When my brother died, I had to spend all my time managing the shitshow that was my wife, my sister-in-law and my mother, because someone had to cope. Not one of them asked me how i felt, even though i spent most of the next month bawling my eyes out. It took me a year before I realised i needed therapy, and another year to get myself back to some semblance of normality. The trauma never really leaves you.
People often point at addicts and blame them for their problems - but addiction produces profound, long-lasting changes in the brain's structure and function, transforming it from a voluntary behaviour into a compulsive, automatic habit. It is very fucking hard to get out of - although it is possible. Addicts need more understanding and support - the addiction might not have been their fault in the first place.
Just goes to show that national, religious or moral boundaries don't matter one bit to the ultra rich.
