intel that inferred Iran was about to attack Israel (it was not)... and then it was, Israel was going to attack Iran, but we had to do it jointly because Iran would've attacked US bases.

But now it's because Iranians have a "misguided religion."

Whole lotta propaganda slip-n-slide there, Speaker Johnson. v

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross"

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I agree with Mike so far as all religions are at least partly misguided.

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Everyone expected the American inquisition

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

if that is accepted as a rationale it obliges them to expand this conflict to the entire region. this is apocalyptic.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, Mike, Jesus said the rich are evil so maybe we should start following his teaching by actually taxing the rich. Thoughts on that or does the administration just get to choose what parts of the Bible are valid?

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

All of your fucking gods are made up, you piece of shit.

Pot, meet kettle... All religion is misguided.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Religion is a fucking disease.

5 months ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 4

Bro it's an excuse. These guys do not give one single shit about actual religion. They just spout streams of absolute bullshit from their mouths in the hope that it'll appease the ignorant poors.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh really ? The Cultural Revolution wasn't religious in nature. The Killing Fields wasn't either. Neither did the Holodomor nor the Gulags. They were committed by people with no religion. People with no religion had done some of the worst things in the world.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

I think you mentioned this diatribe already. OH REALLY????

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So religion can be shit as well as non religious stuff. What's your point? You just looking to argue like a Monty Python skit? Or are you religious & trying to make yourself feel better?

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When all other options for casus belli are greyed out 'uh.. holy war?' I mean.. 'holy special military operation'

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We‘re back to the crusades. Wow.

5 months ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 1

Now there's an idea. Promote the illegal war in Iran as a 'crusade' force the military to allow old and fat Christians to go right for Jesus... change the locks while they're away.

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They‘re hoping for the Rapture. Lunatics

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Who the hell is he to critisize someone else's beliefs? How bout this. American Christianity has been corrupted, and turned into a weapon by Christian Nationalists to justify their hatred of and to oppress anyone who does not believe what they believe. Johnson claims to be a devout Christian. He is not. He is a punk and a liar. If he were a devout Christian, I would expect that each morning just before he convened the House he would ask himself, what would Jesus do. And then he would do it.

Military coup when?

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing new there. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/iraq-war-george-bush-god-b2671682.html

5 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is a particular brand of dumb however, as the jack offs legitimately think they are on a Crusade to bring about the End Times and begin the Rapture.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Which just blows my mind. You're going to go out and kill a bunch of people, you're actively trying to force God's hand by creating your own Armageddon and if Jesus does return, why would you think he'd be on your side after that? If the rapture happens, you're not getting picked after starting a war that will kill billions. It's such a weird mindset, but that's religion for you, I guess.

Jewish jebus, god, is vengeful and murdered millions.

Christian jebus is love your neighbor.

Doesn’t matter, all a bunch of made up bullshit to keep people in power.

Fuck all religions and any “true believers along with them”

Some religious people are trapped by cognitive dissonance and as well expulsion from their friends and family as outcasts if they leave. But they gotta grow a spine and a brain or thy are guilty as the rest of them.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking Bronze-age mythology, and we're killing ourselves over it. While we're at it, let's murder some kids in the name of Zeus, Thor, Odin, Ra and whatever the Mormons believe in. People ask me why I'm an atheist. Here, let me count the bodies. I mean, let me county the ways.

The wood chipper of justice yearns to be fed all the same

5 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Even if he's NOT, he's guilty of aiding and abetting criminals from facing justice. And he's guilty as an accessory to the crime by knowing about the crimes and not reporting the people who are guilty.

Mike Johnson is a 7M Dominionist. They believe they can bring about the end times and the Kingdom of God on Earth by expelling the Palestinians from Greater Israel, and having Christianity dominate seven aspects of society and culture.

Other alleged Dominionists include Ted Cruz, Charlie Kirk, Lauren Boebert, Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee (who recently talked about Israel's biblical right to seizing more land), Sarah Palin, Rick Perry, and the Trump WH Faith Office.

People WITH religion have done far worse. And in the name of their God to boot.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know a lot of people think it reasonable to be accepting of other people's faith. But faith is denial of reality, substituting it for fiction involving an imaginary friend. It terrifies me that so many people think allowing that is more reasonable than rejecting it. How the hell did we get so used to normalizing other people's delusions just to avoid some social conflict? I know faith can help people through hard times, but there has to be a better way. Religion is a tool for genocide.

5 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

For just about as long as written language, religion has been used as a tool for genocide. And that won't change as long as we keep looking the other way.

5 months ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

If we want to live in Star Trek, religion has to go.

5 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I think there is a place for religion, in the way of tradition. I think these things have a place in culture and such. Even if I think it's all bullshit, I do think they have cultural importance/significance. But it needs to be secularized.

5 months ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 7

The argument of "tradition" is just as much of a scourge.

5 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I dunno man, we have essentially secularized christmas in the netherlands through Sinterklaas, and though that has it's own share of traditional problems (familiar with Zwarte Piet?) there are a whole bunch of places that adopted alternative ways of celebrating it without changing the core concept.

5 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Traditional practices are not implicitly a problem, rather it's when tradition is used as an argument (or atleast, weighted far too heavily) to justify the continued belief and/or practice of something in lieu of reason.

Having a Dutch friend I am familiar with Zwarte Piet and the controversy surrounding it, and that's indeed a good example. Personally while I feel it probably should be migrated away from, I can appreciate the argument that it's contemporarily benign.

The organizations that represent religions are where the evil tends to happen.

5 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Yeah, religion essentially just exploits people's need for community.
