#2 I thought that was a beer can in a beer koozie, in a/leaning on a mitten.
which is why I basically unsubscribe any YT channel that does an OperaGX sponsorship.Opera *was* a great browser when it came out - 20-25 years ago when you could get it for free and got ads, or you could buy it (changing you from "product" to "customer") and get no ads. The slide was from 2005-2016.2005 was "no more ads, we get paid by Google for making Google our default search engine"2016 was "we were bought by a Chinese Company..."
Not the commenter you're replying to, but... I'm old. Seen so many Vast Tracts Of Land over the course of my life that yes, the tattoos *are* where my eyes went. To the point that I missed that there are even subtitles...
I get you on the low contrast - I honestly had to go back and look to see if there were any in the first place. Those are a lot of tattoos and some *intricate* work. Impressive. (I'm old. Seen so many Vast Tracts Of Land over the course of my life that yes, the tattoos *are* where my eyes went. 😂🤣😂🤣)
It's Reddit satire. That the X poster either missed, or (more likely) deliberately ignored in favor of pot-stirring.
"Moron X Denizen doesn't recognize (or chooses to ignore) satirical posting when it's scratching on the bedroom door."
This is hands-down the weirdest KEXP thing I've ever seen...
*Most* people drive less than 40 miles per day. *Many* people have access to a regular household plug in a garage or carport or similar. Looking on Autotrader, I'm seeing 2018+ Nissan Leafs (the ones with 230 mile range) and a few others like the very first VW ID.4s being at or under 10k. Won't be long now...
(I'm sorry. I was wrong. Math at the end.)Power from The Mighty Columbia - $0.0875 per kw/h. 78 kw/h between 20-80% (131 kw/h total) = only $6.82 to go from 20-80% just plugged into the wall, no time of use rate changes, no utility discounts, just the straight daily rate. My estimate was more than a dollar too high.
Unpopular opinion: Yes, I miss my old manual transmissions - but I miss them WAY less than I like plugging into the wall and "fueling up" a full tank for $8 - then pulling up to the metering light at the bottom of the on-ramp next to, like...a Scat Pack or something and rippin' off an ABSOLUTELY SILENT 3.8s 0-60 when it's my turn...
Yes, but that's how you make sure the Gears don't get...War...out... Keeps 'em pristine.
I was always a First, Third, Fifth, Sixth guy.
1. Everybody in the world who learns about The Game is forever playing The Game. A person cannot refuse to play The Game; it does not require consent to play and one can never stop playing.2. Whenever one thinks about The Game, one loses.3. *Losses must be announced* with a phrase such as "I just lost The Game", or in any other way: for example, via text or other social media.
It is impossible to win. One can only avoid losing.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Game_(mind_game)
The valid play in your shoes is "I Just Lost The Game" - even if you were the first person to lose when you posted your OP. :D The way you went round is (loosely) like insisting that the Queen in chess can move like ALL of the other pieces - *including the Knight*. :D
"YOU just lost the game" is invalid. "I just lost the game" is the only valid announcement. I lost the game when I thought of The Game in relationship to the original ruleset, not as a consequence of your invalid play. This is the part where YOU announce that YOU have, also, Lost The Game.
And the alternative is...More of what we've already got? No fuckin' thanks."If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote for, ***but there are certain to be ones you want to vote against***. In case of doubt, vote against.- Robert Anson Heinlein
That's not how The Game works. The rules state clearly that when you realize you're playing The Game you must ANNOUNCE that you have Lost The Game. "YOU LOST THE GAME" is invalid terminology. You can only ANNOUNCE it, thus making everyone else realize (for the first time in a long time) that they, too, are playing the game, and have Lost The Game, which in turn means THEY have to announce (FOR THEMSELVES) that...I Just Lost The Game.
*I* can't hear them. My sound is off. Forever. And Ever. FOR. EVER.
My first step is SHOULD I get a competent person to look at this?Sure I can google it - but Google can't see a photo of the EXACT THING I'm looking at and tell me (as a first pass) whether it's serious or not and *warrants* inspection. Did the same thing with a crack in our garage floor, and got the opposite answer - "Nah, slab concrete cracks just like that all the time. Here's the bullet list of what you should be looking for as actual things: does it (A, B, or C) over the next 3-5 years."
True, and I stand corrected - though some posters were apparently rather more spartan with the credits on them than the bulk of them:
The Whales of August (1987) — Bette Davis, Lillian Gish, Vincent Price, Ann SothernGoing in Style (1979) — George Burns, Art Carney, Lee Strasberg.Murder by Death (1976) — Eileen Brennan, Truman Capote, James Coco, Peter Falk, Alec Guinness, Elsa Lanchester, David Niven, Peter Sellers and Maggie Smith. The Shootist (1976) — John Wayne, Lauren Bacall, Ron Howard, James Stewart and Richard Boone. The Misfits (1961) — Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery Clift, Thelma Ritter and Eli Wallach.
7. So: probably a localized masonry/moisture repair, based on this image - but not a “leave it as is” situation, and also not enough information to certify it as nonstructural - which is what having it inspected will figure out.
5. Probe the adjacent wood gently for softness or rot and inspect farther in both directions.6. Bring in a structural engineer if the wall is bowed or shifted, blocks are loose/crushed, cracks continue through the blocks, the door has begun binding, or the opening grows. Stable damage confined to mortar joints is often repairable by repointing, while cracking or displacement warrants investigation. https://www.cmha.org/resource/tek-08-01a/
4. Find the moisture source before recladding. The deterioration is at the slab/wall junction, so drainage, flashing, siding clearance, and the door area deserve close attention. The new siding needs a continuous water-resistive drainage plane and base flashing that drains outward. https://buildingscience.com/documents/reports/rr-9909-drainage-planes-and-air-spaces/view
1, Leave the siding off and have a competent mason inspect it in person.2. Remove only loose, crumbly material until sound masonry is reached; don’t indiscriminately chip into a supporting joint.3. Repair with masonry mortar or an appropriately specified grout, not ordinary bagged concrete smeared across the face. Proper repointing requires removing deteriorated mortar deeply enough for the replacement to bond. https://imiweb.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/06.02-Repointing-Masonry-Walls.pdf
Normal People hate AI, but *damn* if it isn't good for a first pass at this kinda thing (with sources appended). The photo appears to show concrete masonry units with old parging/patching and substantial deterioration or missing mortar at the bottom bed joint. I don’t see obvious bowing, displacement, or a classic stair-step settlement crack in this one view. However, the blocks’ actual bearing condition—and whether the damage continues behind the wood or around the corner—is hidden.
Thank you for being an excellent post tagging person. Even if the search sucks balls and won't find these posts if you only use "Sky Harbor" or "Airport" as search terms. You're 100% on top of it. So many cool things I've lost because I didn't think to save them and they got relevant to something 4 hours later and I couldn't find (or search) for them again. Mad Props. (see what I did there?)
