Hamas absolutely did not right away negotiate anything. They threw statements to the wind at the press, but they weren't at the negotiation table waiting eagerly. In fact, they were avoiding negotiations for days, no responses to Qatari negotiators, but in the end only military pressure actually got them to start negotiations, even when they did come to fruition they were violated every. single. day. (Rockets shot to Israel, 2 cases of gunning in Jerusalem, both admittedly Hamas).
Israeli kids and their families killed point blank as they cower inside their closets is fine, but airstrikes on an area with an evacuation notice is not. Hamas says that they will do this attack again and again. Should Israel just stop and start begging? Fuck no.
"an immediate and unconditional release of all hostages" : how exactly? Hamas would not have it. How would this be enforced and managed? They clearly state that they don't know how many hostages they have and they don't even care. It was a bullshit decision by the UN with no backing whatsoever, funded by Qatari money. Where was this decision when Russia attacked Ukraine?
1. The return of all hostages 2. The total surrender of Hamas. That is the exchange rate.
How? Just stop the Israelis? Hamas stated that they intend to do this attack again so long as Israel exists. So then what? The difference between the US and Israel is that Israel is at an immediate risk of this happening again and again.
You can't call what they did on 10/7 fighting back. What they did there, throwing grenades inside shelters of innocent people, where families were hiding, is not "fighting back." Parading naked girls through the streets as people celebrate is not "fighting back." These are all abhorrent actions which infuriated Israel to this point.

I always feel deeply sad for these people. They live in constant. CONSTANT. fear of what they don't understand, and they're mocked relentlessly for it. So they find solace in others like them, who feed each others' psychosis even more. It must be so exhausting to live like that.
