I lika-da-cheesa. An Aussie (try not to hold that against me!). 38years young female, just procrastinating against life and responsibilities, like everyone else on here I guess.
Same… long country road trips as a kid imagining myself riding my horse alongside the car; oops go round that puddle, yep jump that fence, nope take that trail up the hill and down again… I still do this sometimes as an adult when bored (as a passenger - challenging to do while driving 😅)
Yep. Peripheral nerves get damaged, but so do the blood vessels. So not only do you not notice the initial wound, but the healing is very poor and slow due to the damaged blood vessels. Then, chronic ulcers develop as the skin can’t regrow and heal properly. Infections develop as bacteria love sugar (higher in poorly controlled diabetes), and can become chronic, and often bury deeper than the skin and into the underlying bone (osteomyelitis). When it reaches the point of no return = amputation.
#15 (I think)… ring cutter: Public Service Announcement- as an ED Doc… pls don’t use titanium cockrings or other potential entrapment devices… our cheap public hospital budgets can’t afford the expensive kind, so your junk usually has to wait for the fire brigade to show up. Plastic/synthetic usually ok.
Gotta be some kind of record!
Agreed! I grew up with and understand the sports thing; it’s a sense of community and connection with others, a point of pride and a purpose in one’s life… I also understand the view of it as a meaningless (in the grand scheme/sense of Life) business model that can be taken way too seriously and can get violent and destructive. Enjoy your sports or any hobby/interest by all means… be passionate but also be respectful that it just that; a sport, not a cult, a part of you but not the whole.
I’ve used GPT for one task (after a friend insisted it would be amazing) to prepare some interview questions/answers for a job I was applying for. I was pretty happy with the results in the end; once I refined things a bit, got it to summarise in my own casual conversational style; I could edit as I pleased yet still had a good framework for a response to various possible questions that sounded professional. Then just used it as a dot point reminder of things to talk about, but in my own words.
You two are so cute together. Gay? ;)
Yep, just to piss off a whole bunch of bridge pedestrians that have to duck under it. Ughh.
Dunning-Kruger I think
#25 Crucify me if you will, but I just don’t like Oreo “cookies”(or Biscuits/Biccies as generally referred to in Australia). The cream centre sure, but that’s mostly the sugar base which is easy to like. The cookie part is underwhelming yet overrated. My humble opinion.
So impressed and inspired! I can’t not think about the potential back pain/injury… but still, just awesome.
Of course, there’s a huge number of patients that tighten involuntarily due to trauma etc, vaginismus and other things. But honestly, the high degree of cary-on about pain on speculum is so often related to this memes weird suggestion to try show off you Keegle skills… and it is so unnecessary to a gynae. Get rid of this as an idea you think you need to do! Make it a pleasant experience for not just yourself, but your gynae too! Quick and simple to just go floppy then it’s painless for both!
#31 No, not really… u either get a prolapse over time or you don’t, there’s heaps of factors. What’s really annoying is when you try to get someone to ‘relax’ their muscles for a speculum exam but they intentionally try to tighten up to “show how tight they are”. Just makes it painful for them, and irritating for the examiner (internal folds then start to occlude the view through the spec)… probably not something many people know, so go forth and spread the word to stop trying to show off pls.
Definitely. GeriAtrics is often ripe with abuse; psychological/emotional, physical, financial, and sometimes even sexual. If, in my old age, someone could just “take the old bat for a walk around the block” I’d be very grateful. Or, more importantly… we pay carers properly for such a vital service!!!
Farriers are amazing humans… the lower back injuries are so common… (not many horses are so compliant with a foot stool as in this vid). Awesome trade, and should really be paid top dollar.
Agreed. 2hrs will just leave you grumpy and super tired. Zero sleep will still leave you grumpy, but not quite as tired.
The ppl have to be worried about their free speech being deleted or reported is a sign they are not in living in a free country. Come live in Australia (or other countries) where you are encouraged to take the piss (talk shit) about your politicians without fear. 😜😂Really feeling for you all in the States and hope you get through this but it looks bleaker every day. Just so you know, and don’t feel like you’re the minority; the Rest of the World hates Trump too.
Thank you, that was a really good watch!
Now imagine 50, 100, 150+ years from now… likely colonised, increasing infrastructure as time goes on… Mars born babies… so much potential ahead.
#2 I cackled… thank you for that, and the rest was fun :)
Always room (and $$$) for improvement, and yes there needs to be more bulk billing GPs. But too many abuse the ED system, then wonder why the wait times are so long… you have an actual life threatening emergency you’ll get seen quick. You’re there coz it’s cheaper than a GP for some nonessential complaint?.. you’re gunna wait, then get directed back to your GP.
Such a big range of EDS and subtypes. There’s also a big difference between subluxation and actual dislocation. Also, many young teens are tending to grasp onto this ‘diagnosis’ as a means to not work, and live off disability pensions. It’s really sad, they go through the spiral of joining social media groups that feed off each other rather than just supporting and encouraging them to strengthen/exercise and work to live their best lives. Small portion I guess, but my niece is living proof…
Yup. ED doc here too. Sorry sir, but no one slips and falls on a shampoo bottle that ends up in your rectum, without any trauma externally (or internally!). How bout you just take the ego hit on the chin so we can work out the safest way to get it out of you?😆

lol. “Rocks”.
But I guess… like, songs and movies are cooler right.
Humanity is only just barely scratching the surface of knowledge here. Imagine if scientists were paid like rockstars… massive momentum in the advancement of humankind.
It’s so dumb; such an old grainy picture where the colour has disintegrated making it even harder for those of us without a gut instinct based on prior repetitive exposure to immediately identify… but “1 fifth, 2 fifth, red fifth, blue fifth” is similar to a Dr Seuss rhyme about fish. Apparently.
Agreed… intentional.
