I expect this one to be a much smaller issue. Lots of software never used Unix time at all. Current builds of Unix/Linux were updated to fix the issue ages ago. By 2038, it'll only be software that was compiled like three decades earlier that will break. Maybe some old embedded systems and old we-lost-the-source-code-but-hey-it-still-works-fine utilities here and there but probably not very much.

Personally I got paid quite a bit to do a tiny part of the fix.

For a slightly less optimistic take on this topic, give Beanpole a watch. 2019 film, not upbeat, but very good.

Amazing to think there was once a time when managers were held accountable for their decisions

Yep. Dente will do that.

White phosphorus shells. Not a celebration, that's war. Possibly filmed in Ukraine.

Female cats in heat yowl very loudly. It's not doing it in the video, but I assume that's the context here - the cat has been screaming at night. It is very annoying. If it was outside, it would soon attract a male, get pregnant, and stop yowling. If trapped indoors it just goes on for days.

Well, the silence means you can stake that claim.

#34 I'm pretty sure your hand doesn't go through the stool because of the Pauli exclusion principle

I see no reason to assume they've thought this through.

Well, yeah, otherwise you might not install the app. Lots of shit works like that now. I got a gaming keyboard which came with software that I obviously wasn't going to install. But the keyboard lights default to super-bright-disco-strobe-light-mode and, guess what, that can only be turned off using the software.

#7 If this plot appeals to you, watch the underrated Ghibli film Whisper of the Heart

I'd been an admirer of the show for decades before I actually watched the credits and realized Riff Raff wrote it.

Sounds like a paraphrase of the Jogging Baboon from BoJack Horseman

#6 One of those guys glared at me once and it was hilarious. They're bloody huge though, I would not want to fight one.

They're both problems. By weight, 96% of all mammal life on Earth is either human or livestock of humans. 4% is wild animals.

Where I've worked it's seemed to be a head's-up that, in six months time, we're going to sit down with you and go over what you've accomplished, and there's a very real chance at the end of that meeting you'll be asked to pack up and leave for good. Like, that happens to 50% of people we hire. So make an effort to be someone we want to keep.

That is actually the finger of Galileo, preserved like a relic in the Galileo Museum in Florence, Italy.

He actually borrowed the title from a friend's drawing. So in that particular instance he was great at recognizing someone else's great title. Still counts.

50 years ago was 1975. Gerald Ford was president then. Reagan was last appointing people in 1988, which was 37 years ago. The younger ones are still around.
